It's weird because America promotes itself as a country of entrepreneurship, of the self-made man, but the reality is self-employed people are punished by a lack of basic support in the form of healthcare, dental etc. By the way you're a very good actor Chelsea, your ad reminded me of Phoebe and Ursula in Friends. Your commentary about not having health insurance while you were perched on the window sill was perfect timing for dramatic tension. You are correct about the quiet but fearful mechanisms that keep people in corporate life (spot on). Also I think you need to oil your door hinges.
@stephb332110 ай бұрын
Yes, she 💯 hit the nail on the head about keeping people in corporate life. I’m nearing the end of my work career, hopefully will retire in two more years at the age of 59. I am from the generation that corporate life IS life. The stability, the health insurance, the endless hours so you can afford a car, home, and lots of vacations. I have succeeded at all of this, but the rub of it is the grind of it all, little fulfillment, and like Chelsea said, working to make other’s lives easier. It comes with a price. If there had been KZbin back in the early 90’s, maybe I would’ve gone that route.😊

hi, my name is ki and im 21. i started my channel just a few days ago. i finally decided to go for it after 2+ years of just thinking about it. i post asmr videos, and even though the quality is not amazing right now, i really hope to be able to improve at it, as it is truly my passion. i honestly haven't expected anything to go anywhere on my channel, but the surprising amounts of comments and support is so comforting and sweet. videos like these encourage me to keep trying despite the feeling of not being good enough, so thank you!

Thank you for this video and giving me reassurance that KZbin is the right choice for change. I , myself, work as an advanced practice nurse in anesthesiology. Although my education and career has brought me some sense of pride and accomplishment..I feel like there is something more. This whole thing of working for a living and dedicating 40 years is not all that is supposed to be. I started KZbin to educate those who are in high level professions but feel stuck about their time, location, and financial freedom. Im in Massachusetts, so those that pursuing content creation on the side or full time… maybe we can all meet up one ☝️ day 😊
@thelaundress1110 ай бұрын
Also - this behind the scenes real look is the best- it’s exactly what I want to tune into. People wanna know what it takes to be a content creator. A lot of people want to be KZbinrs without realizing how much work it is and young kids feel entitled by that thinking it’s easy to be glamorous and live in a huge house without doing the work. I think blogs like this is what is going to elevate your channel. I feel like you’re really finding your stride as a content creator who isn’t just trying to be an influencer and sell people excessive consumerism junk from Amazon that we don’t need. Keep up the good work girl.

I really hope you can find a part time job in an engagement position, one that showcases and develops all your natural community connection skills. You go girl you’re really smashing it ❤❤❤

I want to thank you for being so open and honest about your experience. I know how vulnerable that can feel but its also so relatable. I worked for starbucks for just under 10 years while going to school and they consider 20 hours a week full time which gives you all the benefits including vacation hours, medical, and 401k match. They also give a wonderful sense of community. That could be a fun part time job for you because you meet so many interesting people. With that being said, I think its fun to watch your progress on this platform and if you’re comfortable with it, a fun video idea could be how much KZbin paid you the 1st year of monetizing your channel or something along those lines. I always find those videos eye opening. Anyway, thanks you for your content and being so damn relatable ❤

Chelsea!! It took me 4 days to get to this video but your vlogs are the ones I look forward to the MOST. They are always ALWAYS!! so beautifully structured. I am glued to them from start to finish and nothing seems to be able to distract me away from them. ❤ I’m really grateful that you became a Content Creator so that all of us random people could be exposed to you rather than just the ppl confined to your orbit because you are so incredibly special. 1. TY for sharing this video. 2. I’m a tiny toddler YTer, posted my 1st vlog Oct ‘23, without real intentions on being a legit “vlogger” or “CC” but my husband encouraged it as a way for me to have an additional outlet and I’m happy he did because 3. A vlogger came across my ch and, for SOME reason, suggested I take a look at your ch. 4. So I did mostly because I wanted to honor her suggestion and not because I wanted to see another “Life-Alone, NYC” Vlog 😅 I really wasn’t interested in that any more honestly BUT THEN… you! I needed exactly YOU in my life. And I’ve been inspired to keep up my Vlogging journey as a way to explore myself further, to push my self into new territories, because of how inspiring you are. I’m 36yo and stopped being a fan-girl a long time ago, not even for celebs, but I’m totally fan-girling b.c your humanity shines through so brightly. I mean to say, your dimension and layers are always flawfully glowing. ❤ Anyway, Sanks, NoWa

