Interesting experiment. I inadvertently did something similar maybe six years ago when I played audio from Angelina covering either Ella Fitzgerald or Dinah Washington in the car. Right away, a 14-year-old passenger piped up: "Who is this;? It sounds like a kid!" So it's probably more accurate to say she sang like an adult than SOUNDED like an adult back then. I slowly began to realise this for myself but it seems like seeing her first primes the listener's ears to expect something they definitely won't be prepared for.
