In this video, I show you what I do at the driving range and also who I follow regarding the swing.
Steve and I played Suwan Golf Course and I shot an 80. My driver is coming along but the need to practice and keep grooving is a big deal.
With a double on 9 and a double on 18 because of indecision on the approach shot, the round was actually much better than the score suggests. Putts continue to not drop even though they came closer to going in than the week before at Rachakram.
HogansBookLied on Instagram: / hogansbooklied
There is always room for improvement and it seems I need to knuckle down and get some practice in on the following:
1. I need a new 54° because I don't like the CBX - it's too forgiving. I want to have something that needs precision.
2. I need to groove that swing on 11 where I pumped the driver like a BAUS - it's coming along and with practice, confidence comes. We must however, take a feeling from the range so we can replicate what we learn on the range.
3. I must hole more putts. I have been thinking of replacing my putter as I feel a center shafted putter is what I need at the moment just in terms of my eye, mind and putter agreement.
Without replacing the putter, I think the next issue is really just trusting my initial read and not OVER READING putts. I seems to have started doing that. Visualization and focusing is perfect, but when you look at a putt and start FINDING extra break then you're going to start missing. We often are quite accurate with our initial assumption, but sabotage ourselves.
4. I replaced these irons soon after this round with the Srixon Z585 and the biggest realization is that I was playing around the CLUBS with the Mizunos, but I feel the Srixons play well with my SWING. Tha't s a huge mindset shift and I am loving it.

Thank you a lot for your work! I know that the editing is a lot to do. I hope I could watch your videos till the day you are unable to swing a club anymore. Not sure if it's your video or what, but after taking a more zen like approach to my game I successfully took 5 strokes off my game last week. We all have to adapt our swing at some point to protect our backs etc,personally I have trouble getting to a full finish which in turn has lead to a much lower ball flight.. great for links golf,take the positives! Guys the low hands works!!! I haven’t touched my clubs in about a month( lifeguarding full time this summer just haven’t gotten around to it) went out yesterday and shot 79 was crushing drives with the low hands nail in the back of the ball mentality had a great round. Missed a eagle putt and 2 birdie putts though and could’ve scratched out some bogeys

I have not played golf in a long time, about 3 years. Getting back into it after all this time away. Tomorrow, Wednesday, my new used clubs arrive, last set was stolen. I was able to break 100 once, I have watched about 6-7 of your vids and feel like I can break 100. I have been told I have a swing of a pro but always divot behind ball. Gonna hit the range about 5 times to get my range on clubs then I’m gonna play a round. I will try to video my range and round time. Let’s see what happens.

After a few golf classes and rounds, for once I know more of my distances and I really like the shots from 90 to 100 yards. I have them perfectly controlled. and if the distances are really sketchy, i do prefer to hit a higher club ex (6 over 7 iron), but some times i do need to do the opposite. some more classes tomorrow, and in 2 days a round with a friend. I do want several things, like picking up speed and more, but first control, and get to hit the god dam driver straighter. I used to hit it great, now it became a slice.

@@GolfSidekick today that I played, maybe i didn't improved my score too much, 5 shots, but manage to hi an actual driver, for around 220-250 yard's. usually I cannot hit them straight. A lot more practice is needed. I did cut my back swing, but at the same time, got faster and manage to hit the ball in a straighter line and farther. now to practice the short game (80 yards or less) and another putting session. hitting 8 or 9 holes with 9's is horrible. on the par 5's, I was the only one in regulation. your videos are helping me a lot on my golf. and do feel they help more than any other class, except for an actual physical one. thanks for the support.

@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
It's best to check out hogansbooklied on Instagram - his link is in the description. It's how I've always felt about the swing and how I always played my best shots. In my swing, I think the best shots happen when I drop my hands and the club "into the slot" and fire everything only when the hands and club head drop to about hip height. That seems to sync everything up. I was part of that group of people who were told wrongly by misinterpretation of Hogan's book, that the swing starts with the left hip. I would just spin out all the time and slice it and also have bad back pain. I follow hogansbooklied on Instagram because he preaches the same things I always thought but was alway discouraged against thinking. His focus is to get those hands low and fire that nail into the back of the ball with your hammer applying the club face. It took a couple months to really understand it, but now I feel way more confidence with my driver.

@@GolfSidekick I actually checked out the instagram page before you mentioned the below. I saw from some korean golf channel who preaches "hand & arm" movement in the downswing that talks about similar concept. Thank you playa!

Golf Sidekick that’s why hitting driver is so important to people including me. When you hit it well no other club in the bag elicits those same feelings of joy.

Do you have any KZbin videos on you playing a short but tight course? With tree lines and all that with tight fairways?

Funny, At the range I tried lowering my right shoulder a little, and I stopped topping my irons, started hitting them more solidly and straight. Hope my back doesn’t start hurting.

Feelings in a golf swing can be deceiving playa. Sometimes I think i am mechanically hitting a big fade and I hit a rocket dead straight. My fade swing is actually the swing I should be using. It just feels wrong but its right. Do you know what I mean? You may be fixing a different problem with something that feels like you are dipping the shoulder but youre avtually doing something else but if its working, that is the best part!!!

I think the greatest suggestion of your golf theory is that a playa has to learn to teach himself. This requires trial and error to discover something that works, and verbalization of each setup or move that leads to a successful outcome depending on the shot. The phrases you share help. Even if the you’re abandoned theory helps someone....your ball was rolling great in this film. You never missed low it seems and it always made it to the cup. Did you change golf balls?

@@GolfSidekick when i played comps i was off 16. Took a year off and watched your channel. Ive played 2 rounds in the last month one 8over and one 9 over. Few old bad habits cost me. My short game with your bump and runs helped massively. Sw went away and out came a 9iron or 8iron or pw. Results in 2 rounds speak for themselves and dropped my ego. Apart from on a par 5 went for it in 2 and sunk it into the lake. Course management is crucial on that hole as a lake surrounds left and front of green and ob just behind. Lessons learned.

Playa, you seem to hit your wedges considerably farther. My 60* 40 yds / Missing *56 / 52* 80-85 yds (75 yds I can throw darts) / 48* 100-110 yds / P* 110-125. I am happy to club up rather than over swing, but I am curious! Thanks for your videos I have definitely shaved strokes off my game using your technique!

Hi Matt! I wanted to ask you a question. Were you satisfied after this round? I mean, it's a good 80 but your putting wasn't as good as usual, you missed a few tee shots and iron shots... Do these misses generate frustration on you (after the round, not on the course) and how do you deal with? It's one of my problems actually. I nearly never get satisfied of my rounds... Good job anyway! A good round and a great video! Cheers from France!

Love the video. Is it just me, or are you attempting to tee up the driver very high? The perfect driver on 11 had slightly lower tee height than the other holes
