Laura, I can relate-- I too am 59 and divorced after 30 years of marriage. I did have some time alone in my early 20s and I learned I do like doing some things alone, like going to movies or events if I couldn't find someone who wanted to go (I like going with people, but going alone is nice too). Divorce after a long marriage is a huge change, but there's a lot of growth in it. Good luck!

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I relate to what you're saying about putting up a defence mechanism after being hurt so many times. I just went through another heartache recently and have been feeling so jaded and heartbroken in recent weeks. Dating in your 20's is one thing, but dating in your 30's is a whole different thing - especially in this day and age. It's especially hard for us women when we have so many people saying "you're so great - how are you single?!!" If I hear that one more time I might go crazy. I just wanted to thank you for being so open. It's been really great seeing another woman my age being so honest. And, you make me realize that being single isn't so bad. We've got this. xo

Ok so I’m 41. I was single and lived alone for 8 years. I’ve been dating my boyfriend for just under a year and we just moved in together. The reason why it’s going so well is that we have seperate rooms. He can watch tv in his, while I’m watching tiktoks and crocheting in mine. People who don’t do this are bonkers. Alone time is important. Me and my husband both have "our stuff"-he has his motorbike, I have my running and music. We spend a lot of time together and share some passions, but we also appreciate time for ourselves. It's the balance that matters, because you don't want to end up being "roommates" and living next to each other, as opposed to together. But if there is communication and understanding, it works I think :)

Can absolutely attest to how important it is to have solo time in a relationship. @@sweeeeeet85 I think it is! It’s about respecting that the other one needs time to be a human outside of partner and parent. Sounds like you and your partner already have great communication on that and I have no doubt it will continue when it comes to building a bigger family. 😊

Same here! Been with my partner since I've been 17, now 30. I never want to feel like I HAVE to stay with him because I couldn't do life alone, I'd rather actually choose to be in this relationship because I want to, not out of fear. I even enjoy taking trips alone, my partner doesn't like city trips/going to museums etc so I love that I'm independent enough to just go away for a long weekend and do what I enjoy! I'm in Europe and I've been in Prague, Brussels and Copenhagen alone. It's a bit uncomfortable at first but you really get used to it quickly.

@@SammyK45 Life can definitely be done alone but it’s way more fun as a team. Being supported by someone you love on the daily is what I consider to be a great gift in my life. I'm hyper-hyper independent but got into a relationship last year. He is a stellar human being and treats me well but sometimes it's difficult for me to be paired up, due to me being so used to my alone time and enjoying it. As a 50+ year old Latina born and bred New Yorker, I ended up taking a break from New York City in my late 20s and decided to start fresh in Chicago and that is where I met my husband. We ended up moving to NYC a couple of years later. So, love happens when you least expect it. When it does…you know it and you are not afraid of it. I may have said this before, but it is a privilege to live alone as a woman. History has not reflected a very positive experience for women living by themselves in the past. You’re really making g the most of things Chelsea and I love how you’re blossoming in front of our eyes. Dating in most places from your 30s onwards is a bit tricky, you’re doing so well. Fun fact, I’ve just found out that Trader Joe’s is owned by ALDI. Apparently two brothers inherited ALDI from their dad, and they spilt into Aldi south and north. The difference being that originally one of the brothers didn’t want to sell cigarettes. Hence, the differing company names…who knew. The gym has helped me gain and regain my confidence. Small alone time like doing my nails and treating myself to a nice trail/hiking experience is what I do to reconnect with myself! Everyone has their preferences, I just refuse to let go of my individuality. That is called codependency and it actually harms your relationship rather than helping it. Right on with the extra butter on the popcorn at the movies - your facial expression said it all! Next time you're there, try having "Sno-Caps" with your popcorn...awesome and underrated combination! Speaking of butter, while I am a regularly recurring patron of Trader Joe's, and highly laud most of their offerings (Himalayan Pink salt among them!), the absolute best store-bought butter that I've found is actually available in the mainstream supermarket chains (Acme, et.al.); it's called "Plugra", and they have salted (silver wrapper) or un-salted (gold) varieties. I prefer the former, and although Kerrygold is fine stuff, I find Plugra to be creamier and more flavorful. Enjoy!

Well, this one hit the right spot. As we're allover sharing on this channel, here's my take on it. I don't want to have a family, and not because I'm stupid like that, but because in my 30s I realized this is a lot of responsibility, and your responsible behavior towards people is almost always abused. I want to be an honest caring person, and other people immediately think this is a way to manipulate your sense of responsibility into exploiting you and then throw you away. So no, I'm not going through this again. I'm not handsome, I'm certainly not a womanizer or anything of the sorts. I just want to live my quiet life in peace without hurting anyone, yet without letting anyone hurt me. Welp, yup, that was that. You're always a pleasure to watch, Chelsea, thanks.

So many conversation points and thoughts brought to mind as I watched. I could write a book, I swear, in these comments if I let myself! Lol. Aw well, for now I simply want to thank you for putting out amazing content. It always hits just right! Love, love, love 👏👏👏

When it comes to relationships… imagine you’re a leaf blowing in the wind… Just enjoy being blown into the sky and the amazing adventure it is because when you least expect it you’ll float into something out of nowhere and it’ll stop you in your tracks. You’ll know it when it happens. So just keep living your incredible life, but every once in awhile look up to see what you’re floating by.

Going by myself to the movies is one of my favorite things to do. I’m fairly independent, I often travel alone and make connections on the way, so that’s my way to keep myself open for whatever happens and whoever may come.

You are honestly so relatable! I hope your lower back/sciatic pain goes away soon. I went into an adult ball pit last year and have had sciatic pain ever since, it's much better, but 33 year old me probably can't take another ball pit.