I had all the same feelings (and still have them to this day) - a mix of awe, pride, and excitement, and sheet terror that it can all go away at any point. I really feel you on the pain from lack of structure and not being expected somewhere by a certain time each day. Hi sweet Chelsea, I have just feeling you are my close friend and I should say - I am sooo proud of you how brave and talented you are!!! 💪🤎🤎🤎Every episode you create is in higher and higher level and sooo inspiring! Your cutting skills, how you manage the apartment - I love the tones in brown shades (like my favourite coffee ☕☕which I am drinking more and more hehe, cause I am also night owl 😅person). I also burned myself in my last work - I just had feeling I learned everything and also the political circumstances... I took almost a year break for healing myself from "the old system", used my time and saved money 😅for travelling (to Japan with my friend, solo travelling to Croatia - Bosna and Hercegovina - Oman - Dubai... 😄), educating myself etc... I have my favourite channels on youtube who I support, I love your videos, you are my mentor 🥰, that this decision is the best! And as you said - if we fear much - everytime we can go back to "normal 9-5 job", but we probably won't seems less and less possible, I/we just can't waste my/our time anymore...😅. In this video I clearly found out how you have an actor skills - also as you said you were studying it? Lets see lets see where your path will continue, but it will be greeaaat for sure, it already is!!! 🥰I also loved your make up at the end, just glamourous! 🤩 Last thing I wanted to say - yes, say please more about the "old system" which does not let us easily go from it, as you have mentioned... I feel the same, maybe it will be encouranging and will be "eyes opening" for many from us, your point of view... 😎 Sending the warmest hi from the Czech Republic, Prague!😍Take care and be as authentic and great as you are!!! Biggest thanks for you! 💪🤎🤎🤎

Hi! 😊 super small KZbinr here- really goin for it. I started my channel years ago and even though it hasn’t been smooth sailing, I always knew it would be a forever thing. KZbin is my baby. It’s taken me years to really step into myself and believe enough in myself to not only create but continue to create in between seasons of so much discouragement, but I choose to keep creating because I know that this time and space of long form content is precious - anyway, I’m a singer by trade and didn’t think I could continue to have singing content and also lifestyle content or say the words digital creator out loud because… you know, imposter syndrome. 🤓 thanks for letting us introduce ourselves and channels within your community Chelsea, I think it’s a beautiful thing. One of the things I truly love about you is that you are not a gate keeper, I have always said that if I was able to build a strong community I would never gate keep and I gravitate toward authentic and honest and incredibly relatable people like yourself. One thing I always say is that not everyone is lucky or privileged enough to have their passion also be their profession, and there’s a lot that comes with that…but if it’s in you, it’s in you, it’s who you are, and why should we feel any kind of hesitation or shame because of it. Thank you for this video. Not only is this the best overall ‘behind the curtain’ video but it’s also so validating to those of us who quietly share the same grind, have the same late nights, spin all of the plates over our head with see arch, logistics, writing, shooting, editing, thumbnailing, and then lather rinse repeat - digging down and digging in to keep going when it gets tough, hanging on to hop to find a true gem of a community. ❤️❤️❤️ ps- I found you and Alexis totally separately but around the same time (thank you, youtube algorithm) and I love to be able to see your faces in the same video☺️

Hi Chelsea. I just found your channel through this video. Last year I quit my job as a teacher (after 12 years) and moved from Texas to Oregon (I've also lived in Queens!). For the past 7 years I've had a KZbin channel about luxury bags and showing people how they can be more accessible (not just for the wealthy). I've taken this time to try things on my channel and to explore other ideas that I never had time for with my 9-5 and it's been great and liberating but also terrifying like you said. I identify with the mental struggles you mentioned at the end of this video. There are so many things to do that no matter what I'm working on, even if it's important and productive, I feel like I should be working on something else. I'm still trying to figure it out and I'm learning to trust myself and that it will all work out in the end. Thanks for making this video!

