@@realdragon Yep. Other than doors that could only be used by a certain team, there weren't any barriers like the visualizers in TF2 to prevent enemies from entering a spawn area. Thus to prevent mischief and spawn camping they added turrets to the spawn rooms.

@0.45 "Players said they had fun regardless" Not surprised, instant spawn reduces the penalty of dying. Combine with the absurd number of teleporters in 100 player servers, which eliminates the "walk back to fight" delay. There is little penalty to dying. It allows players to take more risks and go a bit more crazy.

Given that you can bypass deathcam by changing class anyway, yeah, true instant respawn is just less of a hustle This also unironically reminds me of that one time I joined 64 players 2fort and witnessed the most obsessed fight for occupied BLU's sewers. There was a gamemode similar to this in Unreal Tournament, I think it was called "Domination": you needed to capture two control points and hold them for 10 seconds for your team to get a point, after which position of two control points change. The team to first reach the needed amount of points (usually 5) wins.

I wonder how a gamemode like this would be in a typical 12v12 setting? 50v50 is a chaotic mess, but It would be interesting to see how a small size affects it. In all likelihood, I predict it largely being negative, and would emphasize "first cap wins", but it would be a neat thing to see regardless.

we have circle. we need hallway. if i may multi layered hallway, with the highest level being the most unobscured sightline and the lowest level being the most cluttered. health packs and walls breaking up the bottom from a clear view one side to the other giving defensive classes an easier time to get into the combat. the middle layers can be set up for more mobile classes like soldier and scout with flank routes that converge on the point.

Shounic, i'm not sure about how much you read comments but i thought you were the right person to ask this to. (And i'm pretty sure you didn't cover this yet so) I'm going insane over trying to find out more about the sapper idle animation where Spy's left hand flicks one of the sapper switches, which is apparently what the leftover left hand on the sapper's viewmodel was for. It's so obscure to the point that people on reddit have called it a mandela effect when bringing it up, and there's only one or two threads about it on the tf2 wiki and steam forums. People say it was ''removed'' or that it was ''rare'', but when exactly was it even in game at all? Since 2007 and even in the beta the Spy has no animation for flicking the switch, and people say it's on the orange box version of tf2 while clearly it is not there either. The only concrete exposure i've had to this animation was a 2007 viewmodel restoration pack that added it for the sapper, which got me searching information on it. (Apologies in advance if i sound like a complete runaway lunatic)

I wonder if you could do a payload map that was a big loop with no final point? Reminds me a bit of some of the old Unreal Tournament maps. Specifically a map that was a tall box with a pole in the middle, was CTF with low grav and you spawned next to your opponent's flag so you only needed to go half the distance but everyone had insta-death shock rifles.
