I've tried both, I had 0 issues with T-Mobile, but I had Verizon as a cell carrier, so when they offered 5G in my area I picked it up fast and tried it for a month, they were both great. But Verizon gave me $25 off for being a cell customer and then a month later, gave me $10 dollars off for loyalty. So I'm only paying $10 extra for 5G internet.. it's been amazing.

@@kristenyergin3397 I've never had my Home Internet throttled ever. I mean it's always throttled.. but it's never reduced lower. It's 300mbs down/ 20 mbs upload. Been using it all day so far and still getting 300/20. It'll be the same the rest of the day also. I work from home.

Nice video, Michael. I've had T-Mobile's Home Internet for several months, after Comcast decided it was time to raise the price AGAIN. Since I use T-Mobile for cell service the home internet service is $40 a month, less than half of what I was paying for Comcast with 80 MBPS download speeds and their stupid data cap. My speeds on T-Mobile vary from about 26 in the worst case scenario to 400 in the best. Since I'm not a gamer, and only really need it for use with Video streaming and regular internet use, that hasn't been a problem.

We've been long term xfinity customers in metro Detroit area.. and they just tried telling us that wifi plan was going up from $35/month [not incl. Modem], to $62/m. for same speed & no other changes.. so roommate went to the actual store, & got 12 month deal for $30/m., which is obviously $5 less than current bill, & $32 [over double] / month less than the proposed price rape they attempted to simply charge a current/ loyal customer upon renewal of their services.. I understand we're not a priority at low speed & no rental Modem, but maybe a 77% increase shouldn't be a corporate policy, but only until it is noticed by a paperless billing client, I'm sure small enough a % to insert these practices, where they grow profits from all the also autopay plans and a default setting which starts paying the $62 vs 35, until you're now forced into reading line by line, statements from checking & wifi bill, which also had to remember to login to your apps, due to no monthly mail to the curb, [otherwise it's a extra fee].. maybe that fee is not for saving the environment, but more importantly the sales tactic that's biggest responsible for inflating yearly contracts 77% without any initial blowback, and if you get caught-- you just throw $5 savings instead, and you still keep the customers, & the lid on your secret, because they are satisfied, & not motivated by having to search elsewhere, so not even a social media issue. So don't ever go along with it.

It wasn't so much as playing games with the billing, it was lack of consistent service when I moved to an apartment. Xfinity was down more than up, they knew what the problem was, but wouldn't fix it. No problems with T-mobile, but then again I do have line-of-sight with a tower.

i'm going to test out verizon myself coming from spectrum 1gig plan with no problems for a whole year, i moved into an apartment that has no coax but in a great 5g area so we'll see.

I switched from Spectrum to T-mobile. Spectrum was charging me $100 a month for just internet access. When I called them, they lowered it to $55 for a year, and then it would automatically go back up to $100. The service was generally good, but seemed to expensive. I switched to T-mobile 5G, and now my bill is only $30 a month and the rate will not change. The speeds are about the same, and so far, I haven't noticed any slowdowns. I like the idea of paying $360 a year rather than $1,200! My speeds are typically between 250 and 500 mbps download and between 20 and 40 upload.

Thank you for this video Sir. I currently have Verizon internet and phone service and also purchased new iPhone at Verizon store. I didn't wanna make a thousand trips to different places for either internet or phone services, rather do everything in one business and I'm happy with that, paying a "fair" price for everything. Just received an offer in the mail to join T-Mobile's phone and internet service. And just became a senior citizen at 55, but I didn't see anything good about signing up for T-Mobile at senior prices. Plus I live alone, no family no friends and prefer it that way. And all I saw were "family" plans, so that leaves me out! Happy with Verizon...........so far!

Great summary. I have Verizon at $25 month and have no issues. About once a month a bounce the box to have it reset itself which seems to improve speeds. I'm not sure what is happening but assume it refreshes itself on the Verizon network which seems to clear any latency.

