Would love to see you making more miniatures. A Stranger Things house could be a really cool series on your channel. I've been thinking about doing a whole house for about five years but never really get started even though I know I'll love it.

Yes!!! Last Christmas i was convinced I could make a Christmasified Hopper's cabin, and when looking for references I noticed that almost no one on youtube has done Stanger Things minis :( Or at least not many that I saw.

This is adorable, Michelle! Just wanted to let you know that Holst Yarn has spinning oil and that's the reason its stiff at first. A good wet block with some dish soap does the trick usually. The more you use this yarn, the softer it gets 😊

Artist tip: Take some rubbing alcohol on a qtip or similar and wipe the wood down and that will bleed out the sharpie a bit and make it more like a stain and less like a marker. You can also put a coat of clear nail polish on it to give it a light varnish

I wish you all the best in your foray into miniature making, and I hope the hobby can provide you with many many years of joy and ingenuity! Its the best crafting hobby for using up scraps...Because its so meta, it uses ALL the materials you have on hand. AND non-crafter people still really love seeing miniatures so you get the bonus of instant validation from a ready audience 🎉❤

perfect hobby to use ALL of your crafting supplies!!!!! I love all of these things too..... 1:6 scale is just a little bigger and easier for yarn (thread yarn i use) its technically barbie size...whats more retro than her??? lol and then for diarama n dollhouses and makes... you move into watching "My Froggy Stuff" and the rabbit hole begins...... i would love to see more videos of your mini asdventure and a stranger things house.....wonderful!!!!!! 🥰

I love this! Tip for future miniatures- if you have craft/acrylic paint you can water it down to get something like a stain! Just paint it on, don’t wipe away ❤

I LOVE THIS!!😍Beautiful Sofa and afghan!!! When i was a kid, my mom taught me to take empty cereal boxes and make sofas and furniture for my barbies!! I would take boxes and draw the wallpaper with crayons - my brother would put lights in the "ceilings" and taught me to use his train track controler to to turn them on! he would use the xmas spare light bulbs. This brought back so many beautiful memories!! Enjoy the process, it is addicting 😂😍

I didn't see anyone mention this already, but you can use the loop stitch to make a miniature shag rug or even wall-to-wall shag carpeting out of crochet.

Theres a trick where you can unravel the beginning chains if you start with too many. You can rip back your first row until you're happy with the width, then use said trick to unravel the extra chains. Hope this helps! I love tiny things I get the desire to make them 😁 plus it takes up less room!

If your miniature journey stops here, you can always use the extra foam you have to make a little floor cushion!

Ok, this is a crazy coincidence. I just got the miniature den kit. Was thinking of making modifications to make Beyer’s living room or Wheeler’s basement. I made a life size afghan this year of the one in Wheeler’s basement and thought it’d be fun to make a mini one. I love the mini blanket, the couch is great too. I may have to try the mini blanket. I have not tackled chevron stitch yet. Nice video.

If you’re looking to get into making more miniatures, I cannot recommend Bentley House Minis enough. Ara has been making miniatures for 10+ years and has had multiple projects in a miniature museum! Her videos are super fun and informative without being overwhelming, and she’s amazing at explaining the process. Not to mention she’s literally recreating the Beetlejuice house rn. MyFroggyStuff is another great option, though most of her crafts are in 1:6 scale (Barbie scale) but they’ve both taught me everything I know!

I've heard wet blocking is for natural fibers only & with synthetic (like acrylic), you'll need to add heat - I've seen ppl on yt use a steamer, but i've sprayed my piece with water, then held an iron a couple inches above for the same effect; essentially, it helps the synthetic fibers relax into the stitch shape, i guess?
@MathaFlanagan9 ай бұрын
If you want to block acrylic yarn, use a hair dryer. It makes it more softer and drapes better

In college (I went to NBCCD) I had an assignment where I had to make a diorama. I decided to make the bedroom where they found Lizzie Borden’s stepmother 😅 I worked so hard on that thing. I cut popsicle sticks for a floor AND wainscoting around the room AND trim around the windows and ceiling. I made a little quilt and even the stepmother herself! I was so proud and I kind of wish I had wanted to keep it… maybe I can make another murder scene diorama…
