I hate winter, the cold, the rain, the darkness, and yet, every year now, I'm hyped because in winter we get... the wintering ! This is my motivation to get out and run when I don't want to, to get uncomfortable, and to see if I can manage it, cant wait for this new series!

For real. Don’t love winter, therefore I just started a running streak since winter weather has is moving in. Don’t want to run in winter…time to start running in winter. Yesterday was cloudy, rainy, and 35 degrees. Got it done. Loving the uncomfortable challenge. It’s just what I needed

I've signed up for my first ultra next year, I'm a beginner endurance runner so it's 50k - but for me, it's this huge, scary, impossible sounding, amazing thing that terrifies me and excites me and makes me feel so alive. Your channel has been a huge inspiration to me, can't wait to see you tackle this challenge! I run because of my mental health too, a decade of bereavement, addiction, depression and undiagnosed ADHD had brought me to my knees. I feel like running has given me my life back. Thank you for everything you do, so excited to see this unfold!

Ive recently been getting into endurance training in preparation for the royal marines and you have been a huge part in my journey so far fergus. Thanks a lot man you are truly the most genuine and underrated fitness influencer out there. Honestly stick at it brother!

You've made me face my silence and im running 331kms this November for the 331 suicides recorded in 2022. What this has made me do is open up about my struggles of everyday life and its all because of you telling your story. Thanks fergus

Great! Go on Fergus. Keep moving and keep inspiring us. To me you are a role model. Have been running marathons and triathlons for the past 2 years on top of some Calisthenics and Martial Arts. Seeing how you perpetually challenge yourself really helps me stay on the path you know. So thanks for putting yourself out there and telling your story. Your athletic journey is pretty mindblowing already and I'm thankful for all your content. Keep up the amazing work and best of luck for this absolutly crazy challenge! P.S. subscribed to the newsletter, good stuff

And I even got my bodybuilding friend to join hybrid training with me. Thank you Fergus for all your content, I really look forward to it.

Can't believe I've just found your channel. Watched the last few videos and really enjoyed this one. Good on you Fergus, you're a legend and an inspiration mate. I've been in a really rough spot, almost flunked out of college after holding a 4.0GPA for 3 years in a law degree, and a few years ago completed a 100km orienteering race with about 2.5km of elevation throughout. Been inspired by this video, planning to get back into running and have signed up for a marathon in April 2024 with hopes to do an Iron Man in the future. Thanks for being so honest and raw - keep it up mate.

And just when I think you can’t get any cooler. So excited to follow this journey, especially through these winter months where it is no secret we all struggle more mentally, some are victims to this more than others, but journeys like this are instant reminders that we can do it. CANT believe you could receive any hatred about anything you do but thus the world we live in😂😃 we’ll be supporting you no matter what!!

In 2021 I ran my first half marathon and was due to do my first full in 2022 followers by an ultra. Sadly I was then diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer and had to go into treatment. I’m now due to run that same half next April with a view to achieving my dream endurance race of 55 miles. My mental health has really struggled but having something booked to work towards my dream will get me out this winter.

I used to be one of the "powerlifter that hates running" types and started watching your channel. I realized I didn't hate running because I hated running, I hated running because I was bad at it and was afraid of doing something hard. So I started running and am doing my first half marathon in a month. After that, my second powerlifting competition next year and then, as long as I stay healthy, a marathon or longer after. I did and am doing the hard work, but you inspired me to start. Thank you

So excited to follow this preparation, currently having a super rainy stretch and turned back the clocks resulting in the shortest two months of our year here in the northern United States. Taking time to be intentional and plan what I want my wintering to look like. Will be jumping in the lake this week and start ramping up strength training and cycling in preparation for some long ski days in the mountains. Proud of you man, stay strong and spirited!

In the immortal words of Frank Herbert - "Fear is the mind killer. It is the little death of all things. I will permit my fear to pass over me, and when it is gone, only I will remain." I go running before work and in the winter it's dark and cold and wet and it's intimidating to face whenever I get up. Watching your videos motivates me to get up in the morning and improve myself. I'm looking forward to this series of the wintering. I hope your training goes well and you can smash the challenge.

Hey Fergus, look forward to following your journey, you're going to smash it!! I would recommend doing a two-camera set up if you want that aesthetically pleasing side shot. Using purely the side shot where you never engage with the camera, means it feels like you never engage with your audience. It feels like we as a viewer are watching a conversation we are not part off which can be pretty off-putting and unengaging for your audience, meaning people are more likely to switch off and not watch/continue the video. Just an idea, again really looking forward to following your adventure, good luck!

I’ve seen from Omnia that your programming structure is/was essentially… Monday: AM: Heavy lower body PM: Sprint work (5x1km or 8x400m) Tuesday: AM: Heavy upper PM: swim drills or intervals Wednesday: AM: Turbo (sweet spot of your FTP) PM: Tempo run (threshold of heart rate) Thursday: AM: Volume swim Friday: AM: Full body (emphasis on pre-fatigue and accessories) PM: Liss run Saturday: AM or PM: Long zone 2 brick work Sunday: Rest Hypothetically, how would you structure 2 days of M.M.A/Muay Thai into this? Once again great video and the best fitness channel on this platform.