Excellent Video!! Location does matter !! And have used both halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee !! And last year big differences between them !!! Verizon back no home internet yet available!! 40 to 30 Mgb download!! Or 5G !! T-Mobile 400 to 500 download!! I knew ahead about Verizon and figured maybe 4 months for upgrades to catch up?? I did notice 5 to 6 pm heavy traffic with T-Mobile and adjusted and now both cellphones on T-Mobile and they do constantly and fast Towers upgrades !!! And all the companies really need to push harder on Rural areas especially with that free money from the Government !!!

Both can be really good or really bad pending proximity to tower, congestion, tower backhaul, and what bands are transmitted from the tower.

As for as NYC T-MOBILE speeds in the day 180 -200 mbps down. Early morning hours 2-3am 300-400 mbps down. I've had T-Mobile for 2yrs.FACTS

I've had Verizon home 5G for about a month now. Much cheaper than Comcast, speed is faster than what I was getting from Comcast too. Though internet up time is slightly less reliable than Comcast. Since I'm only paying $25 for my Verizon home internet I can happy put up with the rare internet outage here and there. They only last 10 mins at most. Where as when Comcast goes out, it can last hours.

I liked the review. Michael. please do this test again in two months. I agree with the other comments below, it is all about how many people have FWA and what the load is on that tower. I know T-Mobile is having a hard time keeping up with the demand of FWA. They are maxing out some of their cell towers and they have to limit speeds. I don't know if Verizon has enough customers to have that issue just yet. In the end, this is a good problem to have for both companies.

I think there is more to it to compare. Beside the speed and latency, there are router features that are currently only available on the Verizon 5G routers and not on the T-Mobile. Features such as modifying DHCP subnet, and WEPS which are not available in the T-Mobile router.

They have slots available for certain areas! So if someone gets T-Mobile next door it eliminates the slot available for that area until a slot opens. I had T-Mobile and switched to Verizon and I am happy that I did

I've had T-Mobile internet for about a month, and it's great! During the day, I'm getting an average of 200Mbps download and 40Mbps upload. Late at night, it slows slightly to 150/30. The only problem I have with it is that I cannot get it to support WiFi calling. We have a combination of iPhones and Pixel phones in the house, and neither brand works when WiFi calling is enabled. I'm hoping T-Mobile fixes this issue with a firmware update in the future, because I do have a few dead spots in my basement. WiFi calling worked with my previous ISP, and there were no dead spots whatsoever. Anyway, just thought I'd mention that. Thanks for your review! 🙏

That's odd. I have the round Nokia Home Wi-Fi. I have a pixel 6 and an LG Velvet that both it was absolutely no problem setting them up for Wi-Fi calling. Just log them into the router

@@Mark-ix8rz Thanks for your suggestion. I have the new modem that's in the video and using the Netgear Orbi mesh router system. Like I said, everything worked perfectly with my old ISP with the same router settings. I tried connecting the phones directly to the T-Mobile modem, and still no success. I've Googled the issue and no one seems to have a solution.

You should have added a disclaimer either at the beginning or end of your video stating that 5g internet will vary based on not only your proximity to a 5g tower but also where you place the device. High, low, near a window, away from a window, are there objects like trees and building surrounding your home? Number of devices using the same network, etc... things like that will factor in the types of speeds you get throughout the day.

I have had Verizon 5g home internet for about a year now and I love it. I had Comcast before, it was good and fast but I experienced several service interruptions, specially after heavy periods of rain. My Verizon 5g home internet has not dropped out not even once. Also the price is much better, between my home internet and my cell plan I only pay around $110 for unlimited data for both, much cheaper than I was paying with Comcast.

I've had TMO for over a year and have been very happy with them! I usually get well over 100 down (usually over 200) but my upload varies from 8-50. (yes, you read that correctly) Overall, for $50/month, I'm not complaining at all!

