I ordered a FIRST CLASS PLANE MEAL from an airline CHEF

Airplane food is probably the ONLY part of travelling I'm not missing right now... but if you make it first class, that's a whole different story. I ordered an actual meal from the official British Airways airline chef... and let's just say I was surprised when it arrived to my house! Fun Fact: An airplane cabin is actually drier than some deserts with humidity measuring at less than 12 percent, in some cases. In an environment like this, your taste and smell start to drift. Scent actually starts to deteriorate even more as the plane starts to climbs to the approved cruising altitude of between 31,000 and 38,000 feet. Sweet and salty foods suffering the most with all of those other flavors spicy, bitter, and sour still making an appearance mid-flight. Now many modern Airlines will accommodate for this lose of sweet and salty by doubling up on the amount of salt and sugar that is called for in each recipe.

That last aubergine came from the back of the box. He showed us where his fridge had made the back of the box soaking wet. The box wasn’t suppose to be refrigerated. Only the stuff inside what is called the “blanket”. That moisture from being in the fridge caused that to happen unfortunately. Hopefully he doesn’t put it in the fridge next time.

I love how you are put off by the fact that you "have to" cook everything yourself but then as time goes by you enjoy it more and more! Yes airplain food is actually good 🥰 but your not able to taste it when your at higher altitude because of the difference in the amount of oxygen and the air pressure in the cabin.

Because plane food is already pre-cooked and not as fresh on land, it's just reheated stuff. The only airlines where the onboard first class food is of optimum quality are: Etihad, Air France, & Singapore Airlines. Etihad is one of two airlines that actually cooks their food on their aircraft.

It’s actually because the altitude and pressure while your on a plane alters your sense of taste and smell so your less sensitive to the flavours in the food while in the air.

You should try to get a Hellofresh sponsorship; one thing a lot of KZbinrs mention is how simple and easy their instructions are, and I dont mean to be insulting when I say that if you can manage to actually make the food without messing up, that would be the only way to convince me of the quality of said instruction.

It’s not just airlines that have been doing boxes like this throughout lockdown. My brother and parents got boxes from the chef Rick Stein that came with all the ingredients and then you had to cook much of it. These type of boxes have been very popular. They make a good experience as you put it.
