I Made the LEGEND the EASIEST Fish to Catch

So, hooking fish. The main method the game uses to hook a fish is to look at a fish file that specifies what fish can be hooked where. For the first fish, the game ensures that you can not hook trash. It does this by looking at the id of what you hooked, and if it is greater than 152, it changes to a sunfish. Trash is 167 to 172. This means that ANY fish with an id higher than 152 gets converted to a sunfish. The Legend is id 163 However, there are a few places that dont use the fish file, and have hardcoded checks that bypass the sunfish replacement. The Legend is in one of these places. Any legendary fish, the mine fish, golden walnuts, and decorations/furniture all bypass the sunfish.

I think that BlaDe has a very specific demographic, one that is interested in numbers, analysing things down to the core and honestly, probably not wanting to just have fun. I enjoy the RNG often and am happy not to know everything. I do appreciate BlaDe being around, though, because his insights are very, very interesting. He is wonderful for min/max strategies and creating the most efficient and profitable route through the game. For me personally, that would kill the fun.

Ooo, this is such a neat challenge! The pain of trying to collect all that algae and seaweed though, omg. You are stronger than me, Wickedy hahaha. I'm doing a purely fisherman/aquarium run right now for funsies (as in, I can level up any skills I want as normal, but I'm only allowed to sell fish, recipes involving fish, items I get from fishponds & crab pots, and items I get from fishing treasure chests -- though I can also raise dinos and grow ancient seeds & process/sell those products IF I happen to get a dino egg or ancient seed from a fishing treasure chest). It's a fun, if kind of grindy challenge if you ever wanted to try it (the goal for me is basically to make my beach farm into a big aquarium with one of every fish on display in a tank and at least one of every fish pond color, plus making all the fishing recipes & clothing items). Gathering the resources for all my fish ponds the NORMAL way is slow enough as it is though, since I don't want to spend all my money on stone. The struggle if I had to get all of the algae & seaweed from trash cans & foraging only like you did here as well?!? Oof, I think that would break me haha. Huge props to you!!!

It hurt, it truly did. In one of the earlier tried I did I ended up with a lucky ton of seaweed early on and had 10 ponds in the summer, but I made a mistake and had to throw it all away. Also, that sounds like a really fun challenge!

It was very interesting what counts ingame as catching a fish. I never even thought about this before. For me personally, the Legend is often easier to catch than the Glacierfish. The octopus is a bit easier than the Legend. But these three are my nightmare fish. I had one time when the Qi quest for catching all the legendary fish again took me exactly one attempt with every fish to catch them. That was just great luck.

I love to share my struggle! It doesn't have to be the bamboo pole, I just chose that as it's the starter rod and never got around to buying the better ones. Added a bit to the difficulty for me, because I'm usually hooked on using the trap bobber.

My last challenge I did was that I only sold items acquired through combat or after the corresponding Community center room was completed, so after completing the boiler room I could sell anything from the mines, after completing the fish tank I could sell fish, etc.

To my knowledge, the quests are based on your farm seed and can change depending on what quests you've done already. If you ever want to check what quests you will have, I highly recommend BlaDe's map predictor, which actually has a section to see what Special Orders your get and Walnut Room quests based on your farm seed.