I just have to say real quick that I’m 31. When I was turning 30 I was having a melt down. So lost. Thought I would never live to see the day tbh. This year being 31 feels somewhat the same & honestly like it’s not even real. Like I’m just in limbo & have no real direction yet as far as my own passions. Watching your videos & relating to your frame of mind & where you are in life is really helpful in knowing I’m not alone in just figuring things out for/with myself. That it’s not too late - something I’ve always struggled with as I’ve been working my whole life & always feeling like I’m behind. I work from home & feel isolated constantly & your perspective on that as you’re transitioning into being a full time creator is so relatable to me personally because of some of those same struggles & boundaries that I fail to set for myself with work & being at home, always on my own with just my self-sabotaging thoughts. Just want to say thank you for your channel & your videos & your perspective on life. It’s inspiring & comforting at the same time. I appreciate you & hope you keep building & achieving all the things you want in life. You’re giving me hope again for my own life. 💜

Hey Chelsea, this idea of needing community and actively investing effort into finding your people is so real! I've done some research on 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and we all get so hung-up on 3rd places when we don't even have a 2nd! 3rd places are social infrastructure and they just reduce barriers for social interaction. For now I'm on the ~clock app~ as @froulmate and I talk a lot about my grief journey since losing my best friend last year, but also things that I enjoy like running and all that jazz. A regular girly pop who also happens to carry a suitcase full of grief and a ghost wherever she goes, lol.

I like the behind the scenes content. I think it’s important to show nothing is as easy as the final product makes it look.

I stumbled upon this video and I am so happy I did. I have quit my day job and my last day is coming up soon. I have been on KZbin for 10 years but just started being more productive the past few years. I want to become a full-time content creator and open my own art business also. I need to see examples like you to help give me a balanced perspective but also encourage my creative pursuits. Thank you for sharing your experience as a full time creative.

I really liked this video. I enjoy this behind-the-scenes video as well as your others. This lets us get to know you better and feel more a part of your community. I especially like how you talk "to us" as if we are there. Your comment about us "being down there" due to the missing tripod is what made me want to write this comment. Thanks for being so engaging with us. Keep up the great work!

I love what you said about the similarities you found between starting your corporate job and starting this creative career! I also changed my career path a couple years ago, and now I'm making some content on the side (on the clock app) and sometimes I struggle with feeling like I have no idea where to even start when it comes to content creation. But this reminded me that when I changed careers I had no idea what I even wanted to do, and now I love my part-time work! Hopefully I can lean into the uncertainty with content creation and just keep having fun with it :).

I'm an aspiring author still in college and not sure where that dream is going to take me, but watching your videos always reminds me to not give up even if I may need to do something else in the meantime. I have a lot of faith that I can make that dream come true but managing your expectations is really hard sometimes. Your humility and honesty is so encouraging and gives me a lot of hope. Thank you so much, Chelsea!

Love this and the behind the scenes is what we all want to see. I’m still trying to figure out how I want my channel to go. Right now I don’t want my face on the internet because of past stalking experience, but I’ve got a lot of life experiences to share that could help someone.

This video was so amazing. I really relate to this 9-5 job talk. Your sponsored segments are so funny. They remind of another one of my favorite KZbin channels, Kingin' It. I'm excited for half marathon training content (if you decide you'd like to share with us).

