The best lesson is as follows...... Before every shot, think about flowers and puppy dogs. I'm not a great golfer, but I'm pretty decent. When I think about flowers and puppies I shoot in the '70's. When I think about my wife I shoot in the high '80's.

Clay great lesson and drill. Years ago I lucked into to something similar for pitches up to 20 yards. Picture my neighborhood street to the right of my alignment direction. The sidewalk to the left. In between was the median strip of grass, about the width you suggest. BTW my yard was to the left of the sidewalk. I put targets at 5, 10,15 and twenty yards and had a shag bag of about 50 balls. Chipped to 5 feet first then on to 20 yards. If I missed the strip right the ball would roll 30 yards down the street and if I hit the sidewalk not as bad of a roll out but bad. Over time I got deadly accurate hitting the center of the strip of grass. This allowed me to get to a 10 handicap. And the mechanics flowed through to my full swing as well and eventually got to a 4 handicap. Sorry for the length of this Comment but your method works!

I’m right with you and the answer is no. I’ve tried different coaches and strategy. I think it takes 10 years for most people. Some people are more natural but some of us others simply are not. I just don’t want you to get your hopes up because I’ve done been there and it’s very frustrating. I had to quit golf several times because I worked so hard for nothing. I actually got worse.

Thanks Clay. How about a video on which tee box people should be hitting from? In addition to a lot of other things like lessons, practice, and your videos, I recently started hitting from the tee box appropriate for my driver distance and my score dropped significantly. I stopped trying to be the hero off the tee and switched to playing according to my current skill set (a 190 - 200 yard drive), or approximately a 5,500 yard course. I didn’t realize the score card had course yardages (not just hole yardages) for a reason! My rounds are so much less frustrating and way more enjoyable now. Love your videos!

This is a good question is the tee box based on skill or length? I’m not a huge hitter but I s don’t consider myself a short hitter either. Driver around 270 (total), in theory I should be longer but I struggle hitting up on the ball and my spin numbers are too high. Anyway I usually score high 90s. And I wonder if I should move up to the senior tees or whatever they’re called
