Hey!!
Can I be honest with y’all? Judgement free (lol). I’m so over my natural hair at the moment. I had copper hair then dyed it jet black because the copper was soo high maintenance, and my hair just kept breaking off. I really want big chop and start over new. Do you guys have any products suggestions for color damaged hair? Anywho, thank you for letting me vent and I’ll see you in the next video 🙂

Careful with olaplex...never used it but heard that it's caused hair loss in some ppl. I would stick to your tried and true. And avoid protein treatments until your hair softens/put in a protective style (without false hair) and use grease.

Exactly. And I couldn’t agree more with you. I normally use Cantu living-conditioner but since I ran out of it and couldn’t find it anymore in my country, I started using a different living-conditioner that left my hair brittle and causing more nots, for weeks I couldn’t understand what was going on until I changed brands again

Same. African Pride used to dry out my hair. And if she is using color, that dries hair as well. I started using TGIN and grapeseed oil and that really worked for me. I know some ppl can get away with not conditioning their hair after shampooing but conditioning and deep conditioning always worked for me for moisture retention

Being a cosmetologist...bleach/color is cryptonite to our hair. Yes, certain products do help (reconstructors, Ion is my preference, deep conditions i use a bunch of conditioners mixed plus cholesterol. Protein treatments as needed), but if its over processed, most likely, you're going to end up cutting it. That should be discussed if you're going to the salon. Glad you're not afraid to cut and start over b/c yes, it is a pain. That's why I stopped coloring. Yes, i love change, but color scares me to keep starting over. I break off in the crown of the head every time. You're lucky for it just being your ends. You have thick and beautiful hair! Keep loving on it💚

@@trianna2008 Getting rid of what? The cholesterol? I'm in my late 50s now and I have been using cholesterol for hair treatments since I was in my teens. I still have a full healthy head of hair although it's turning grey. The main thing for me is that it's healthy and a good length and I think using cholesterol every now and then with a heat cap as part of my overall hair routine has helped my hair. The only thing that has ever really damaged my hair is a stressful job. Once I quit that job, my hair grew like a weed. Stress is more damaging to the body and hair than any product.

I feel your pain! Exactly why I don’t dye my hair anymore! As much as I want to. Highlights don’t seem to be so bad. But that all over bleach.. no matter how much I trimmed my ends were always dry! 1 suggestion, keep your hair in mini twist (moisturized to the max), and trim regularly. U won’t have to worry about so much manipulation and breakage! It’s a good way to transition, because you are going to overall end up just cutting out all that color which is the goal, but u can keep your hair. But if it’s breaking to bad just cut it sis!

The last time, I only colored my ends and I still had to chop it all off because the split ends traveled up the shaft. My hair is now almost waist length and healthy due to no harsh chemicals. Ok. TGIN has a great protein conditioner and moisturizing conditioner. I highly recommend using those two together. Do the protein first followed by the moisturizing conditioner. Only do a protein conditioner once a month for you hair. You can do the moisturizing deep conditioner every week. When you have dry hair and color. The focus is on protein and moisture balance. You did a protein overload with the hair conditioner that you used. After a protein treatment, always follow up with a moisturizing conditioner or even a nice hot oil treatment to being back the softness of your hair. Ideally, you could have worn your hair in two strand twists or braided or twisted your natural hair down. Next, spray your hair with aloe vera juice or water, follow it with one of those moisturizing sprays with oils and humectants. Finally, seal with a light oil or hair lotion . Do that every day or every other day. That would help with hydration and moisture retention for dry hair. Shampoo and condition hair every week or every two weeks at most. My natural hair with no color gets dry quick and this is what I do. I hydrate and moisturize frequently during the week to keep it soft and supple between hair washes. Hope this helps.

All races of women love long hair because it's considered more feminine and beautiful. If this weren't the case, fake hair wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar industry. I've had black women downplay my real long hair just to go and sew 30 inches into their heads. I'm not saying short hair can't be nice. Yes I have the same issue. Bleached, dyed jet black, and it's just dry. I'm just getting it back to somewhat have a little moisture, trying to figure it out as i go along. I'm using the Jamaican Black Castor oil S,C, & DC. I really want to cut it off and grow it back, I'm fighting myself 😢

The Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave In Conditioner can bring even the most parched hair back to life! I have 4z low porosity hair that is extremely fussy, but this hydrates it fully with no residue or shrinkage.