I have had ATT Fiber for a few years now and I love the service. The price I got was $100 total per month including fees and it has not gone up yet. I want to say I have had it for at least 5 years. Speed is very good at 1Gbps up and down and is very consistent. So why am I watching this video? I am looking to develop a property that does not have access to cable internet or fiber internet yet. And I dont really know how long it will be before it does have access to those. So I am looking for something that will provide decent usable speed for working from home and streaming video so I can move when the property is ready

We have Tmobile home internet and love it. Been so reliable. Down 200-600 and up 30-50. Pings around 20 to 30. I do not use the wifi on the Tmobile unit cause it sucks. I use my router plugged into it and use its wifi and get way faster speeds than it does FYI.

I have my Verizon 5G router connected via an ethernet cable to my desktop. I get speeds similar to what you are posting when the server selected by the Speedtest application is used (usually a Verizon server). However, if I change the server selected by the application, my results vary tremendously. For example, selecting a CenturyLink server at several hundred miles from my home gives me over 1500 Mb/s download and 300 Mb/s upload. So, the 5G Verizon wireless connection to my residence, at least, is clearly exceeding the company's declared performance specs with respect to throughput.

3 year of Tmobile here. In the early days it's was hit or miss. Don't have an option other than dsl which on a good day was 10mb download. My nokia aka the trash can took a crap after two year, got it replace with the arcidia model. As long as the speed is over 100megs down load ever device runs smooth. Now there are time when it drop down to 30-40. But honestly overall I have no issue with it for the price. I have no problem with wifi calling on att. No issues with any of the streaming apps even Netflix. It runs 4 TVs an Xbox and 8 cameras with no problem. For gaming though you can tell the kidos are on it it take few seconds for the TV stuff to load. But honestly for 50 bucks it's not perfect but I'd give it a solid 9.8 out of 10.

Thank you for this video. Loved AT&T until they had an outage in my area - today is Day 9 of NO INTERNET. Doing everything from phone or work. Figured it was time to check out alternatives. BUT I am a singer-songwriter and often upload YT content or recordings to the person producing my music. So I don't know if I'll wind up being frustrated by 5G. But internet vs no internet??? I guess that's my main consideration right now...

This was very helpful. However I've had a slightly different experience with TMobile. I find their upload speeds often exceed the download speed. It's often above 40Mps. I don't have Berizon Home Internet yet, But it offers a better deal with allegedly better reliability. I'll try it out when it comes to my area...they keep sending me ads in the mail, but when I check it's "Sorry, not yet available in your area.

Hi, I enjoyed your comparison. I'm a 20 yrs T-Mobile customer and took advantage of their recent T-Mobile 5G at Home $25/mo offer for TM subscribers. I live in Los Angeles County and I routinely see most of the time speeds of 300 Mbps DN / 50 Mbps UP. But yes.on occasion between 4 pm to 8 pm I have seen my speeds drop to still very acceptable levels. But I've seen that occur on my Spectrum Cable Internet too..I attribute those speed drawdowns to kids coming home getting on the Internet and East Coast traffic increasing. While I'm a FanBoy of T-Mobile, I'd encourage anyone to give either T-Mobile or Verizon home Internet a try.

I believe that T-Mobile is superior because there is no commitment to worry about, unlike what Spectrum required of me. Thus, I won't switch to the Verizon contract plans over the no-plans with a $5 discount. My vote goes to T-Mobile. I did experience a few disconnects, but all they require is an external antenna.

We tried Verizon 5g home internet. Tmo was not available to my area. Verizon 5g tested way faster when I first set it up at 4pm than my Comcast performance starter plan. However later in the evenings after 8Pm to 11pm we seen slow lagging connections. We weren't able to even stream a KZbin video like this one during those hours. Other times the performance was faster than my cocmcast service. We tried over several days and the same patterns showed for about a week before we just decided to send it back and stay with Comcast. The router they provide also was weaker and not able to cover some areas of our home as well as our TP-LINK router. Because I had Visible fir my cell phone i would have been able to get the Verizon 5g an additional discount off the regular $50 price. But not being as stable whenwe most likely would be using the services is a real problem and deal breaker. The good thing is Verizon has a satisfaction period of 30 days so we were able to try it and not pay anything at all for the service.

