for that first story i really can relate. our mother sadly has been through a rough childhood with a mother not caring for her and forbidding everything, so she wanted to do better. we didn't have much money wise, but she let us loose on so many rules. be it helping in the kitchen, groceries, cleaning or how long we are allowed to be outside (we live in really safe suburbs dw). this was awesome as a child. but obviously had severe consequences with me and my sister not being able to do shit. and when we were teens we had to suddenly help her and it didn't really work out as we didn't want to, teens am i right, and she was again too loose on us. i'm over 20 now and live alone and i'm not some dude getting his mom to help out dw, but i messed up so bad we needed to work out a plan on how i can learn to do this shit. and it wasn't problematic that i couldn't do the household things by themselves, it was just me neglectic it all until it overwhelmed me. so on the plan again, we have her come to me and me come to her every week anyway, so we have a small window there where she gives me a task on what to do and i do it. i can ask her for help and stuff, but she needs to stay put, as she comes to help immediatelly when i just try to read the bottle xD but it is really nice we can work on that together and her helping me with it as i just can't do it without an asskick. now after a year i' already so much better i think we can stopp this "household window" we have in another year, as i will hopefully have it learned and made it my own. now this is just cleaning and household stuff, sure it has a lot to do with quality of life, but it's nothing intrinsic like being spoiled and expecting things for nothing. i know the boy is in my age and also an adult now and i hope they worked it out through the years ;3
