IT'S HERE! The Sunny Winter season begins, and you know what that means - exploring the wilderness on Svalbard and staying in small, offgrid, old, cabins! We paid 200nok (20usd/euro) per night for this tiny wood cabin in the middle of nowhere. Come along for a few days of complete isolation in this tiny cabin surrounded by only ice and snow. I hope you enjoy this video showing off much of the magic of this island close to the North Pole! Thank you so much for being here, I love y'all! ✨

Growing up in Westlake Ohio my parents had a woodstove in the basement. My dad would grab wood in the Metroparks through the year, chop it & we’d stack. Our basement was over 110. He inserted a fan through the floor and our wood stove heated the whole house in the winter. One year the gas company came by because they found it odd having $0 bill in Jan.

Nostalgic for me. When we came first time in 1998 we camped on the south side of Hornsund for a month near an even smaller cabin. I have photos taken from some 400m away of a very hungry young isbjorn trying to find a way in. I had to tell friends inside by firing a warning shot. Our communication was by the Norsk Polar Instituut netwok. Came again in March 2003 but travelled with two dog team sleds, camping each night.

You are both very brave and adventurous. I could never do what you do but I so love watching you both. Maybe if I was younger I would have less fear. Thanks as always.

Ooh! Can you ask Christoffer to make the Norwegian potato bread in his next cookbook, please? I'd love to see his recipe! Grim's like, I just want to be in my snow hole! 😂 Do you have to bring gas for the cooking or is there some already in the cabin? I love your cabin weekends! It seems like a simple way to live... no intrusions other than the environment around you. 💜💜 Marianna

The propane is in the cabin. But if its empty we take it to town and next person brings a new one😊

I love watching your cabin videos! I’m so glad you listened to Grimm. He sensed something. 😮 The beauty of this place never ceases to amaze me and just watching the windy icy outdoors felt like I was in a movie. So awesome. Thank you for this adventure ❤❤❤!!

Is the potato bread similar to lefse? My Norwegian grandma used to make lefse with the leftover mashed potatoes. It was so yummy! I haven't had it in many years. Love your channel.

Thank you for your wonderful content! It inspired an amazing trio for my wife and I last week. We both want to return to Svalbard again one day as it was breathtaking and beautiful!

What did you think of the book? It was a little slow to start for me but then picked up and was an amazing read. I listened to it and loved the different voices the reader did for the children. There is a video here on the 'tubes of you' where you can listen to it.

Nice that your vacations are also your job, Hope you get your footage knocked out quickly so you can actually rest and enjoy your trips, I used to have a video business mainly shooting weddings, doesn’t matter if you have your own business or work for others, there’s always challenges that make you wanna pull your hair out😅been there done that.

Vermonter here…same here. When it’s 30 and above with sunshine? We go out to the mailbox in T shirts. Without wind, the sun really makes a huge difference in Springtime. Thanks for sharing, Cecelia. I am loving your shorter videos, as they are still packed w/ content, but timing-wise? It is easier to commit to watching one whilst having brunch. Hi to Christoffer and Grimm.

Seeing you going to the toilet in the out house made me wonder what or if any bugs or creatures you have in such a cold environment. Here in NZ we might have rats, mice, cockroaches, spiders or huhu bugs flying around that would make going to the toilet outside extra scary 😅