I have the Verizon one and it works well enough as a media, even some gaming. I work from home and have a thin client for work that is connected to DSL. I tried connecting my thin client onto 5G but it was laggy as hell, would even freeze up. So I'm keeping the DSL for work but have the 5G as a home backup. May try streaming with it and see what happens.

I got the verzion 5g today, $60 base plan, excluded the $25 cell discount, then I still need to pay $35 per month. And I test the speed: 50 Mps 4pm on Sunday. This speed is same as the description in the "plan": 25-50Mps. It is hard to handle 4k videos, and Spectrum's $40/M 500 Mps is more suit to me. I dont know how others could hit 300+ for downloading speed. A little disappointted. If you need to play games or watch 4k videos, cable or fiber are much better choices.

5g wasn't available in my area but I got Verizon lte home internet my speed averages around 50 mbps me and my friends have done online gaming and it was fine but the only problem I've had with it is I had to reboot the router once or twice but other than that it's been much better than my old earthlink internet which was only 6mbps

I think that it’s good to point out also on T-Mobile home Internet service that it’s also mobile compared to Verizon which is not. Mobile is not good in all locations either. It depends on your location where you live that will get you the best Internet service possible. I have T-Mobile right now but it constantly buffers and will not work at all with Hulu live TV. I think Verizon is better becsuse it uses real connection and a much more reliable router.

You really should point out T-Mobile uses CGNAT and Verizon does not. With Verizon, you get a real IPv4 address opposed to T-Mobile. It's also worth mentioning that T-Mobile allows you to do absolutely nothing with the gateway outside of changing your wifi settings. Verizon's gateway acts as a fully fledged router, and has a bridge mode for those wanting to use their own router where as T-Mobile does not. I'm on T-Mobile, but I'm hoping to have Verizon home 5G available here soon. I'm in a newly setup c band area so I imagine it's coming soon.

If you're city offers SPECTRUM INTERNET. And you receive EBT or have medi-cal or any gov assistance. You can apply for the gov discount directly from spectrum (you will have to provide proof). You will pay $25 flat for 300 down, 25 up. (As long as you continue to receive gov assistance) AT&T offers something similar but not this good.

I have Verizon 5G internet, cell and "home" phone. The months that I have been on the service I have had constant problems with all three services. My internet may be out, have to reboot to get it back, so keep the gateway somewhere you can get to. Sometimes I can't call out or receive calls on my cell. Often my "home" phone which is the older style of handset will not receive calls because somehow, without my doing anything it goes into call forward mode, even though I have nothing set up for it to forward to. They also do not tell you that your automated home with Alexa devices will not work on 5G. You have to set up a second SSID for 2.4 to run the smart plugs. But, every time the internet goes down, you have a struggle getting all of the devices back on line. TOTAL NIGHTMARE, but gee, yes, when it works it is fast.

Verizon may be slightly faster, however its mobile phone bills are nearly twice as much as T-Mobile which has no contracts. Suffice it to say, I think it's a matter of your location at the time of use and your individual brand preference to determine best customer value.

I have a T-mobile tower right across the street and I am getting 200-350 speeds depending on the time of day. I am running 24 devices with no lag time or buffering. Best of all I am getting this on a special offer from T-mobile for 25 dollars a month locked in. See ya later X-finity!

I really depends on where you live. I have T-Mobile internet and I tried Verizon. T-Mobile internet is much faster where I live. I’m getting up to 650 mps down on T-Mobile and only 50 mps down with Verizon. Verizon internet is new in my area maybe it will get faster later.

5G is definitely not touted what it's supposed to be. I sometimes find myself switching my phone to LTE/LTE+ quite a lot. Because most times LTE is much faster than 5G. This drives me absolutely crazy. On my 5G connection it varies from about 50-200mbps. Sometimes it can go a lot slower than that But if I switch to LTE/LTE+... I can get like 600-700. I searched this problem on the internet. And it seems that thousands and thousands of other people think the same thing or notice the same thing.

