I think your battery in your cube went bad. Whenever you unplugged the cube from the charger it immediately shut off. Also the battery looked to be expanded too so it was a good thing you took it out. Thats awesome reusing the cube for something really cool.
@Box2237 ай бұрын
I believe this is exactly what happened. Those batteries can expand and become more dangerous than before. Usually, the best thing to do is replace the battery with a similar or identical replacement. Maybe he will do that and mod a regular cube to turn it into a smart cube using the GoCube components.

The battery consumption is higher because of the microcontroller, not the LEDs. The original chip is probably custom, or a very low power microcontroller. Anyway, awesome job! I like it a lot.

The ESP microcontroller was surprisingly easy to program with the Arduino IDE. From there, you can find example code for just about anything (controlling LEDs, Bluetooth communication, sleep/wakeup), so it was just hours of combining and testing those!

You could optimize the software on the micro controler (maybe it's not optimal - running repetitive code 1000x per second ect. You could also wire up little batteries in each of the centre pieces, and wire it all up in parralel to add more battery life. Cool idea.
