In the context of the video, specifying that the individual is cisgender is useful information, for this video is about a transgender man, so someone saying that they’ve gone through similar surgery could be assumed to also be a transgender man. Thus, specifying that the man in question is cisgender is useful information. Cisgender is, in fact, a word. It is in the Oxford Dictionary, along with other, also real words. One of the exciting things about language is how it changes to adapt with the times. New words are created to recognise modern phenomena, and older words fall out of existence. This kind of logical deduction is generally assumed to be automatic, but if you ever find yourself confused, you can always ask! The Oxford English Dictionary traces singular they back to 1375, where it appears in the medieval romance William and the Werewolf. I am sorry if you personally find it punishing for your ears, but there is clear historical precedent. Hope this cleared some stuff up! PS. Fun fact - ‘man’ did not always refer to male people. In Old English, males were ‘wereman’ and females were ‘wifmen’. The prefix ‘wer’ disappeared from ‘wereman’ in the late thirteenth century, but you can still see it today in words like ‘werewolf’. Recently, many people are saying that they would like to be referred to exclusively by those pronouns, so it is the more respectful thing to refer to such people with the pronouns that they wish. I understand that it can be kind of confusing at first, but after a very short while you get used to it, and you can tell 99% percent of the time whether it is singular they or plural they from context. I think a good way of putting it is "maintenance" as opposed to actually being a part of your transition. Like, when I had dental work done, any further problems with that tooth weren't considered new, they were considered a part of maintaining and adjusting the original procedure. Same with having to deal with associated problems with previous surgery, maybe? Also, just in case you were worrying, don't feel like you're not creating good content when you do a more serious "life update" video like this. I think it's SO beneficial (when you're comfortable, of course!) to talk about real-time issues that occur related to transitioning. I've never been outwardly prejudiced or discriminatory against the trans community, but I wasn't really an ally until I came across your videos and really started to understand (as much as a cis woman can) what trans people go through and feel, and the actual PROCESS of transitioning. I could ramble on for hours, but suffice it to say that even your more serious or less "entertaining" content is still extremely beneficial, and it makes perfect sense that you don't consider this potential upcoming surgery a part of your transition. I’ve come out as Bi to my best friends yesterday and she was really supportive! I was really stressed cause she was the first person I came out to. My heart was beating so hard, and I almost cried of joy when she said she didn’t care and I have the right of loving the gender I want. I appreciate the honesty, its actually a lot more comforting than going into something blind and not knowing all the facts and details. Like my boyfriend got chest surgery and I'm going to get it at some point in the future and hearing him talk about all the painful bits and accidentally ripping his stitches and the drains was pretty comforting because I felt more prepared.

I didn't have drains, so I can't relate to that part. But regarding the stitches, that's usually caused by moving too suddenly. Like literally too early in the healing process. You think you can move more than your body actually can. This tends to make the scars wider and is not necessarily good for your end results. That being said, you should do small movements everyday so you're not just stuck in one spot. But that's why you can't exercise for multiple months.

I love that you have been very informative about the surgeries and potential complications. As you said surgery is complicated. It's important that people are aware and can make informed decisions about their choices. I hope anyone considering surgeries can see your videos and be encouraged but also fully aware. Too many times I think people tend to either fearmonger or sugar coat things.

I didn't know such a procedure existed, but all can I say is - I drink to the amazing progress our medical technology is making. It's amazing remembering all the fun diseases that couldn't be cured and procedures that couldn't be done, now being freely (or not so freely) available. Good luck with your surgery! Also, irrelevant of who does it, I find talks about genitals weird... I kinda regret watching this, but... Curiosity, cats and all that.

All YT creators like subs, but he understands that likes and subs can be noticed by others. A lot of parents go snooping around their kids' and computers. If they see their kid subs to Jamie it could open a conversation the kid isnt ready for yet.