I wanted to know this, we have in our household both Verizon and T Mobile cell phones, the T Mobile downloads are 20X faster. Would that translate to T Mobile having faster home internet speeds over Verizon home internet?

Good question -- and I think what you're suggesting makes logical sense but it doesn't line up with my real-world experience. I test phone plans and have plans on the T-Mobile and Verizon networks. When I speed test them, the speeds can be very different compared to the 5G home internet. However, if you're getting such great speeds with T-Mobile, I would lean toward trying out that service for 5G home internet! T-Mobile may just be better overall where you live. (Where I live, Verizon is. The results in this video confirmed that to me.)

These home internet services are NOT the same as your cellphone. I get 0 bars of t mobile on a cellphone but I get 3 bars of 5G on my home internet modem

@@anthonylong5870 Hi, T-Mobile @ Home uses TM's recent 5G network. Is your cellphone 5G compatible or is it only compatible with the older 4G-LTE network? I find there isn't much difference in speed between my 5G cellphone and T-Mobile @ Home. But as I recall the T-Mobile @ Home does have a positive edge. My Guestimate is the T-Mobile @ Home because of it's larger physical size has a better antenna and higher transmitting power. A cellphone because it's held next to the brain is limited to transmitting power of only 0.5 Watt. Flea power. Also location of each devive is VERY important.

Proximity to the tower is important. T-Mobile is amazing (and MUCH faster than your testing) if you are close to a tower. Zero issues with mine. I have had “gigabit” fiber service in the past and frankly T-mobile is “faster” or “as fast” for the things I do online. For me it’s “bye bye wired, hello cellular T-Mobile.” Oh and I pay $30 per month (bundled with our phones) and that includes all taxes and fees and will not be processed increased. Win-win-win-win. Cable/fiber providers suck for 3x the price.

I just went with T Mobile Home Internet trial, (2/17/2023). My DSL speed is 30. My T Home Internet is from 250 to 450. Easy to set up. But - I was ready to bring both my 3 cell phones over as well, for the $ 25 internet rate. Is that still active for T Mobile? I ordered via the phone and the rep dodged my questions about the discount. I was going to try the trial anyway, but leery of the CS. Without that discount, I’ll keep my cellular service with ATT. 😮Assuming equal coverage, does the T Mobile $ 50 plan, fees included, lifetime price lock, appear a better deal than the Verizon $ 25 plan? That has a 2 year price lock, with fees added. If I drop my DSL, which is $ 70 for 30 mbps, I can’t get it back. I don’t want Spectrum.

T-Mobile changed the deal for phones. Now you can get the internet for $30 with at least one Magenta Max plan or $40 with another postpaid plan. If your T-Mobile trial is working for you -- I would keep it! It's a good deal and lots of streaming perks.

Can you get a voip phone with these services? Right now I have Verizon FiOS. I get 300/300 plus voip land line for $59.99/mo. I own the router/modem and use Google nest.

I had T-Mobile for a short time and sent it back because it would not support my voip phone in my location. However, I believe location does matter. I am somewhat rural and the tower was 2 miles away. I believe the rural location of the tower resulted in unacceptable latency variations due to backhaul connections. T-Mobile was actually advertising voip capability in some locations so it must be usable in other locations. Given your current service and pricing, I wouldn't consider changing to either of these services.

Check out the Rootmetrics website. You can see the best network in your area. For most people, I think the answer to your question is still Verizon - but T-Mobile has made strides with its 5G rollout.

I have Tmobile home Internet and mine out of nowhere is switching from 5G to LTE and now it can't power my games I've been playing. got a brand new one and does the same thing...idk what to do, I've talked to tmobile and theyve done a network refresh and it fixed it for a day then the problem came back. I'll prob switch to Verizon because of this

I’ve had both. Still use Verizon because the T-Mobile service doesn’t work %99 of the time and very slow. I would not say I’m happy with Verizon tho it just happens to work %60 of the time and significantly more affordable than the cable company I used before which was charging more and worked maybe %50 of the time. I’d say that for my location if you get a good price just get Verizon’s trash over the others.
