Hey huge shoutout to Passartko! Thanks a bunch for the ¥!! For longboard single fins one of the big considerations when placing a fin box is how thick the tail of the board is. You need to place the box far enough forward that you have enough space to route in the fin box! I placed this one 6 inches from the tail right down the stringer, if the board was any thinner I would have had to bump forward and place the trailing edge of the fin box starting at 8 inches! Hope this helps!

So when you were doing the hotcoat or gloss coat, I saw that you used UV resin, was the mixture just uv resin and the catalyst? or did you have to add hardner. Im a beginner and trying to learn more about it. thanks. and did you have to put a uv light on it or could you just let it dry without the uv light.

Hey great question, I pretty much only buy UV resin these days, when it’s sunny you just pop it in the sun and it cures super fast. When it’s not sunny, when I’m working at night etc… I still use UV resin and just add catalyst (which is hardener) and it will kick in 15 min and harden. UV resin is normal resin just with an additive catalyst that activates with UV light, no problem to use normal catalyst when you need it 🙌. Hope this helps @battsboards

I have seen a technique. Paint the lap with wax in styrene, before the hot coat. Apparently it hides the lap line. Ever heard of this? Thanks. Enjoy your vids. ✌️

Very interesting, I’ll have to order some and give her a try, I like to see lap lines most of the time but for some circumstances it would be super handy to conceal them. Thanks for sharing!