Oh my word you are one hard working creative lady. who knew there was so much involved in making 23 minutes and 37 seconds of content. I loved this video and am so impressed. Now... announcing you are uninsured while balancing precariously on the back of a couch made my heart jump. Although by this time you've missed the 60-day COBRA deadline and the deadline to enroll via the marketplace, you can still purchase private insurance. You may need to stop eating to afford it though. But seriously, perhaps there are plans available through a professional group or a union you could join. Maybe check with your agency and see if they can point you in that direction or can tell you how others they represent handle this. It may be beneficial to start an LLC for yourself and purchase it through that business instead of as an individual. Hopefully, you will find a solution. Until then don't stand on the couch! 🥰

Love this! I work in tech and have been WFH which is a blessing for my family, but I also started my small business to help find a community and do some art. I am also now venturing into KZbin but so many things you touched on here is so right. I won't be giving up my job for KZbin anytime soon as I love what I do and it does bring that extra level of benefits. This doesn't mean KZbin can be amazing and I am so excited for you.

I haven’t tuned into one of your videos since your vlogmas and around when you quit your job, your energy seems so much higher and from an outside perspective it seems like it was the right move even with the down times. I recently just moved to NYC for school and I’m 18, the first few weeks I was here really did suck because I felt like I was unsure wether it was the right choice but exactly what you said, if it’s not it’s something to learn from and now I’m nearly 2 months in and I can truly say I absolutely love living here in NYC!

Tax, savings, insurance, etc..... I can so relate to this as a freelancer. Thank you for being real. I quit my office job 4 years ago, to start something from scratch. I had nothing, no source of income. I decided to take a night-time part time job, so I could keep working on my projects during the day and earn some stable income from this part-time. It was so hard. After 3 years of working part-time at night, I was finally able to make enough from my freelance career to quit my part time job. It's so important to normalize the non-glamorous side of starting your own business. It's part of the process.

I rarely comment on youtube videos, but Chelsea let me tell you!! You've been evolving so much in storytelling!!!!!! I've always found you very entertaining, not gonna lie (I started watching when you were doing your vlogs in your old apartment), but now you are in another level with your editing, and way of telling a story! Congrats! I can't wait to see what you do next :)

Hi Chelsea! I left my corporate job with a media company for 10 years. It has been months and I haven't really matched mys usual income from before. But freelance writing (mostly FREE sadly) but ithas shown me a version of myself that I have never seen before. Can totally relate on what you said on missing your regular job but I am thankful that you are fearlessly showing these on the internet. Been a huge fan of yours. Thank you for opening your heart so we can understand ours! Keep on creating!

I've wanted to start a channel for SO long, but fear always got the best of me. I'm editing my first video right now at the speed of a tranquilised turtle, but I'm getting there. Thank you for your insight! And that BOMB sponsor segment which, should I ever get sponsors, I'll -steal- emulate.

I love your vlogs, I’ve said it before, but they are so honest and real. It’s easy to watch! And I also watch Alexis- so cool to see you guys hanging out. I love that you are feeling more fulfilled in what you are doing- and yeah it’s scary to leave a 9-5, but you are doing it, and doing so well! We all are here for it! ❤

Hi! I've been watching yours vids from 6'ish months and I'm soooo grateful that I can get to know your point of view on professional life, but also on personal bumps and challenges. I've wanted to write a comment about your videos for a long time, but it always seemed shallow to me. I've been struggling with my own everyday problems for some time, so now I know what is most needed in such situations: a simple thank you and good job GURL! When you asked if we want more videos like this, I will answer: yes, indeed! Greetings from Europe!

I felt so seen when you talked about feeling guilty for being a coach potato instead of working. I work as a full-time teacher, part time content creator and I feel like if I sit and watch tv i’m failing myself. My channel is 200 hours away from being monetized so i’m in overdrive to get those videos out. My channel is about a plus sized girly living a balanced life style while losing weight. No fad diets and no weight loss drugs. I keep it super real for people to feel not so alone. I’ve followed you for a few year and my wife and I love your vlogs ❤
