October 8; that means they must have started making it almost immediately after the Metroid 2 remake. It would seem Metroid 2 Remake was to see whether it sold well enough to make a Metroid 5; and training for the team; since they didn't have to invent Metroid 2 from scratch, they could learn a Metroid game with training wheels on. In hindsight, it shouldn't be all that surprising they were going to make a Metroid 5.

Jesus, I had mentioned off-hand early in the stream "No Metroid lol" and there it is, I'm stunned. I even commented how the controls of Samus Returns were sluggish and this game seems to try and refine them to be more fluid, that's excellent if they can pull it off.

Though it can hurt being a Metroid fan, the pain’s all worth it for stuff like this. MY GIRL IS BACK! (edit: I feel like these Aperture Science-looking bots are going to take a role similar to SA-X in Fusion, and we might see Ridley but as an Aperture Science Cyborg, he’s a constant in Metroid.)

I'm coming back to this video a couple years later, to say: honestly yours' was the best and most genuine reaction to metroid dread that i have ever seen. and i have searched that term in youtube till *exhaustion*! (I may literally have watched every single metroid dread reaction 😅) I'm still so happy we both got what we wanted - a new 2D metroid, that's good!! and it's seemingly revived the entire franchise, boosting sales of previous titles - metroid is *back* on the menu, fellas! 😎 also, amazing playthrough :) thanks for being so genuine, and recording your experience for us to enjoy vicariously. i haven't watched every playthrough for obvious practical reasons, but yours is one that i still remember fondly. it won't be the same when metroid 6 gets announced probably next year, but i just wanted to sincerely thank you, for posting this reaction and your subsequent playthrough :> here's to a bright future for the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter! ✨

I'm super excited! The 2d Metroid games were my jam back in the day! Hell I just played Metroid Fusion about a month ago. I'm glad that the story will finally progress. How did the federation react to Samus ramming their research station into a planet? Is she an outlaw? Did she manage to convince them of the X threat? I hope that there is more to it than just starting another mission. Edit: I would personally love some Metroid lore videos in the similar style of your C&C videos if you would want to make some.

It will be like EA coming out... you know how many options you have for this: Ultima X Wing Commander 6 Strike Commander 2 Privateer 3 Populous 4 Syndicate 3 Lands of Lore 4 Eye of the Beholder 4? 5? Theme Park The list goes on, and on, and on, and on. Or from Activision: Raven Software will be making Hexen III.

If you're interested in trying them, I'd recommend the following order; 1. Zero Mission (Metroid remake) 2. Either Samus Returns (Metroid II remake on 3DS) or AM2R (fantastic PC fangame, also Metroid II remake) 3. Super Metroid 4. Fusion

It's most likely due to the events of Fusion, which directly predates Dread. Samus' Varia Suit hasn't been used since before then, I guess after how Fusion went it's kind of not around anymore

Honestly? I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Far as I care, the storyline ended before Prime launched. It doesn't help that experience over the past 20 years tells me that there is a very good chance of them fucking this up for the fans, and on top of that, Nintendo's been on a downwards trend in terms of writing quality and business decisions.
