Can I just say, that one reason I LOVE Gunnar is that he seems to be genuinely a phenomenal person. I needed to see this. I lost any chance to talk to my niece when I broke up with my ex. Walking away from that little girl broke my heart. I have no idea if she remembers me or what her toxic family said about me. Having been that kid growing up, losing people in my life because they broke up with my "real" family members, it always felt shit. It's really healing seeing someone stick by "that kid" instead and be able to do so. ❤️

I work with kids, played with the niece of my ex often and when my ex dumped me (and I refused to take him back) that niece was 8 years old. I managed to contact her dad and ask for their adress, to send one last greeting. He agreed and gave that to me, I handpainted myself and her, holding hands and waving at 'the viewer' of the card. Two butterflies were in the air, flying away from eachother. I wrote on the card, something along the lines of: Hello Nina, I think by now, you heard that S. and I broke up. That's sad, but it's not good to stay together when you no longer feel happy together. I will miss you a lot, and hope that you have fun in the future with your plans to join the circus, become a ballerina (etc.) Greetings and best wishes! Emma." A few weeks later, I got a very bubble-y envelope, with a card that was E-shaped and covered in stickers and diamonds. It said; 'I'm very sad that I won't be seeing you again Emma and I will miss you. Lots of love Nina." She'd made that herself. I kept it, ofcourse. I hope that you can meet that girl again, in the future and that you can tell her how important she was to you and that you missed her.
