The reason we're not free is because we've been conditioned to think that we cannot fight back and cannot withhold the tax/extortion payments. The conditioning exploits human desires and weaknesses. For example, the majority of people will eagerly trade their rights and freedoms for money/indulgence/comfort. Money is appealing because it is immediate and tangible and it can satisfy your needs now. Rights are an intangible product of the mind.

The United States is no longer the freest country in the world. Can a country really be considered ''free'' if things like drug possession, feeding the homeless in a public park, collecting rainwater, disorderly conduct, auditing, drinking in public, and other victimless acts are more than enough to have you arrested and put in a rape cage? A cage where you'll likely be deprived of everything you have, even glasses and medical devices in many cases, a cage where your meals are worse than dog food, where there's a high liklihood of being beaten up by fellow inmates, officers or both, where there's not an ounce of privacy, even on the toilet, etc. America's Founders would be appalled at the state of the country nowadays! Needing government permission to do basically everything, having laws regulating everythng to death, and being forced to give over 50% of one's income to the government is ANTITHETICAL to the United States of America's founding principles! For economic freedom, the US is beaten by the Nordic countries, New Zealand and several others. As far as personal freedom, Switzerland and New Zealand rank as two of the highest. Now, these countries do have tradeoffs, such as personal income taxes being much higher, but it may be worth it. One of the largest benefits of these countries in my books is the fact that they use the metric system.

how can you on one hand have such great criticisms of power and yet on the other hand don't seem to understand that those same authoritarian tendencies are manifest in deification of the founding fathers and phrases like "god-fearing". like sorry the founding fathers were primarily just wealthy elitists who were concerned for their own class interest, and regardless shouldn't be deified. and maybe it's a good idea to require driver's licenses for driving on public roads, and its very far from practically illegal to speak your opinions, the modern concept of free speech really came out of the 60s free speech movement, your rights come from activism and political struggle not god or nature and government isn't the only tyrannical threat, the reason at least ostensibly for regulatory agencies is to protect people from corporations, and it has had net positive effects despite all the corruption.
