He didn’t explain that it became anything. Hdmi 2.1 does what it’s suppose to do. He says that the hdmi 2.1 on this specific monitor is a fake 2.1 and its really a 2.0. He isn’t saying that 2.1 is really just 2.0 for every monitor.

This has to be it, otherwise Acer has unquestionably the most incompetent marketing dept in the tech industry. It's almost commendable that they've stuck with the same strategy for like a decade, despite every ounce of common sense suggesting that their entire approach is the stuff of brainworms.

Yeah, you're probably right. When I bought my XF270HU back in 2016, I had to be really careful of which one to buy. They actually sold both a TN and IPS monitor under the XF270HU name, just the TN added on "Cbmiiprx" at the end and the IPS was "Abmiidprzx." Apparently, you can change the overdrive with adaptive sync. You have to change the overdrive first and then enable adaptive sync. I'm not sure why ACER keeps doing this to a lot of their monitors. The hp omen 27qs is $300 at BestBuy and it doesn't have that issue.

I’ve had this monitor since 2021 and I absolutely love it. I’ve had it over locked to 170hz since day 1 and I’ve never had a single issue with it. I can totally see where it’s luck of the draw with getting a bad screen. I bought mine from microcenter which is luckily only a 20 minute drive from my house. I don’t really care too much for VVR. I think it pairs decently with my 3080ti but I am in the market for an upgrade now.

While this budget monitor has more caveats than most expensive ones, it feels like all the $800+ monitors also have drawbacks here or there that are big enough to have kept me from buying. My six-year-old TN 1440p 165Hz monitor seems to have degraded in contrast (which was not great to begin with), and I was really looking for something comprehensively better to replace it with. Having said that, your review on the LG C2 gave me the confidence to jump on the Prime Day deal - only the 48" model was on sale on the Canada site, but since my computer "desk" is actually an old kitchen table, I should be able to move it back far enough. I think for $300 it's a decent deal if all you care about is response time and resolution. Someone playing apex or valorant who doesn't care about color accuracy is going to have a better time (at least IMO) compared to a M27Q P. It's not an amazing monitor, but seeing how I was recommending friends to pick up a alienware AW2418H/F for csgo @$80/ea until a few months ago (when brand new 240hz 1080p ips monitors started dipping below $150 reliably), it's an alright monitor for the price. Remember that you could always get some shitty VA 240hz monitor for around $300-350 and those had response times barely reasonable for a 144hz monitor. This isn't a "deal" at $300, but I think it's worth it at that price, so long as you don't get any massive defects.

Something irritating about monitors with such long collections of numbers and letters after the "main" name is that it's impossible to find the exact review of a product. Those long suffixes differ, and while the dimensions and appearances look identical, you don't know what's changed specs wise if even one letter differs.

I absolutely recommend against this monitor. It has massive problems with image retention under specific circumstances, and I've had mine RMAd 3 times and each one of them has had the same exact issue. Every time Acer claims they have no idea what I'm talking about and I have to fight for it. This monitor has caused me more stress than I'd like to admit. I hate it.

Ok. I have this same monitor (older version), this is an issue when you are set to 8-bit color. Extremely annoying because 10-bit, 270hz needs DSC, causing long alt tabs, but it does fix it.

This panel is also used in the xb273u nx. A premium gsync monitor. Also no srgb clamp, lots of IPS glow and 900 euros. Weirdest thing is there’s a calibration report in the box for srgb with less than delta 2 error on any colours. But boot windows 11 and immediately the blue stock wallpaper is oversaturated and can only be fixed by enabling hdr, which puts backlight at 100 percent.

I worked in on-site support 10 years ago for a few years. We used Acer monitors and PC's. I will never buy an Acer product EVER! I've never seen such poor quality equipment. I had hundreds of the exact same issue with monitors and again with the PSUs. This is in an office of 600 people. Meaning I had to replace an Acer product for near 400 people. Between monitors and PC's. In the space of 12 months. They all got to about the 24 month mark and just died.

Ah, I remember buying the XV272U when it was first released because it received good reviews for its color accuracy. I'm doing this a bit backwards, because I'd love to see a review on it, but I already bought it yesterday because of the Prime Day deals. The price was too good to pass up for the specs, lol. The only videos I can find on this monitor aren't in English, lmao.
