The Trinidad cop got 7 years for this. 5 Without parole. Sean Courtier got 5 years. Charged with official misconduct for making the false statements in police reports - and additionally found the cops guilty of conspiracy to commit official misconduct, tampering with public records, falsifying or tampering with records, and false swearing. Albert Sutterlin - who retired in the wake of the incident - pleaded guilty in October 2013 to falsifying or tampering with records. After testifying against the other officers, he took a plea agreement and was sentenced two years of probation in late November. Predictably, Jeter has filed a lawsuit against Bloomfield Township. The suit affirms that Bloomfield officers targeted, followed, and eventually assaulted him. It alleges racial profiling, use of excessive force, physical assault, failure to provide prompt and adequate medical care, and false arrest. The complaint also alleges that the township and police department have a “documented history” of falsifying police reports, sham Internal Affairs investigations, engaging in cover-ups, unlawful arrests, and use of excessive force. 10 officers were named in the lawsuit. I can't find any news of payout yet, but I would imagine he got a settlement. I would hope someone in internal affairs got fired at least. Thumb up for outcome information.

Your story is horrific! What police did to you was very evil! Reading your story was like reading about my brother Marvin as it is exactly what police did to him when he was a bouncer at Gilley's in Pasadena, Texas and reported to his employer, owner Sherwood Cryer, that he had seen PPD officers "rolling" intoxicated customers in the parking lot. He was soon falsely arrested and severely beaten and when the judge dismissed the false charges and chastised the arresting officer for beating Marvin, the officer told Marvin in front of our father that he was going to make Marvin's life one of hell and he proceeded to do just that. Their reign of terror only ended when, after shooting in self-defense the PPD officer who came to kill him, Marvin was murdered execution style by a bullet to the back of his head from the revolver of a "moonlighting" HPD SWAT assassin hired to keep Marvin from going to trial where the illegal actions of the several PPD officers against Marvin and especially the officer who came to kill him would have been made public. Police told us Marvin committed suicide and then illicitly reconstructed his head and shot him a second time postmortem in his left to attempt to deceive us into accepting their report of suicide which we never did! It took 27 years for my sister and me to finally get the death scene images which clearly depict his execution and which are posted on the fb page we created for him, Justice For Marvin William Harris" You were very wise to leave the city where you were beaten by its police. We wish Marvin had done so. What you suffered and still deal with today my sister and I well know and are so very sorry that it happened to you. And this is why the protests are going on
@griz0634 жыл бұрын
It can seem so superficially. But the protests have more to do with America's disastrous fractured relationship with authority. In the case of George Floyd all of the attending officers are now under arrest and awaiting trial. Save the protests to see if the trial is a just one or not! People are protesting just to placate their negative emotions relating to the fractured relationship I already mentioned (which psychologically can tie into father issues). Marcus clearly made several serious mistakes that led to the attending officers escalating their response. The time to "call my laywer" is once the initial detainment has happened. What did he expect? That some lawyer would come out and argue points of law with the officers at curbside?? Without knowing more about the particulars chances are excellent that things were fine when the one officer talked to Marcus leaving, things were fine when the other was talking to his girlfriend, but then things changed when they talked to the other lady who initiated the call. There are a lot of laws and protocols that come into effect with domestic violence calls. Things designed to protect victims that may be marginalized and intimidated. And once the call has been deemed a "domestic violence" one (for whatever reason), the charges fall totally outside of the control of even the originating plaintiff. It's then "the state" that stands in as the initiator of the charges, and nothing can stop that process save for a judge. It's also interesting that his 1 call was not to his lawyer, but his girlfriend. And many jurisdictions DO have a law forbidding contact with the victim of domestic violence by the perpetrator. And these laws hold even if the charge is in error. So don't fight the system with obstinance ignorance and outrage. No matter what happened, Marcus was going to end up in a jail cell until things were sorted out. Far better to comply and arrive there with all of your blood still inside your body! And if he had complied but still was beaten, then there really would be a case to talk about. But in resisting arrest one tends to make things magnitudes worse for themselves. But hey, it's a free country to make both good and bad decisions in.

Not really. Considering the sheer volume of peaceful interactions between police and citizens these are the outliers. The combination of social media and a dishonest news media means that the very very very few outlier cases are accentuated -- and the MILLIONS of peaceful professional interactions go entirely unnoticed. And we are seeing first-hand the results of clueless Democrats trying to work socialist responses in their cities where the withdrawal of funds and support from the police is causing shootings and murder rates to surge by over 150% in some cities. Add in a surge in police retirements. And a drop in the number of people wanting to be police officers. And then fold in the sheer number of people in poor Black neighborhoods begging the police to come back.

