The real test is real life combat. If you can drag your 300 lb buddy in fireman's carry 100m and still keep up the fight and do it again 4 times with a mission is when you know your ready. Or bound 1k with all your gear when friendlies are in contact. Being able to handle 2 weeks to a month in sector without hygiene.

There's branch wide physical standard that are different for men and women, because the point of those is to be physically capable and not disgrace the uniform, and there are higher tier fitness standards that are the same for both men and women and apply to specific jobs, IE SF and recon like this fine marine. Becuse the folks in finance doing admin work probably don't need to carry heavy rucks and eat dirt as much as infantry does, the washout rate would be too high for everyone. Any female who makes it through the SF pipeline had to pass the same fitness standards as everyone else. She earned it 100% ask folks who work with her not randos on the internet whos only service is armchair tactician.

I’m 42 and my husband and I still do tactical workouts and the requirements aren’t unsurmountable if you train to be an operator. My problem with female and males in combat together was seeing how a lot of females were sleeping around with multiple guys. When I was a Marine, 20 yrs ago I wanted to be recon …that wasn’t allowable but I strived to be a Marine not a female Marine. it’s how hard you work and you have to be mature. There's branch wide physical standard that are different for men and women, because the point of those is to be physically capable and not disgrace the uniform, and there are higher tier fitness standards that are the same for both men and women and apply to specific jobs, IE SF and recon like this fine marine. Becuse the folks in finance doing admin work probably don't need to carry heavy rucks and eat dirt as much as infantry does, the washout rate would be too high for everyone. Any female who makes it through the SF pipeline had to pass the same fitness standards as everyone else.

Marine Snipers are Scout Snipers because they serve a dual purpose of reconnaissance and pathfinding. It is also very common to put an experienced and intelligent pathfinder in the point position as opposed to the freshest boot you can find. Our attached Scout Sniper units frequently shifted between scouting, point, and tail-end-charlie responsibilities as they saw fit during OIF 1. If it doesn’t make sense, maybe it isn’t the doctrine but lack of understanding and experience. 💡

There are also plenty of male grunts with small and or large frames that have difficulties performing fireman carry’s. Snipers operate all kinds of ways. When I was in the Ranger Regiment we called our snipers Sniper Overwatch Team because that was their primary purpose. But they absolutely able to stalk and were graduate of courses like the Army Sniper School or SOTIC/SFSC.

I remember getting out of 2nd recon bn. During that time they had just recently began this big push to begin the process of placing females in combat arms MOS’s. They had these big meetings where the Marine division commander would try and quail any fears that the marines were having about the outlook of what this transition would look like. Let me just say I am all for women who want to serve. It makes me proud that their are young patriotic women out there who have that desire. That being said the data is out there and prior to Obama changing the rules the marines had conducted thorough studies showing the difference in combat effectiveness of this type of integration. The data was not good. But when an agenda wants to be pushed by politicians it will happen regardless. I’m not saying that Sgt Barth is not a capable marine by any means. I’m sure she is more capable than the average male marine. That being said…it’s not about successfully finish dive school or brc where you regularly get showers and hot food. It’s about longevity and the combat effectiveness after weeks of peanut butter and granola and 85 plus pounds of gear on your back and body and still being able to be combat effective. That is where the big difference lies with males and females in general. And like I said I’m sure Barth here is better than your above average Marine…but the bottom of the barrel male marine has the inherit genetics just by being a male to maintain a relative constant baseline of effectiveness over a sustained period of time that females just biologically do not have. Again im not talking about doing your dive at dive school and crushing it and showering in the evening and repeating it tomorrow. Or doing a stalk at sniper school all day and resting and doing it again the following day. I wish her the best and it’s not her fault at all she is motivated sought an opportunity and crushed it. But this is an example of the degradation of our military. Not to mention the hygiene issues that females have to deal with that males don’t. That is why I firmly believe unless the standards are dropped that you will never ever see a female pass BUDS. The abuse is to long and sustained. A less physically fit man and a mentally weaker man would have a better chance at passing BUDS than your top 1 percent female. It had nothing to do with any thing other than biology. But if Ranger school is any example of how the rest of the military will go then you will have your females who pass BUDS. That female that passed ranger school had freakin 0-6’s and above checking on her. How the hell as an instructor or officer who is running the course do you do anything but give preferential treatment to a student who has that kind of spotlight on them? From what I understand the instructors had an understanding of the only thing that should stop her is an unforeseen injury. Sad times. Sad times

I served USN Special Weapons 81-87 Lebanon Grenada & NATO Europe. In that time, there were NO women allowed with us in combat areas.
