Not sure if you mentioned it because I couldn’t watch the video but Brian Williams said if a special guest referee is a part of a faction, and that member is one of the ones in the match that referee will favor his faction mate and if the special guest referee is a face, he will lean more towards being fair and if he is a heel, he will lean more towards being unfair. I hope 2K looks into adding in that feature later on where guest referees could also be included for tag team matches and so on instead of 1vs1. I’m sure 2K would probably add it in a future patch and announce it on X before anything. I’m crossing my fingers 🤞🏻

Heres the thing, its all well and good explaining what involves playing a special ref match. But if its too technical it completely takes out the fun of doing these kind of matches if you can't do what you like.

he had said that if you choose the 'dirty' option at the start of the ref selection then you dont have to worry about your ref getting ejected. so you can just beat up the other guys whenever in wrestler mode and then just switch to ref mode to count the pin with i guess the 'select' button

I was disappointed when I found out special guest ref is limited to only 1v1 but then I thought “ok, as long as we can use it in any 1v1 modes” but now I find out it’s only for normal 1v1? No hell in a cell, no cage matches? Arrrgh! Oh well. Still looks fun though. I guess they’ll give us more next year.

In classic 2K style (and THQ style to a certain extent), they introduce a mode, a match type etc that people have been waiting for right before the new game comes out and then say "Well, we're limited here but if you spend another 60 bucks at least next year, then you'll be able to do this much more!", I hate it so much. In WWE2K14, they didn't say "It's only 1v1 in this game but next year it'll be available in multiple man matches!" no you could just do it in multiple man matches. One of the many annoying aspects to modern gaming.

I’m really looking forward to updates to CAWs since 2K seems to leave updating the roster to the current content up to the talented online community. I hope they increase the amount of CAWs and Images we can have and decrease the save file size this year. Looking forward to your review of that mode :)

I destroyed a match today by doing something that I see a lot in real matches and that is the infamous quick count. I think I was playing as Dom so that made it even funnier since he's part of the judgement day. I will admit it definitly would be nice if they had expanded special guest referee to more match options.

I don’t see it only being 1v1 as a downside. Everyone wanted special ref back and we got it so that’s all that matters to me. Not to mention it’s the first special ref mode in a long time so it’s similar to when they brought back GM mode. Started off small and simple but it’ll improve in future games.

i'd say the biggest negative is not being able to edit the ref shirt/attire - with our own logos for the sleeve and pockets - i don't want a modern day WWE ref shirt in my fantasy WCW or Attitude era universe

He mentioned team members getting auto-suggested on character select screen...did they take this away in 2k23? I still play 2k22 and this was never not a thing, if you had assigned team/tag members, on character select it would auto select them when you selected next wrestler.

This is what I hate about yearly releases… They add a “New” match/feature that we used to have years ago. They limit it greatly. And then they add a little bit to it over the next 2-3 years. Then they’ll probably remove it again before re-“debuted” it another 5 years later

That tag team in the rumble feature needs to work for CAWs and their factions/Teams this year. It’s stupid when my faction is in a rumble match or battle royal and start fighting each other right away despite there being 6 other people in the ring
