i keep YT because i can learn how to do shit, or engage in hobby stuff. also, it's where i get news stuff. but yeah, even taking a fast from that is good. the first time i did it for weeks, i only let myself do YT if it was fitness related. i had just discovered buffdudes and so they were along for that detox, and jump into serious training. it was a large life shift for multiple reasons, but the first time i ever considered weightlifting as part of my fitness, and also a radical diet shift so that i could get the protein i needed. vegan is doable but it depends on the person. i had too many food intolerances to make it work without being on processed stuff for many meals, and it just didn't seem wholistic. anyway, buffdudes kept me so entertained, it felt a little like cheating haha!! and i always think of hudson grilling chicken for mealprep, when i look to do it myself.

you are not superior to people who still have instagram and tiktok. KZbin is just as toxic as twitter or instagram. The day your only form of entertainment in front of a screen, is videogames and watching fiction, that will be the day you will truly feel better.

Great video bro. I deleted social media last year and I have a lot more time for everything. The determining factor for me is realizing social media is designed to be addicting. People are hooked bad on doomscrolling and dopamine from likes. I used to be. I bought the buff dudes cookbook a while back and it’s cool to see where they put it all together. Very wholesome

Fantastic video, just what I needed right now. I feel like at 34 I've already wasted a lifetime's worth of time, just endlessly scrolling around online, sucking in negativity and self-doubt, instead of appreciating my daily life and just learn new things. You also inspire me to return to drawing, something I haven't done in forever. Thanks for the extra reminder of just how short life is, and how unnatural it is for us to only live it through our phones.

I quit social media for 2 months, I took my first trip to Las Vegas, experienced my first music festival (Sick New World), trained at the Dragon's Lair, went to the casino for the first time (in Vegas) and I never felt the need to either post about it or download the socials. All the pictures are on my phone, all the memories are in my heart and about 3 months after the trip, I haven't felt the need to post the pics or clips or anything because it's my experience. It's not for likes or heart reacts. Currently I am back on socials but because I play in a band that plays around town and I have to promo, and to be honest, I really didn't miss social media at all for the time I was out. Actually makes me look at my phone less. Loved the video Brandon, BUFF Dudes was the first fitness youtube page I came across that got an instant Subscribe years ago and one of my Favorites to this day.

This was incredibly motivational, Great work! Social media is truly a double edged sword in that you can meet tons of people you wouldve never had the chance to before and connect on topics yall love, but also sadly many negative things. Terminally online is joked about but it really can take a toll if ya aint careful. This video inspired me to try to cut back as well cause that whole bit about going into a scrolling trance and the day being wasted is too damn accurate.

i don't really do social media at all. the only one i did was instagram for a bit because my cousin is on it, and we use it partly for posting art. but even that i don't really do much on. i used to look at things more, but now it's like... just a way to keep track of some things like repairs on the house that i did, landscaping, koi pond, growing food and stuff. and art. and cats. :) when i scroll through i see what was going on in life. (oh and food i made that came out cool). i guess you could say a highlight of hobbies, hard work, pets, and creativity. part is the photography. anyway it's too easy to have your life sucked away online and look back hours, days, a week later and be like "wtf did i even do? the time is just gone and i couldn't even say."

Kudos for that part at the end acknowledging taking to social media to discuss giving up social media...on social media. Most folks lack the self awareness to catch that. The endless loop of people taking to social media, to complain about social media telling people to give up social media...all whilst on social media, is lunacy. Well done!!

First of all, nice illustrations, and congrats on not only kicking social media for a month but for not using AI to do your work for you. Side note, I love that Dynamic Anatomy book! Second of all, you said something that hit really hard, “…it’s the time you put into doing it, not watching it, that will make you better.” That’s so, so true - and not just for drawing. That’s across the board. I feel like a lot of people, me included, are guilty of being “experts” on various subjects that they’ve never actually done. I feel super motivated! Thanks!

LOUD SLOW CLAP. awesome vid. really. (and that was a fukkton of artwork. a lot of people wouldn't be able to do more than one a week. i mean, drawing, painting, all the layers. even with a monster wacom tablet though being able to see what you are drawing versus the brain disconnect of the ones with no screen, which i could never get used to... i do love that you commissioned a lot of different artists on your stuff throughout the years, but it's also really cool to have done one yourself. hard to believe you left off on art a while because your proportions and shit are spot on. i know lots of people who will bring in references to trace over which feels like cheating, but at the same time, the most important thing is meeting a deadline and sometimes you have to take shortcuts. anatomy can be tough. especially perspective. you get huge props for what you turned out, man. from a fellow artist. i have some of the same books lol. scott mccloud had some excellent ones, too. if you find that you keep going in your free time or fancy a few multipanel works/pages/strips. was also great seeing you and M getting to do a bunch of fun stuff like the concert, and just living life. always a good day when a buffdudes vid drops!! 😁)
