Wow good for you! It's funny how when you're the trap of addiction, the idea of life without those things seems SO much worse. You're like "aww but I don't want to give up having fun!". But then when you do and you start to appreciate true contentment and peace, and energy, and clear thinking and ALL the benefits that come from being out of the trap, you feel bad for that person who's stuck inside telling themselves that.

Yeah it's interesting to hear how it effects everyone so differently. My wife gets headaches... I sometimes get the jitters... some people are really addicted to it and others not so much. Similar to alcohol in a way I suppose. I'm happy off it though have it once in awhile when we have guests over.

Not really. Unless your job is to remain calm, then no. Also, it’s not a stressor or a stimulant. It’s actually an adenosine receptor antagonist. Acts as an inhibitor is some cases and although has negative effects in relatively healthy people, caffeine may have positive effects as brain function modification or correction.

Coffee kinda ruined my life. Daily constant stress! And avoiding vacations and family events and many fun things. Drinking a cup and doing nothing all day due to the confusion afterward. I had a two week vacation where I couldn’t leave my house for vacation and just drank a cup at coffee shops and did nothing hit walk around outside and then crash at home. Makes it easier to do one or two things but then overall I am mentally tired all day because coffee makes my sleep bad so I don’t get enough rest.

Really appreciate your comment, thanks for taking the time to write it! My wife and I are still both off it and feel great. I've found some awesome decaf beans as we still enjoy coffee. We still struggle more with alcohol but since quitting for that 30 days video (and with what we learned from the book) we consume WAY less and overall I would say are happier. I'm so glad I have learned the ability to shift my mind off of alcohol because before when I thought of a drink, that thought was a ball and I was a dog. I couldn't get my mind off it! Sounds like you are really working on yourself. Have you read any good books or anything to help you in the last couple years?

@@TheSAHDLife Thank you for responding back! I have nice Fair Trade Organic bag of decaf espresso I purchased online from Higher Grounds in Traverse City, Michigan. It's pretty good, but I'm still mixing it with my Dunkin espresso shots.. doh! What are the decaf beans you and your wife have been drinking? I'd love to try out different kinds to find the right fit. I'm happy to hear that you both consume way less. That's a wonderful first step in the process of recovery. BIG KUDOS!!! I think I didn't struggle with alcohol as much because I was typically only having 1-2 glasses of wine each night. I started noticing during the height of the pandemic I was drinking my wine faster than normal and reaching for a bit more each time. I thought to myself "this could become a slippery slope really quick", so I decided to cut it off. I had been trying before the pandemic, but not trying very hard. I love Eckhart Tolle "The Power of Now". I also listened to many podcasts about quitting alcohol. There seems to be a LOT more sober podcasts now than when I was originally searching for them a couple years ago, so I think that's a good sign that more people are trying to quit or at least curious about it. Best of luck on your journey to sober!!

@@nessiequin I used to smoke way back in the day and I was the same. I'd only smoke like 1-2 a today, maybe more if I was drinking, so I never really thought of myself as a smoker. My wife who smoked more than me always tried to quit, but when we eventually decided to quit together, I think it was harder for ME than her! Ew. I can't believe we did that for so long. For coffee we have a brand here called "Kicking Horse", it often goes on sale at the grocery stores and tastes pretty good. We also found a Hazelnut decaf bean at our local big grocery store and we will often mix the two and it's nice. I am also a big fan of Eckhart Tolle. That book actually helped start me on the path I am currently on! I also made a video on another favorite book of mine recently 'The Untethered Soul' by Michael Singer. He has become my main dude for when I need to get back on the peace train lol. Sounds like we're going down similar paths.👊 Appreciate your sharing!

