I had Renegade Squadron when I was a kid, it was one of my favorite games as I never had any of the other Battlefront games growing up. The multiplayer was kind of a mess from what I remember, every time I tried playing, people would hack the orbital bombardment weapon to behave like the gatling gun and just rapid fire everywhere and you would just die lol

How could you not mention the best part of Elite Squadron and that's the character customization! Lol I'm just just busting your chops, but colors and other customization options that also effect your battalions colors. It was my favorite part. One of the few things I've always wanted in a Battlefront game is detailed trooper customization and this is the closest we have gotten.

I always enjoyed playing battlefront on the DS after playing the first two games on my PS2 forever. Seeing the partial story told in that game was so cool. And progression in the single player was pretty good. The only bad side is the on rail turret section because you need to be super fast with your shots or you'll die

I bought Renegade Squadron on the PS3 psn store a while ago (somehow it's the only BF game available digitally) but after only 10 minutes in Instant Action I was turned off by the controls. After your assessment though I'm gonna give it another try, I love good campaigns.

elte squadron was my first battefront game and i absolutely loved it and years later i got battlefront 2 and honestly was dissapointed in it, my favorite thing to do was take out the enemy capitol ship then go back down to fight the rest of the round, just felt so good

Renegade and Elite squadron were really fun games for portable. The customization and some maps felt incredible for me and I miss that feeling. Especially some of the maps that have really good vehicules. I just wish they would have continued Battlefront with original types of mechanics as opposed to going the star card way. I also remember the campaigns from this game being actually good. I think a merger of Galactic conquest between BF2 and these would have been the best game mode ever for strategy.

I loved Renegade Squadron even if I didn't like how different it was from BFII. It was one of my first online gaming experiences (i never bothered playing multiplayer games before) and it was fun to join servers just to do glitches and go out of bounds in various maps. I remember playing Elite Squadron in my cousins DS and we'll, it wasn't good (fun story: he jumped inside a pool with the cartridge in his pocket and the game somehow survived) But i never played ES on the PSP, i was waiting for a 360 version that never came. I got in in my Vita a year ago, didn't like it very much it was very janky. I still don't understand why they didn't kept using the BFII engine.

I was so hyped for Renegade Squadron. I played BF2 on my PSP obsessively but I wasn't allowed to own a TV console growing up and was sad knowing I only had a smaller version. But when I heard the PSP was getting a unique sequel and it had an actual story, I was stoked. But I barely played it, it just felt like a gameplay downgrade from BF2. I never even heard of Elite Squadron bc I lost interest afterward RS being dissapointing.

Elite Squadron DS is my favorite Star Wars game, I remember playing the game all the time while in car rides, constantly restarting the game cause I was stuck on the Hoth turret defense section. I really wish Lucasfilm games would port all of the old Battlefront games in a legacy collection. Maybe they could remaster the DS game to have it be on par with the og battlefront games graphically speaking.

Renegade Squadron was great. It's map were kind of sadly altered a bit too much like Mustafar but at least we get new ones. I agree the general shooting was awkward but many like the N64 tried to do whatever they could due to the limitations of the PSP. The customisation I kind of ignored at times for my favourites but still not a bad idea compared to the classes of BF1&2. While galactic conquest isn't the same depth because of no classes but customisation it was still fine the additions they added and the campaign making you swap your customisation all the time for specific things while tedious was a good justification than just 'go nuts' as I'd you had unlocked everything that it allows instead of restrictions in place to get the jetpack over jumppack and other features but still a great mix of ideas to make it different. I get people like the original 2 and they were on console while people treat handhelds as lesser but it was a great console game on the go alternative besides BF2 PSP for early Star Wars handheld games. Not played Elite Squadron on PSP (emu a little bit) or DS but it seems impressive even if being BF3 reworked somewhat and areas had to be cut/changed due to hardware limitations, time and whatever ideas they had. I don't know it's features at all other than videos and the menus/an instant action test so I assume the things people say are accurate to be good or bad depending on the person's feeling on the way it was handled. Ah Elite Squadron uses progress of the campaign for unlocks right. The cutscene transitions are fine even if not full ground to space and interior like Non Man's Sky but it's cool for the time just like Haven Call of the King's endgame did of planet travel but battles/cutscenes per transfer between them. I love little touches like the title screen one. The DS version by N Space makes sense as they were good at shooters on the DS besides Geist but otherwise yeah while it reminds me of Killzone Liberation for isometric shooter but clearly not as isometric RPG in game design. Always get surprised by limitations making things more creative in scale and possibilities when done right. XD I'll see how the DS version is then. The EA/DICE ones feel too much like a modern shooter and not all that much interesting going on. The old ones while yes we're based on Battlefield of old the feel is very different and like a battlefield compared to yes being in battle but the scale isn't as exciting with the spectacle they want to provide that isn't really that amazing. Especially when many games feel the same doing that even with it suiting Star Wars doesn't feel as good when in past games it felt like Star Wars more than just a Battlefield game than Star Wars Battlefield EA/DICE not a unique take on Battlefront to me. I haven't played 2's campaign but even still the rest of the modes and content look boring to me. Titanfall 2 has enough of 2 awesome levels and the Titan/pilot back and forth is great to not get bored besides the calmer movements not just full on action all the time in every level but also a good moveset to match that COD never competed with for the sci-fi ones even.

