I'mma be honest, this WCQ was so much better than last year's Tear format. I was so surprised to see so many different decks. Fire-King Snake-Eyes wasn't even that prevalent for me. But this whole 16 card handtrap format gotta be the most annoying thing about YuGiOh right now, ngl.

Whenever I wasn't playing against Fire it was Tear, Purrely (...sometimes both at the same time), and different variations of stun/floodgates.

Combination of Jormungander, And the field spell not being a once per turn in Rescue-Ace combined with the right discards is the strongest deck iv ever played tbh. If you can protect Jorm with Elf and then the Rescue aces playing around it you effectively swallow all your opponents good cards and just discard your metalfoes fusion or shufflers or a rescue card for the field spell to send back. Its nutty fun

I barely qualified for stage 2 as I finished my gem farming, and I was not even gonna bother with the grind. The format is boring, whoever resolves C wins 90% of the time, whoever resolves combo through hand traps first wins 90% of the time, and random stun bozos who probably also hate the format are still everywhere... Just not a good time for lower powered decks. I was getting violated by the roach while trying to have fun with FK Tri Brigade, so I just played Lab the rest of the way and accepted that I'll probably have to shit my pants and cry when I see a FK card. Decks that don't make you go bald when seeing the bug are so much less stressful to play, but it limits me to like, Lab and Branded. This shit is so ass.

I wasn't here for tear format, but to me it at least sounds more entertaining. It wasn't a format of "compare hands and see who can resolve their 1 card combo.". Maybe I'm just bias though, my favorite deck of all time was lightsworn, so I've been addicted to gamba and explode for more than a decade lol.

nah, tear sucked hard. because of tear everyone was either playing tear or anti-tear stun. tear might be fun in bo3 but in bo1 it absolutely sucks. plus we didn't have bystials for 3 months.

I can feel stage 2 like this, the first day I didn't understand what was going on but I completely won and only lost 1 match with fire king but on day 2 I met mostly rescue-ace and So the losing streak started because my hands were pretty bad when I met rescue-ace, the third day I rested and on the morning of the last day I played my last match and yes I paid back the debt that rescue-ace gave me. received from day 2 with a convincing win against rescue-ace a dumb player floowandereeze 15 seasons wrote back my thoughts and I ended up with 14,633 points. Additionally, I hardly have any difficulty with fire king, but with rescue-ace, you understand, it's too annoying

Congrats on grinding out the 2nd stage. Im still not over Tear/Branded/Lab but theyre not doing so well in this meta so im not motivated to play the new cards. I feel like i always make the mistake of building the new deck and then realizing its not very fun.

I'd argue prosperity is better than pot of greed. Getting 2 (most of the time, unknown) cards off the top of the deck, is worse than excavating 6 cards deep and picking the 1 card that will do something relevant. Extrave and desires were a pot of greed with a (most of the time) downside... It's why those cards weren't in every single deck, only decks that could run it if they could either plus from the downsides, or just weren't effected, but prosperity is different.

Didn't play in the second stage but in the first stage I had roughly a 80-5% Winrate with branded (without sanctifire). Super Poly hard carried me.

What a great tournament format, I love taking PTO for the opportunity to be near people that haven't showered in weeks. In all seriousness, that Mathmech game felt like justice bro, nice lol. So this time around I only had one day, Saturday, to actually play both stages. I ended up doing much better this time around at about 16k points. What I found helped the mental was taking a break and playing a game of Slay the Spire or two then playing about 2-3 more games of the event. It helped it stay fresh and playing a different, less frustrating, card game kept my headspace on combos/strategy. I basically played the same Mannadium list as last time but with S:P in the deck. That card is actually stupid lol. I definitely won a few games off of S:P as my clutch interruption. So whatever your cooldown game is, that might be the sauce. Less raw volume, but overall fresher mental I think is a decent strategy if you start at day 1 and block out your games.

Me playing 40-80 games per season when this dude playing 200 games in a weekend smh. Lol I feel you on the coinflip hands though. At one point in the WCQ I lost 7 coinflips in a row and 9 out of 10. Then two days later lost 6 straight coinflips and 7 out of 8. Had me contemplating switching to Mikanko for a sec.

I struggled and eventually failed to get that freaking last win to max it. I reached the moment four times and lost all of them against decks which my deck is weak (Stun, Runick, Sky Striker, Labrynth). Something kind of similar happened at the Duelist Cup.

I have Snake-eyes and Rescue but playing a fire deck now means you have mostly mirror matches or stun decks built to deal with yours and thats not very fun. I've dueled against about 40% fire decks, 40% stun decks and 20% other copium and got like 19k but had to stop because my mind was breaking. I've been toying with PUNK/Kash/Horus synchro/r8nk build and the other deck Unchained with medium Labry engine with low HTs. I think mixing powerful engines is better that playing one jillion hand traps since Veiler and Imperm are not as impactful as they used to be thanks to S:P and Kirin, also common banishing floodgates completely stop Veiler. The only truly impactful non engine are now Maxx C, Ash, Gamma, Nibiru and then cards that stop them like Crossout, Called By or mitigate them- TTTactics.

I think I could’ve at least made it into stage two if had started my grind earlier. I would I’ve played kash too but I spent a week prior building a Fluffal/Unchained Runick Deck that got me to stage 18 but I would’ve immediately switched to a meta deck if i made it in. your rescue - ace deck is pretty much the exact same as mine and I personally think it's the best way to play r-ace but I would recommend adding barricadoborg blocker for awkward hands and it really comes up ( for example when you drew poplar and 2 traps you would've summoned turb ) and 2nd poplar and if you play apo you might as well play binary sorcerer and crystal heart to get easy access to it

The line to Apo is after you summon Turb with S:P. It's always about protecting Turb first then bridging to Apo if your hand allows it.

Nah bro it was rough honestly even with branded I could only peak at 17k and floated up and down around 15k and just couldn't get higher than 17k personally I really wanted to do this years wcq with voiceless voice I thought Konami would have released it not long after snake eyes but how could I forget gotta keep the best deck at the top right? Yeah with branded I was getting hand trapped to death even if I could play through 1 I'd get another 1 or 2 thrown at me completely stopping my play and my opponent gets to play or going second I'd get the most unoptimal hands. The gamma discussion is funny recently I saw someone stream chucking out maxx c in draw phase and I pointed out maxx c draw phase isn't good my argument was you play into gamma and get punished like this someone in chat uses tactics as an argument so I replied this whole format is a handtrap war even if you maxx c draw phase and you draw into hand traps then you obviously going to use them in main phase so you play into talents anyways. Gamma was everywhere I can bet those players who think like that got punished the most

Grinded late late friday night (after 10PM) and all saturday basically. Then like 4 games Sunday. Finished 32k with Lab with 60% winrate. I had access to any deck but i just like the variance of Lab. Made the grind feel like less of a grind. Only Kirin i was happy to see that weekend was the cold one from my fridge tho 😅
