That's definitely a sign of a good comedian. They know that they are there to entertain, and the audience is there to be entertained. Audience interaction can be amazing for comedy, but that's not why anyone is in that venue to begin with. Excellent work IMO.

Heckling isn't always antagonistic. Even well-intentioned intrusions in a stand-up comedy performance can be bad.. It still counts as heckling. It's best to let the performer lead, like with how Nigel is asking this particular member of the audience some questions. He's not inviting all the members of the audience to start joining in. That'd be chaos. And how's the comedian gonna get all his bits in if people keep chiming in.

I'm Japanese-American and I stopped trying to learn Japanese because my dad - who was also born in US - would correct me on the slightest mispronunciation and would say "how can you be so goddam stupid" when I told him that I said it the same way he did. Somehow he thought criticizing effort and breaking his kid's spirit is a motivational tool.
