For what it’s worth, I really like the style you’re using right now where you do a lot of work, sped up, with narration over the top describing what you’re doing and why. Entertaining and educational! Thanks!

Yes! I have always thought that the parts that are sped up are kind of pointless. You can't really see or understand what's being done, so they tend to be a bit boring. Now with the narration it's much better, thanks!

I knew someone that had an old Satellite that was roller painted it in blue - it really did look awesome! And yes one can't mistake the roller texture for anything but a roller texture even from miles away - I think that was the main reason it looked awesome.

Love this so much. I've seen a motortrend article titled "Retaining that petina finish" where they use high traffic floor polish that you can pick up at any home improvement store. After knocking the big stuff off with SOS pads or similar, where you can also take off tiny amounts of finish from undesirable parts of your petina if you want (the poorly attempted cover ups and whatnot, if any). The floor polish is easy to apply with a rag/sock, pretty durable, super cheap, easy to get a nice satin finish, and brings out just a bit of brilliance to your paint/petina to make it look awesome but still give it some protection and ability to easily wash your car. Just a thought, everything looks KILLER!

I initially thought you were nuts when I saw that blue you were using but then when you took off the paper and it matched perfectly the faded blue from the original patina it all made sense. Looks pretty cool. Great choice. I still think a clear coat on it to get the sheen matching the new paint would just finish it off but opinions are like..****** and most stink.. Well you know... 🤣

That stuff is terrible, it is just a cheap solution. Dirt and dust stick to it, car will look worse than before in a matter of a few months. Sure you can just apply it again, but rather just a clearcoat of matte or shiny would be better.
@TheUnknownlogin
@TheUnknownlogin Жыл бұрын
@spamanator666 its supposed to be terrible, like coating the car in WD40. VGG have many videos showing how to make it yourself and how to apply it. Its terribly cheap but it works as intended. You wouldnt apply canuba wax to patina, so you need something to make it shine. Not a fan of the matte clear. Sure, it looks good at first (which is another issue, looking good), but then starts to bubble, peel and ruin the look. Homemade shine juice for storage, wash it off for show 😂

I remember living in San Diego in 05. I had a red 1988 Toyota MR2 SC. I have been doing body work on it so it had Urban camouflage. There was also a hole in the muffler which made it sound like a tuner exhaust. Aside from the muffler, mechanically it was badass and performed as it should. This is during the same time everyone was suping up the Hondas. I pull up to a light trying to hurry to get to the parts store before they closed so I can fix my wife's van. My mechanic buddy sitting next to me we get to the light... And fast and the furious pulled up next to us. He was reving his engine. My buddy said I think he wants to race. The light changed and he took off... And beat me to the next block wish I was not trying to raise because it was only like 100 yards in regardless of how fast you drove you could never beat that light. Nextlight he was revving up again and looked over at me. I said okay 🤷. The light changed and he took off... The supercharger and those mr2s doesn't kick in immediately it ramps up. So somebody can take you at the line but 20 ft past that? Its a done deal. Supercharger kicks in and we smoked him all the way to the next light. This was about a half mile. They pull up next to us and start laughing asked what the hell did i have under the hood? I replied nothing, its stock (remember a stock sc had a 0-60 in 6sec and even for its age, they could still do it with ease). They got all excited and wanted to go again. I told them I'm good (mainly because I knew that the cops sat right up the road by the parts store). My buddy said just make them think you're going to race. So I revved up, light changed and we took off. I accelerate it all the way up to speed limit. A half a mile up the road at the entrance to the parts store, they were sitting there with a cop behind them. I tooted the horn and pulled into the parts store 🤣👍. There is absolutely nothing better in the world going to have a sleeper and put somebody in their place after they spent thousands of dollars to make their car fast... And here I had $1,400 total in the car and that included the $900 I paid for it🤣.

I've always done the same with cars i love for their exterior patina. A lot of people don't paint the unseen sides and the car literally rots out under them. Paint the guts, leave the skin, the skin rarely rusts past flashing and minor pitting. And for those who really want to seal the outside as well, painting with hot wax is the right method. Not just any wax, because heat will make the car shine unnaturally, but with high temp melt point wax (microcrystalline wax). What Average Joe can get their mitts on melts at 60~90 degrees C, so much higher than common wax. Water just beads off this stuff when it's raining, not a chance in the world to ever melt it except for the hottest days. Also unbeatable in sealing cavities. Caveat: you have to spray something that's 100 degrees C... so it costs a bit, and it is dangerous, you are misting a super hot, skin searing sticking agent after all.
