When you were talking about the way you see water differently, I totally related to you! A couple months ago I was painting trees for the first time so I really had to observe them and watch a lot of tutorials because they are quite tricky! And then I noticed whenever I looked at trees in my backyard or wherever, they looked like paintings to me and would think about how I would paint that specific tree. Art in general changes my perspective in how I observe everything.

Love that! So relatable too. What medium do you use for painting trees? Your art sounds lovely. :)

I’m not a great artist BUT I am a graphic designer. I broke my leg 4 weeks ago and I’ve been sitting a lot so I’ve been catching up on KZbin channels. I watch a lot of different art channels. I think it brings me peace to see beauty from plain materials. I own a business and make signs and stickers, tshirts, accessories etc and that’s how I make art. So while I’ve been catching up from last year when I step back from watching KZbin channels - I’ve been working on digital art to print and cut stickers from others designs I’ve bought rights to and making some wood signs using some new techniques and I’m loving it. Thanks for being real and you’re so calming for me it lessens my anxiety. ❤️

3 ft??? Wow! I saw the finished painting on Instagram and it’s beautiful! I’ve been wanting to use this big pad of Bristol smooth paper I’ve got (13x17 I think) but it’s so daunting. I’m used to 9x12 at the most. I’ve also been wanting to do more pieces with intricate line work (also daunting). So I’m going to start prepping for it by doing Inktober. To keep myself interested I’m going to incorporate an animal with each prompt, because I’m comfortable drawing animals.

I've actually been working on crocheting a bigger blanket for my boyfriend and I before winter. My heater is broken in my house so we need all the warm we can get! Crocheting has actually helped me through the hurricane season (this year wasn't too bad for us though, so I'm thankful for that) because I get really bad anxiety when it comes to bad storms.

I absolutely get your fascination with water. I lived in Hawaii for 3 years, the water is so beautiful! Now living in Maine, I just spent days traveling over 800 miles of the Maine coastline getting images of the water, rocky coast, and over a dozen lighthouses for some upcoming artwork. Loving how this pice came out! Enjoying your channel too! Have a great day!

You're so therapeutic, My fatbit 🤭 tells me that my heartrate has slowed whilst watching you. Thank you for sharing the painting of this piece, it's so very beautiful. The colours match my bedroom perfectly and if I had the money (and you shipped to the UK) I'd definitely want a print of this if not the original. Thanks for putting out inspiring content that is good for ones wellbeing. And to answer your question, over the last week I've been doing the first thing you mentioned. I picked up my crochet hooks and have made a bunch of pumpkins of all sizes and colours (though my brother thinks the small ones are garlic bulbs 🤭) and a whole parliament of bright, woolly owls.

I am working on my jewelry for the moment and making watercolor backgrounds for them. At least I am in the thinking process. Still designing. What colors, how to display them etc... I want to give my display to be beautiful as everything is on display in my livingroom. Not some pre-made cards that you buy in the store, but something from me... so yes... and as I am not able to do much for the moment as of my backpain, it keeps me occupied. I live to watch you paint. Thank you for sharing... and I find it adorable how you both working together. Being together doing your own thing....

QOTD: I’ve got my first proper sketchbook atm and my main focus is to learn how to do abstract pieces with watercolour. And not just abstract, but abstract in a way that feels right for me. Hi, Mira. You popped up on my YT because I LOVE watch studio makeovers 😂 and despite watching hundreds (thousands?) of watching watercolor painting, this is the first time I’ve ever watched someone paint in oil. It’s fascinating! But I’m not quite ready to jump into oil just yet. To answer your question during your video, I’m working on drawing more because I think it’ll up my watercolor game, which is what I love to do. As a distraction, I’ve been playing with gouache and acrylics. But who knows, you might have opened the door to oil too. I am looking forward to your next video next week. PS, I think it’s sweet that your husband is also crafty.

When I have been painting/drawing a particular thing, or building stuff out of Lego (it has happened with Lego, too...), when I see something similar in real life, I start to see how it can be painted, drawn or built. The first experience I had of this phenomena that I remember was when I was doing GCSE art at school and I'd been looking at bushes and plants for a landscape painting I was planning. It goes away though if I don't paint or build Lego for a while.

Mira this painting is absolutely phenomenal!!! 😲😲😲 It's like looking at a photograph! I have always been fascinated by the way water looks, how it changes, how it can reflect light and colour and how it can create and/or change the complete atmosphere/mis-en-scene of a whole project. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to paint water like this - would you ever consider doing an in-depth tutorial or tutorial series for things like water and portraits? I need you to teach me your ways master Mira! 🤣🤣

Portraits are what I am practising just now. I started to learn during the pandemic lockdown and was shielding. I`m no expert but find it so satisfying to have a painting turn out quite well. Working on the measurements on face and body. Frustrating most times but getting there. So plenty cups of tea and breaks. I always leave it sitting where I can see it every time and see what next has to be done or fixed. Wish me luck! I really want to learn how to do water that looks lifelike. For another day though.

Currently drawing/planning a triptych digitally that I will burn into 3 round pieces of wood when finished. For my nephew that was born 4 weeks ago. And working on a jungle bookshelf for another nephew, for in his new room. Cut the pieces and now painting them. For me it’s easier to plan/draw it digitally first before painting or burning it into the final product. And always have a diamond painting laying around I can work on when I don’t feel like painting or drawing.

Beautiful job! You've captured the depth and fluidity of the water so well. I've got a giant canvas a friend bought for me at a yard sale. I've had it for a few years now, and I've no idea what to paint on it. It's both exciting and intimidating. Currently, I'm working on a picturebook, as well as about twenty other ideas in progress or swimming around in my brain. 😂 Not enough hours in the day for all of the creativity.