Mold contamination in coffee can also be a problem. I had zero problems with coffee 10 years ago and could quit and see not much improvement and felt great. But now when I drink coffee I feel wired like a zombie and just overall in a bad place mentally. Either coffee quality went to shit or my body can no longer handle mold which is most likely the second. Point is if you feel like a million bucks after quitting for like a week clearly coffee is no longer for you. it saddens me because this used to be my favorite beverage
@writerforlifeify
@writerforlifeify 3 ай бұрын
@@jeanbob1481 Are you referring to mold contamination in ground coffee that one needs a coffee maker for? Or mold in instant coffee? I switched to instant years ago. No issues yet. I'm not sure if this video is even intended for people like me; I drink only 1 cup of coffee per day (with breakfast). I tried to drink more, just a half cup extra but my body repels it after about 2 sips so I pour it out. I'm fine for the balance of the day, mood/energy-wise. I never 'crash' or feel the need for another hit of caffeine. Only that 1st & only cup invigorates & pleases me. Any more feels redundant, excessive, no matter the hour. So I highly doubt I'm addicted to caffeine; I don't crave it until the next morning's (one) cup. 3 decades, same pattern. And I only take it black.

FYI - I quit cold turkey which resulted in just over a week of headaches... if you decide to trying life without caffeine I'd suggest weening off slowly by adding more and more decaf into your blend until you eventually switch over completely. Also, I didn't go deep into coffee alternatives as I know some people just want the warmth. For that there's always decaf, teas, broths, etc... or you could just have fresh juices, smoothies, or water instead. Thanks for watching.

I have been a big coffe-drinker for 32 years, drinking 1,4 litres every workday, and a little bit less on weekends and holidays. 10 days ago I quit coffee, to see how I would feel, and also because I learned that just like nicotine and alcohol, caffeine reduces the blood flow to the brain by around 40 %. So, 10 days later! I haven't had any headaches, I don't feel tired, no brain fog, and there are no real cravings to speak of. I'm very surprised by this! I am sensitive to coffee, but most of all, I don't like the feeling of it's controlling me. I know we have to do it for ourselves and find out for ourselves eventually. Good to know that others experience the same feelings around needing coffee. It must be a drug. Thanks for the upbeat video too SAHD life for this video.

I quit caffeine about 2 months ago and have been shocked to learn how much it was impacting my generalized anxiety disorder. I estimate that my anxiety is at least 50 percent reduced since quitting caffeine. At least. And I was only drinking 1-2 cups each morning. I have a very long road ahead of me though. Next on my list is Kratom. I’ve been taking it daily for about 11 years. I’ve slowly weaned down to 14 grams per day from 40 over the course of several weeks. After I wean off kratom, I’m going to tackle my Lyrica addiction. THEN, it’s on to vaping. My poor brain. I have a long road ahead of me but I’m determined.

Wow it sounds like you are on quite the quest! How inspiring. It sure feels good to conquer your demons and thrive naturally, how we were supposed to. I wonder if we just disturbed the dopamine receptors so much that they are just f'd on their own? We drank and ate a lot over the summer and my brain was not happy. I had bad anxiety and I'm only a week clean but I feel the sun shining through the clouds with my soul so to speak. There's light inside and it feels good. It's just crazy we keep the clouds there ALL the time. I wish you luck on your journey. Not sure if you are interested but I reviewed a book called The Untethered Soul on my channel and, well it was a game-changer for me. Check it out if you're curious 👊

I’ve been caffeine free for 6 months now. I had to cold turkey it because even small amounts started giving me heart palpitations. This was after 10 years of drinking coffee/tea/energy drinks every single day, so it was a rough transition. The first few weeks sucked but it’s worth it. Caffeine free sodas and herbal teas really help on days when i really want coffee since they satisfy the fun drink desire.

Where I'm at in life I like to manage my emotions and thoughts. It's different than if I just fuel myself with caffeine and go go go. I think some people get so carried away with their thoughts and since they fuel it with caffeine, like that person you mentioned... all of the sudden they are living life totally different than they would if they were more in control. The only hurts I have left now- are the ACTUAL injuries.. not the arthritic mess it caused. My blood presure stays normal, and I feel BETTER (still not good- don't know if I'll ever get over the accident completely). Still haven't lost any weight- but have gained MUSCLE even though I can't work out yet with anything other than isometrics..
