Honestly was half expecting this to secretly be a Toyota lol But if we're being honest, Nissan's larger vehicles like Pathfinder and Armada, plus their trucks the Frontier and Titan, are not really all that bad. It's their smaller vehicles like their sedans and the Murano, Rogue, and Kick that have had a lot of issues.
@TB1M1
@TB1M1 2 жыл бұрын
the engines are not all that bad, not as good as the 90's engines like SR20 etc. they are amazing, the tone sounds like BMW exhaust almost. It's the early CVT transmissions which are the problem especially on Nissan Tiidas. It's hit or miss on those

I bought my Nissan Pathfinder in 2005. Did my oil changes every 4months as my dad taught me,changed the wipers as needed,car battery as it depleted, changed the rear left side brake light only twice as long as I've owned it, just replaced the right side passenger power window with KZbin help. I can park on compact parking spaces because of its narrow designg, and can fit 8 people comfortably. Its 2021 so I've owned my pathfinder for 16years, and as long as I've owned it it still runs like brand new. So I am very satisfied with mine. Never ever have I've had problems with mine and like I said, still runs like new. Now if problems were to arise now,well its been 16 years with no money put in it except for regular maintenance.👍

Only ONE major drawback. Transmission cooler located inside the radiator. Tends to fail & allows water in to the transmission. My wife had an 08’ - best car we’ve owned. Tried to make 200k (bought it new). Made it to 197k b/f trans gave up the ghost. Other than that - great vehicle. I actually hate that they changed the body style.

I fixed this same issue on my ‘05 Pathfinder before completely harming the transmission, by bypassing the radiator and relying on the external(towing) cooler. Completed repairs by flushing out the contaminated transmission fluid and replacing with a new transmission filter and fluid afterwards. That was 9 years ago, and making all other repairs that this vehicle is known for, my Pathfinder still runs strong to this day and is definitely one tough cookie, lol!

I had a 2008. Was a solid vehicle until the transmission started to not downshift when coming to a stop. Made starting up again quite difficult. And the engine threatened to overheat above 70mph. Then I saw where they were prone to having the radiator leak into the transmission. Traded it in on a new 2015 4runner, which I still have. 200k miles, only issues have been the Takata airbag recall and the doorlock actuators aren't the most durable.

@@RayRo3r I've got an '07 Armada with just over 120K miles. It has been super-reliable so far, not showing any signs of stopping. The only expensive repair was the darned plastic AC damper actuators buried deep behind the dash. But other than that, it's been filters and oil, pads and rotors, just the usual wear items. I got it as a lease return in 2010. If I had known at the time, I would have held out for an '08 to get Bluetooth integrated with the radio, which would have been nice. I'm not a fan of the newer model years/body style, so I may never own another Armada, but I'll own this one a while yet.

Sorry Scotty, but the D21 is the best thing Nissan ever made. The manual two wheel drive ones might as well be made out of titanuim for how indestructible they are. My 91 had over a quarter of a million miles and didn't use a drop of oil, thing was quick and handled VERY well. Even though it was the smallest engine they put in them, I would fill the back and it would take it no problem.

Not too sure whether this is meant to be taken as a serious advice, these cars are actually quite awful. 😅 I've previously owned a 2007 Pathfinder LE with a 4.0 V6 under the hood. These engines are well known to have timing chain related issues. Also the radiator is badly designed, it tends to leak the coolant into ATF, which results in destruction of the transmission. The overall build quality is poor, the rust protection is bad, also the ride comfort is not great. I'd say that there are just three things that make this car somewhat good. 1) Quite good off-road capabilities 2) It has plenty of torque for towing 3) The interior is actually pretty roomy. Other than that... I wouldn't recommend to buy one of these.

To be honest I wanted it to be a little bigger in the driver's compartment. I could get in, but it wasn't all comfortable. I'm over 6' and kinda big. I need room. I really liked the Pathfinder and liked how (at the time) they seemed to be available. Wound back up in another Titan. And that was after I said I would never get another Titan, much less a Nissan. **sigh** But the Pathfinder did seem like a good ride.

Question - Im looking at buying a used 2008 Nissan xterra X Sport Utility 4D 4.0 V6 with automatic transmission. He is asking $7,500. Its a year with the smod radiator leaking into transmission destroying both issue. Mileage on it currently is around 97,000 miles. Seller im talking with just bought the xterra less than a year ago after his wife totaled one of their other cars so they bought the xterra to help them in their move from florida to california where they and i are now. They say they dont need the additional vehicle as they also have other. I asked if they or previous owner already replaced the radiator and / or transmission given the xterra being one of years nissan made the badly designed radiators that can leak into transmission and vise versa. He said he does not know if either were replaced, but he hasnt replaced either. But he proudly said paid the nissan mechanic dealership to do a radiator or transmission flush. Yet from what Ive read its actually recommended to not flush the transmission in these old of xterras as it can damage transmission. Full replacement of transmission fluids being the more recommended safer option. So given assuming its the original transmission and radiator, and dealership at least gave the xterra a transmission flush instead of replacement, and unknown previous maintenence and repair and issues history before he bought it last year, i am wondering if its likely its going to fail soon? Or if it can likely continue working good for many years without needintg to replace transmission and or radiator within just a few years? I test drove it briefly and didnt notice anything obviously slipping, stalling, etc. But I only drove it maybe 10 or 15 minutes and forgot to try out the additional low gear options. And if there is no leaking at this point between radiator and transmission ( and how do i know for sure ) is it safe for me to just replace radiator and do transmission and radiiator change of fluids ( not another flush )? And this will prevent transmission being damaged, and is it reasonable to expect these transmissions to then last at least another 1000,000 miles before needing replaced?