Girl, I was single till I was 37. It was a WILD ride of online dating in Orange County, CA. Land of excess and suburban life. lol. But you are spot on- even after marriage and a miracle baby, time away with close friends is a must for each person in a relationship or marriage. It’s healthy to do things on your own or with friends. ❤ It was hard at times, but I did enjoy being single and getting to really experience life in my 20’s and 30’s. Granted, yes, I was lonely and wanted a partner, but it came at the right time when it was supposed to!

The curse with Emma Stone is fantastic. I have a relationship for over four years but we both keep our own place. Such a luxury.

Ummmm… YES! being in a relationship but still having your own thing going on, whether it be self care or a hobby, is EXTREMELY important! Only been married for 2 years but there is nothing like having your own thing. Sometimes it’s also nice being together (like same room) but still enjoy doing your little activity☺️

Thank you for this kind reminder that I just need to go out and enjoy a drink with a friend and be careless for once, instead of always thinking about work (I'm freelancer, that's why) 😆😁

Love this. I’m 42 and have been single for 2 years after a 10 year relationship. The big difference for me now compared to my 20’s is I am loving being single and knowing I can look after myself. I do question if I’m maybe now a little hyper independent too, and I’ve had to accept that I probably won’t have kids but I’m okay with that. I think it’s really healthy and emotionally intelligent to know that you can be in a relationship not because you need someone to validate you but because you genuinely love that person for who they are and also won’t settle for being treated any less than you are worth.

Love the sentiment. Being single can and should be just as fulfilling as while in a relationship.

You go girl 👏 I'll share the advice my mom gave me ... if you're looking for perfection " a ten" then you better be a ten yourself because you can't expect more than what you're willing to give .. it's just not fair 🤷🏻♀️

Sometimes i just can't put into words how much i enjoy your VIDEOS!!! makes me so excited to be a person (does this even make sense), i just love seeing the day to day things. I want to respond to so many things you've said but i'll keep it with the part of doing your own thing while being in a relationship. My partner and i are very much our own person, i think that's so important because it gives you things to talk about with eachother and things to lean from eachother. We also don't live together (not by choice, it's just the terrible housing market here in the Netherlands) but that gives us soooo much to talk about when we see eachother about once or twice a week. We also go on seperate holidays (apart from the ones we go on together) and it really allows us to stay our own person while being together. It's the healthiest relationship i've ever been in and i feel truly blessed. I wish only good and loving things coming your way Chelsea! If that's on your own, with a partner or with a pet. It's in the stars for you for sure!!!✨💕

I'm 38 and I, too, have injured my lower back from sitting on my couch too much in the "wrong" position LOL. I had to resort to laying on the floor a lot to get it back to normal, ugh. Cute video!

Yeah I feel this 🥲 I spent all day, every day practically at my desk and even though I have a special back support chair, I never use it properly. With my ADHD I'm always sitting awkwardly and now it's got the point I might need a chiropractor.. but I'm dreading what even one session would cost 🙃

Hi Chelsea…. I feel for you and your thoughts about dating in your 30s it must be so much harder than in my day….. less commitment these days and more weirdo’s about…. I have been married 3 times! Yes 3 and though there were good times…. Now I am living alone this is the happiest I have been. Do what feels right for you. Xx❤

I met my now husband when we were both 36. We grew up 30 minutes apart and he was living less than a mile from my parents in my hometown. We had a handful of common people in our lives… but we hadn’t ever met! Moral of the story: when it’s mean to be it will happen. You never know who you will meet. Be open to meet someone if that’s what you want. If you’re not ready, don’t push yourself. Maybe I put too much faith in the universe sending me what/ who I need, but she always makes sense in the end. Chin up, beautiful! Great vlog, love a solo day date and TJ’s is so wonderful 🥰🥰🥰 keep up the good work 💗💗💗

I am 34 and married. We both are introverts and give each other needed alone time. Plus he works outside of the home and I work from home which is also nice. But yes alone time is important and it’s so healthy to be able to hangout with yourself. ❤

Hi Chels, just found you on KZbin, you're gorgeous one!) Married for 10 years in my 36, but tell me before marriage I would be such a person - I laugh! It's a pleasure to live alone and it's very hard to find right person you won't be willing to kill after 1-2. Never stress about relationship, it will wind you if there is someone for you.❤

Oh Chelsea! You are a bright light in my day when you post! It’s so obvious what a good person you are. A rare thing anymore. In regard to dating. Try not to overplan. Maybe you’re not. I don’t know. Just saying that was my problem once upon a time. When you wake up each day look in the mirror and say “ I love you! I am loved, loving, and lovable”. Sounds hokey but it works. After a few times you’ll believe it. Love you so much.

Three things: 1) I’m a cottage cheese-aholic. As a kid, I used to heat a slice of bologna in the microwave (which would curl it into a bowl shape) and fill it with cottage cheese for a snack. Chef’s kiss!! 2) my biggest dating decade was my 30’s in NYC. Between you and me, I was having a goooooooood time! 😉3) I love romance and read romance books and go gaga for romantic things but ultimately I decided I’m much happier being single. But I’m in my 50s now, so you youngsters go live it up for me! 🤣 Bye, Chelsea. Have fun! Clink, clink! ☕️❤☕️

I love corn cakes topped with cottage cheese mixed with cracked pepper, himalayan salt, dried chives, & chilli flakes, and a tiny bit of garlic oil drizzled in. Mix it all up & then add some halved plum tomatoes - it's so good! Also love solo dates - took myself out for brunch last weekend, and have a solo 4 day trip to London planned for end of month, can't wait to not have to talk to anyone and just do what I want 😂