For every bad cop I run into, I encounter dozens more who are both fair and professional -- and a good number of these are quite literally the salt of the earth. Look, I've been mugged and beaten by a group of blacks before. But it would be wrong for me to presume all blacks are like this or to insist this is somehow "the norm" of that identity group. True crime novel book project I am currently hard at work trying to publish a true crime novel which I have written regarding the out of control police corruption in the state of Alaska which has directly affected me and has had a major impact on my life and the lives of many other innocent people in the state of Alaska. I have been stalked, tormented, set up, framed, falsely accused, poisoned, attacked and even had evidence planted in my home by law-enforcement in North Pole Alaska and during the winter of 2018 I found myself dating a woman who was a police informant (a plant) and one evening on January 11 2019 this woman and her state policeman (handler) followed me around town and waited until I was at a convenience store where he had her jump in to my vehicle and dump a massive quantity of crystal meth into my soda, I saw this take place and when I ran out of the store they had already left, I followed them across town to a location where they met up with other officers, I pulled up behind them and attempted to get their license plates but I could not remember them, I did however positively ID my girlfriend sitting in the passenger side of a black Jeep Wrangler, there was nothing I could do and at the time I did not know what she had done inside my vehicle and I quickly drank my soda and left but about 20 minutes later I began overdosing and swerved into a store parking lot where I asked the store clerk to call for help, within minutes I was in the back of an ambulance fighting for my life overdosing. I tried to talk to the staff at the hospital and ask them for police assistance and was ignored, I tried reporting this with no success to multiple law-enforcement agencies including internal affairs, umbudsman, attorneys and civil rights groups, including countless posts on social media with no luck at locating anyone who seems to care or were able to help, (I seem to only end up on the phone with undercover agents) since then my life has been a roller coaster ride of surveillance, intimidation, torments. I’ve been under surveillance by more law enforcement agencies across the country that I can think of as well as had my rights violated on a continual basis even up to this present day I am still being hounded and tormented and even threatened by these people in more ways than I could mention to maintain their coverup and keep hidden any evidence against them, I live in constant fear of retaliation by them and never know when or how they will retaliate to stop me from telling the world my story this along with other similar experiences as well as my life in Alaska will all be going in my book which will be published asap, Please invest in a copy of my book to help tell my story to the world, there’s more to the story than just me, there are the innocent lives of people falsely accused and wrongly imprisoned all over Alaska who were thrown in jail and falsely accused by the same crew of corrupt police officers, please help me take up this fight and help me tell my story, All I need is for others to care and care about what happened to me and the many others who are falsely imprisoned as well as your own rights which are at risk if this is not exposed and dealt with! Thank you for taking the time to read this God bless you all my fellow Americans.

@@12brutalrounds87 BS buddy! Pretty sure my best mate with 25 years service would argue that point... especially as he's a very dark skinned mixed race guy. The WORST racism he's faced has been at the hands of certain African American community members in the community he grew up in. Having "coconut" and "unclean" tagged on his mother's house, her windows being put through on 4 different occasions and his own kids getting glass bottles thrown at them walking home from school. That shi*s just fine yeah?! Despite all that cr*p he STILL puts that uniform on daily to serve his community. Even if you're just unquestionably anti-cop... consider this. I work in child protection. Mostly high level abuse and exploitation cases. The number of black kids I've worked with who have been abused for years that say they didn't contact the police or tell a teacher because everyone constantly tells them "cops bad", "government bad"... it's too freaking many and it breaks my heart every time. One young guy (17 at the time) passed a station daily, passed a cop (at school entrance) daily and was r**ed and sold by gangs in his community for 11 years. It only came out when he tried to take his own life at college. That kind of s**t needs to stop man. Effort is needed by *BOTH* sides of this issue. There's good and bad in ALL groups. Claiming that ALL of any group are bad is just more damaging and perpetuating f**ked up communities.

@@cliftt It might have also had something to do with his height and the color of his car. The thing is that it's very racist . . . to jump to an automatic conclusion that everyone else is racist. It's called projecting. Without something to actually indicate this is so, it carries as much weight as saying it's because of his car's color (there are actual stats showing certain color cars get pulled over more often). Again, it takes deviousness, to presume deviousness is a motivating factor. (again, projection).

Y'all watch this and laugh about it now but do you not realize the levity of what the officers did. Not that chasing him down for no reason and stoping him and beating the crap out of him wasn't enough they were prepared to ruin his life. At any point they could have stopped the proceedings but chose not to. They had no value of his life it was nothing to them, it didn't matter if he had a family career or anything. My thing is as easy as it was for them and for them to be so together in their corruption YOU HAVE TO THINK HE WAS NOT THE FIRST VICTIM. I watch this video and wonder how many victims are out there or should I say in prison or cemetery. What purpose would it be for someone to go to this extent on a stranger someone they didn't even know, now that is insane. What they did you wouldn't even want to do to your worse enemy.