I'll love you to play every Guilty Gear game, I'm sure most people here (maybe including you) don't know what it is, but trust me, they're excellent games. They have a great gameplay, great characters, but the two most important things are the soundtrack and the story.

I got really good at renegade squadron and loved it way more than battlefront 2. the customization on that game was what I have would consider to be everything battlefront 2 was missing. If renegade squadron was available for the xbox and ps2, i think it would rivaled battlefront 2 as the best battlefront (assuming the graphics were on par with BF2)

Man I wish that elite squadron wasn’t a psp only game. Yeah I know there’s emulators, but still though I wanna go back and play it again on the psp. My favorite thing about this was the campaign, the heroes vs villains mode, and the customizable classes. I would literally have the chaingun equipped with the force pike or the electrostaff and just go off with those and I had all the fun a kid would have playing the game.

Watching this episode made me sad, not because of the quality of the vid🤣, but to see what a Battlefront 3 could have become. Seems like it is like a disease many Star Wars games have suffered from, being in development and then canceled, like Star Wars 1313. What I loved about this episode, in general I am not that much into handhelds, so it was interesting to see them here and the "newer ones caught me to go on playing them by myself, especially for the story. BTW. which game did you enjoy most, not gameplaywise but storywise? Or which story gave you the most surprise (although it is, as I understood not canon anymore)? And a question to all Battlefront fans, how do you call the "newer" Battlefront or "older" Battlefront games to differentiate them? As always a big thank you, for creating this vids. I appreciate it a lot how much time and work (like the photos hoped Psp you showed on Patreon) you put in this work. What I also really like to hear is, you always put pros and cons. Even a game might be "not that good", it is like you respect the game in very mature way. Can't wait for part three🤘👍

I've played: Battlefront 2004 Xbox demo/Battlefront 2004 PS2/Star Wars Battlefront 2 demo/Star Wars Battlefront 2 PS2 Xbox and PSP/ Star Wars Battlefront Renegade squadron & elite Squadron on PSP. Talking about Renegade squadron and elite Squadron one of them head tie defenders and b wings and in some maps an asteroid base but interior of the base was a bit long to walk around. I didn't really like they took away class and you had to make your own counter. Yeah you can find 2 TV spot trailers for elite Squadron one where it's called Battlefront 3 and 1 where it's elite Squadron I remember both being on TV.

there was a pretty far in development fan made BF3, EA caught wind of it and squashed it. They were using original BF3 code. Though this team did not initially give up, they created *Galaxy in Turmoil*, which was basically from the ground up, any SW properties removed, spiritual successor. it seemed promising at first and had a few alpha runs, but clearly a lot of work was still to be done. The initial hype started dying, some inner conflict with the Devs (this is what I gathered from the GiT discord), have put in sort of Dev. Hell. The last build I got to play was really bad, which was sad. Definitely look into researching it for part 3 as like an honorable mention.

Cloned Jedi *ARE* a concept that was look at in the old Legends canon. More than X1 and X2. And Starkiller's clones. You've got Jorus C'baoth a clone Jedi turned mad dark Jedi, and his clone of Luke Skywalker using his severed hand who wields Anakin's old lighsaber that Luke lost on Bespin, Luuke. There was also this one clone Jedi in the book "I, Jedi." I can't remember his name. I think it was a few letters and a bunch of numbers. I didn't read that far into the book. I also agree that the DS version of Elite Squadron is the ideal version for the story. And I'm not saying that just because Rahm Kota shows up... I'm also saying it because it has Post Endor content set during the Imperial Warlord Period, which is always nice to see. F*ck the First Order.
