DOS1 was wack in the original (not EE) version - it let you combine Lone Wolf with Glass Cannon. Played it that way and it was... experience. It's rare to find build THIS busted in cRPGs and this was one of them.

divinity 2 ego draconis was the first larian game i played and probably the only other rpg i played as a kid besides the gothic games. its kinda insane how they went from that to baldurs gate 3

I loved Baldur's Gate 3 so much that I got Divinity 1 and 2, played 2 and I loved Divinity Original Sin 2 so much that I will deffo play 1 lol. At the moment all I play is BG3 and DOS2. They are such good games that I would be happy continuing like this at least a full year.

Part of me regrets not having Jahan in my party cause I went with Wolfrag the deaf rogue & the wold chick Bairdaugthr or something , especially when I saw him make a big appearance in DoS2. But good stuff DoS1, I also went into it after BG3, and now also enjoying the heck out of DoS2. One big gripe and something I feel DoS2 & BG3 have over it, is the sheer vertically used in battles too as there's none of that in DoS1 - still, for the kickstarter game that saved the studio it was a real banger.

So I know its not turn based ect... BUT, in my opinion one of the best Larian games ever made is Divinity 2: Eco Draconis, also called Divinity 2: Developers cut on Steam! I've played and completed it maybe a dozen times, it's one of my favorite rpg games and if you're looking for some amazing Larian story telling and world building it's a must play, would love to see you play through this one for sure =) Plus some dope ass dragon stuff happens, but I wont spoil it!

Oh yeah, 2 places in act 1 are super tough - robot 3k without remote control and naive adventurers from city surviving (he's lvl 6, you are lvl 5, maybe venturing into pirates cave would bridge the gap). And Braccus - that meteor stuff is just insane, drink best fire resist potions you have and position your party carefully.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is, imo, still Larian's best work. Baulder's Gate III felt shackled by the DnD concept. I think everything I disliked in Baulder's Gate III was due to DnD, and everything I liked was due to Larian.

I love Original Sin 1 and 2 as well, but in a complete opposite way, while I kinda enjoy BG3, I also played the originals, so BG3 doesn't hit the notes it needs for me in order to be a baldurs gate game. That game is shackled by Larian game design for me instead. Feels like I am playing a DnD skin of Divinity (yes, even if it's all basically paper perfect 5E dnd), which is why I still haven't been able to finish it. The art style is great in BG3 though. Guess we both will be happy that their next project is allegedly an original IP? If it is an already established IP of theirs or not is yet to be seen though.

Telekinesis+Poison Gas Geomancy/Fire Spells+Wind Up Toy is how I beat this game. Couldn't have won without ground effects and AoEs.

Ah yes, DOS1, an ultimate engine test for DOS2. The narrative was slapped there within 3 days (inb4 I will be torched, Swen's words, not mine, about the narrative). Still, in terms of systems, turn-based combat (even tho ecnounter design and map/dungeon design, including verticality was not yet there), quite unique for cRPGs with all the immersive sim elements and interactivity (completely driven by Swen's bias about UItima 7 being the best game ever made), and also totally with duo co-op with all the minigames and two created characters, to re-create tabletop feel. 100% certified Larian game in whimsical style and not taking itself too seriously, systems and narrative tbh. DOS2 is much better tho, like 200% Larian game, which also pushed fully voice acted within cRPG subgenre.
