Buddhist meditation encompasses a variety of meditation techniques that aim to develop sati (mindfulness), Samadhi (concentration), abhijñā (supramundane powers), samatha (tranquillity), and vipassanā (insight). Specific Buddhist meditation techniques have also been used to remove unwholesome qualities thought to be barriers to spiritual liberation, such as loving- kindness to remove ill-will, hate, and anger, equanimity to remove mental clinging, and patikulamanasikara (meditations on the parts of the body) and maraṇasati (meditation on death and corpses) to remove sensual lust for the body and cultivate impermanence (anicca).

"Buddhist Meditation" is looking at the path described by the Buddha to achieve various stages of Nibbana. Mainly there are two Buddhist meditation methods: Concentration meditation (Samatha Bhavana) and insight meditation (Vipassana Bhavana). Concentration meditation has forty limbs, and there is an interconnection between concentration meditation and insight meditation which cannot depend on individually through Buddhism's supreme goal (Nibbana).

The term "meditation" is used to mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. On the advanced paths that focus on mastery of the mind, "meditation" has specific activities that takes the practitioner from the common surface states of mind which are memory, imagination, emotion, and thought, to the depths of the mind which transcends perception from the senses to perception by direct intuition, resulting in an expansion of consciousness... Sitting in silence and using some breathing techniques are beneficial, but acquiring the capability to plumb the depths of the consciousness far beyond the senses of cognition is really where meditation begins....and rare it is to meet someone truly successful in that pursuit...Thank you for sharing the story of your inner journey...

Something you might also find helpful, especially as you face challenges in medical work, is HeartMath... Basically you breathe in a specific pace (causing brain-heart coherence) while focusing on a positive emotion such as love or appreciation. This gives you a bottomless supply of love... But it can also be used in specific ways to get over traumas and various emotional issues... attitude breathing or cut-through techniques can do for you in minutes what no psychologist can do in years... I basically just got their cheap book on anxiety and it has been incredible. i had serious hardcore anxiety problems for a long time... when used correctly on each thing that you have a problem with, its like magic... never seen anything else like it.

Hi, 1. Would you care to share which meditation technique do you practice? 2. Frequency and duration of practice? In another video of yours, you mentioned you practice before and after sleep. So I assume twice a day is correct? And for how long does each siting take? I have seen most of your videos but not sure if you mentioned these 2 points. Thank you

1:44 It's so true that training can literally change the way our mind's work! And just like keeping a gratitude journal trains our brains to notice more good things ALL the time (not just the couple minutes we're jotting things down), the autopilot benefits of meditation FAR outweigh the small time investment. And luckily it doesn't take 600 days to reap the rewards! 😃 This BBC video that shows fMRI evidence of the brain changing with meditation inspired me: 'How I rewired my brain in six weeks' - BBC News.

i think this channel deserved its own followers especially for girls and women in general. it deserved the title idol, not on those entertainment celebrities', kpop idols etc, yes they can make u happy for a while but it wont benefits u long term. u need to explore urself on a deeper level, learn new things, and only ur peers can engage with u thus influence u to do either positive or negative things. keep up the good work izzy, yeah there's up and down in life, but as long as u r anchored to good habits, u will be fine.

Hey(: There’s a couple of times that you mentioned -negative emotions. I’d like to say, in my belief and understanding, there’s no such thing as negative or positive emotions, maybe some are more uncomfortable to feel than others. As example, fear will keep yourself away from danger, sadness will remind you how beautiful it was to be with that one, anger will make you stand your ground for what you value. As you also mentioned, the way we think is the way we shape the world(: For everyone that came to this video for education.. Make the world the way you’d like it, there’s nothing wrong with you, find support if you need it(: it gets better.

Ahh this is wonderful to hear! I've been to one kundalini yoga class but would love to explore kundalini even more!! :) What's your experience with it like? 😊
@alexpiccy2 жыл бұрын
@@IzzySealey Hi, I've been using the concepts of the chakras of kundalini yoga as some sort of self assessment at the start of the meditations (ex: 4th chakra: how am I doing with empathizing and appreciating people? And so on for the other chakras...) I didn't really get the essence of the presumed deep aspects even if I went to classes of it and I've been in touch for some time with the teacher (I was doing advertising, smm and website management for him). I'd love to explore it more too.

@@IzzySealey How do I say this to one of the most amazingly well balanced and harmonious young people I have ever come across without seeming negative ? I have been involved in yoga and meditation before most people on this channel were born and the only yoga I would urge caution with is kundalini . I answer questions on Quora about yoga philosophy ( or rather I try and signpost people to genuine sources ) and the single most group of distressed people I come across are those who have been practising kundalini yoga . Unless you can find yourself a rare genuine expert in kundalini ( who also has the highest integrity)I would treat it with caution. I hate to bring any negativity into what is such a positive life . Ps The Metta Sutta is a wonderful ' prayer ' for developing loving kindness .Best wishes to you 🙏 Peace 🕊️☮️

Dream woman... By the way, Triratna people are really cool indeed. I was part of a small group in Istanbul, founded by one of the order members. They seem to emphasize mettā bhāvanā a lot :) I don't love that horse-riding meditation position though. Too much clutter with all those pillows and filler blankets :D

Ah thank you!! 😊 Yes exactly, it seems they practise a lot of both the metta bhavana and mindfulness of breathing practices ❤️Haha I know what you mean! At home I usually prefer a cross-legged seated position with a zafu :)
@omeringa3 жыл бұрын
@@IzzySealey Yes, mindfulness of breathing is very popular everywhere. By the way, I used to use a zafu, but now I switched to a "tempur seat wedge", which has the perfect density (it supports your buttocks with just the right amount of pressure) and shape (surprisingly!) for a half or full lotus pose... You should check other tempur stuff too, my all time favorite brand!! :)