Get all the product build-up out of your hair first. You can try a clay mask and apple cider vinegar rinse. Next, steam your scalp and use a rice water product on your hair. You may need to repeat it a couple times. Go in with moisturizing products afterwards, especially oils.

Mielle and Pattern products!! They have such broad ranges that they would have something for your hair! I like the pomegranate line from Mielle. You need something to keep the moisture locked in, a really good leave in conditioner is key. Patter has a great one!

When I used to bleach and color, I would keep a rinse over it. Literally lift the color of my hair, dye it my desired colors, and do a rinse over it. When the rinse rinsed, Id put another rinse in. My childhood hair dresser taught me this at 14 when I started coloring my hair. I would get copper shades a lot and my hair never broke off. Back then they didnt have natural hair products and I did not take good care of my hair. All I did was keep a rinse in, condition when I washed and I never had breakage. I personally liked the color deposit from the rinse but they do make no color hair rinses. Rinses are still my fall back when my hair is dry. In the winter I put a clear rinse over my hair. When I tried the Brazilian blowout, it dried my hair out, I put a clear rinse over it. It saves me from breakage. My daughter has super dry ends, so this summer Im trying a rinse on the dry bottom half of her hair. Hopefully this will preserve that hair. Hope this helps.

This was WORTH the read!!! and I hate to ask you to divulge any further but…can I know what brand you use for the rinse? And correct me if I’m wrong but I need clarification 😅 are you saying that you would bleach your hair “literally lift the color off my hair” then You would add box dye over it, THEN put a rinse over it??? If so I think I remember my stylist doing that for me when she dyed my hair red and you are right I had no breakage from that dye treatment 👍🏽

I always had to cut my hair to 1 or 2 inches and start over. It’s only 9 months to mid-back if length is what you desire. In the meantime, I would enjoy washing it daily when I hit the shower and would detangle at the end of growth period. Needless to say, I’d have to comb out a pot full of tangles to enjoy my waist length hair 😂

I only use aussie, that dryness happened to me to when i started it too. But we're black, our hair has to be super wet to lock in the moisture. Wet wet wet your hair and only apply the conditioner, and brush through. That moisture will last a week sis. Wet, condition, brush, rince with cold water and apply leave in conditioner.

I think everyone deals with this with hair color whether they can visibly tell or not. There is no such thing as healthy colored hair. You can make it look healthy via maintenance but it’s compromised no matter what. Your colored hair will never feel as soft/full/lively as your uncolored hair. It’s just science. Your visible damage is minimal which is a blessing and I know you’ll grow it back in no time. Beautiful hair!

Honestly, I've never dyed my hair, but I do use a 5:1 water & glycerin spray, the 4C Only style cream, and castor oil to seal and moisturize my hair. I've had really wonderful results. I also use African Black soap to wash my hair and that gets it really clean. I use the TGIN hair mask to condition it. I've heard that the temp colored hair creams can be better for your hair if you like playing with color bc they just wash out. Or just adding fake hair or clip ins. Good luck on your journey!

Castor oil, vegetable glycerine, Shea butter and olive oil are my 4c staples. African black soap is amazing for the hair and body. I purchased a huge block of it once 😂 It lasted over a year (cut into smaller bars) and was wonderful, but I prefer the liquid soap. The bar is too organic lol. It had broken pod pieces inside that would scratch the skin. Fine for the hair, but not skin and face!

Your hair is beautiful. Weekly deep conditioning. Also, know your protein / moisture balance levels. The moisture makes it soft , protein strengthens it. Find products that your hair likes, they don’t always have to be expensive. Leave in conditioners can be a game changer. Just make sure you have a good clarifying shampoo and one that moisturizes. You are on your way .

This happened to me before as well. I don't dye my hair anymore. I just wear wigs or weaves in a color I would like to try on myself so I don't mess up my natural hair. And I do not care if someone hates wigs or weaves. I didnt ask and I don't care. It works for me and thats all that matters. My natural hair is doing great.

I never dyed my hair however i cut my hair recently cause i wanted a fresh start and all the same length (it was nearly waist length) and i love it!! So much easier to wash, detangle etc. Natural hair is all about learning how to do your hair tbh and that can go for any hair type and texture. Your hair texture and thickness is gorgeous
