It will! Only 5 weeks in France and then I get to come home for a month, and then that last stretch will be focus-mode. Time away from them will motivate me to train even better to make it worth it!

Good luck with your next marathon and also with the training camps. For the next videos: it might be interesting to talk about (female) hormones and training. I would also like to see more about the strength training you do; how often, what exercises when,.

Having just come back to altitude from sea level after a 5 week block at altitude and 3 weeks at sea level I really really am finding a great benefit this second time around, especially with how quickly I have adapted back to altitude so I can get back into hard training faster.

As a non-professional runner, it feels very weird, since every race I have done allowed personal bottles. But then again, none of them were invitationals so what do I know. Lol.

I guess I am kind of a nerd so other people might be less interested in this but I would love to some kind of blood test results (like hemoglobin mass etc.) Pre and post altitude! I'm pretty sure that's a good gauge for the training adaptations produced by altitude training.

You’ll do great Flagstaff perfect time of the year. Houston can still be a little warm that time of the year but in most cases, it’s always great super flat and super fast. Lots of competition should be great I’ll be following.

Sounds good to me - visited Flagstaff last year and loved it. Not far from the Grand Canyon. I imagine you’ll get some snow there leading up to Houston but train on. Best of luck!

Long time viewer first time commentor. Local Texan. Running my local race, the San Antonio marathon, this year then was going to try for Houston but somehow got into London on the ballot. Heard Houston is a blast though!!! Please please please have a breakfast taco and review the life-affirming experience on the channel!!! They're basically our unofficial "official" state food. Also please excuse the drivers, not everyone in Texas drives like Houstonians.

I think you have to do what is best for you. If the marathon target is to run a PB then you have to choose the right course and conditions that will maximise your chances. Good luck!

If you’re gonna do a marathon in Texas, I highly recommend the Paris pair marathon that usually in mid September. It is incredibly flat. Mostly shaded. And there are not a ton of runners because it’s a relatively small race.

I would be really interested in a video explaining how a pro contract works? Like do they pay for your camps, physio, gym memberships etc; or do they just give you a salary and you choose how you can use it? Also, could we have that pancake recipes?!!😍

san sebastian marathon (1 week before valencia) in spain is really flat (like 12m elev gain) and it is in the north of spain which means perfect temp (last year it was like 12 degrees) only bad thing is that it is seafront

@@dianner5148 not really, at least not here in san sebastian since the city is surrounded by pretty high hills and mountains, but when it is windy it is windier in the streets next to the beach. It is not nearly as windy as let’s say brighton tho.

How do you find them for noise cancelling? I have a pair of Aftershokz, and they were alright, but I live in a big city and constantly run near traffic, I don't think I can do open fit earphones, the traffic is often louder than what I'm listening to

Hi Phily, love the content! I cant wait to see how you get on at altitude & i have everything crossed for you for January 🤞 I only started running in feb 23, 6 weeks after having my second baby. I absolutely love it! Ive ran my first half marathon, time wasnt great, it was sub 2hr14, i had to run/walk/run the last 5k. Im in a new training block now with my next half in Dec 23. Ive also got my first full marathon in june 24. Im looking at a time of 4.30, id love to get close to 4hrs, any tips? Im thinking of putting in another HM race as part of my training in 2024

Too bad California International can’t be used. Many runners qualify for Boston at the CIM, but the Olympics are different I guess. CIM is at such a good time of year. Great temperature and awesome organization.

Interesting that CIM isn't a qualifier for you- it's such a popular OTQ course for US runners. Houston is supposed to be great- can't wait to follow your journey!

I believe there’s a difference between being able to use CIM as a trials qualifier (US) vs an Olympic qualifying time (everyone). From there, if you’re American, if you finish top 3 at the trials, you would run the Olympic standard within that race if you hadn’t already in a different race because of how competitive it is.

Phily, what's your thoughts on athletes making the QT for Olympics / Worlds, yet when they get there, the heat and humidity is so much that they end up pulling out during the race. Is it just to say that they're an olympian or "OLY" or just being a part of it but knowing they have a very small chance of medalling or even finishing in top 20?

In an ideal world you should leave at least 6h between endurance and strengh training, slaming them back to back is actualy almost counter productive (at least thats what i've learned in sport science at uni 8years ago) Otherwise great video keep the good work up !!
