I do like hearing about what you didn't like, because then I know what to either tick off my ridiculously long "To Read" list, or not add something more to it. What resonated with me was when you said with Rouge you didn't like when authors use dreams as the main aspect that drives the story, & I very much agree with that. I don't mind dreams in stories, but they need to be kept short & they definitely need to be a legitimate vehicle that moves the plot along. I did put "They" & "They All Died Screaming" on my list to read. -- I actually did a "LOL" when you mentioned that the gross old man is "really into his pigs, if you get my drift..." Lol. --- Sorry you had such an up & down reading journey, hopefully April will be better!

I realise I need to make more of an effort to talk about books I don't like. I feel that in the last year or two I've tried to always see the positives in what I read and not really be as critical as I ought to be. Glad you got some more recommendations to add to your tbr!!

I've been hovering over The Salt Grows Heavy for a while but I was a little put off by the negative reviews, so it's nice to hear your take on it. I'm also super interested in their book Nothing But Blackened Teeth. If you like virus outbreak stories with a unique/mysterious contagion, I'd recommend checking out Among the Living by Tim Lebbon. The virus and the way it spreads really creeped me out!

The reviews on Goodreads mean diddly squat at the moment, I can't remember the last time I saw a proper review on there. And thank you for the recommendation, I'll definitely check it out!!

I loved They All Died Screaming. I hope you enjoy his other books. I've read a handful and still going.

From hearing a few reviews, I think 'I'm Glad my Mom Died' works far better on audio. I thought it worked really well in that format.

Came here to say the same thing! She’s got the strongest voice of any celebrity memoir (memoir, period) I’ve ever read. Highly recommend giving it a second chance on audio!

I don't think I could go through it again any time soon but I'll definitely mention that aspect when I'm talking about the book again, thank you for letting me know!

It was a very bleak read alright, really needed a cheerful read to pull myself back out of that head space

I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy Rouge! I'm definitely in the market for it and will probably pre-order the paperback just due to the fact that I really liked All's Well and liked the 'vibes' of Bunny :') I'm interested to see what I think of it considering the plot sounds exactly like my kind of thing, aligning with my interests and stuff. Hoping for a better experience! And of course hoping you get a lot more good reads for April :)

You're really smashing through the TBR this year, keep it up! I'm not nearly as prolific this year, but the two I enjoyed most so far have been Stoner by John Williams and The Commitments by Roddy Doyle (not sure if you have read any of his.)
@RGsDevilship7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, I'll try my best! It's so mad that you bring up Roddy Doyle because I was only thinking this morning that I need to read something by him soon since I've only read his children's books when I was younger.

@@RGsDevilship you really should! I've slept on his work for years also. Got a good laugh from it, inspiring as well if you're into music. Intend on reading the rest of the Barrytown trilogy this year! Look forward to your thoughts on Cows also, not often I see someone give a 1 star rating on Goodreads for something, oddly makes me want to read it myself 😅

Hello! I've been a silent viewer however I've been curious about something. Do you re-bleach your hair each time or do you use color remover?
@RGsDevilship7 ай бұрын
I always bleach my roots and then after washing it out I'll throw in a silver toner to pull all the yellow out of it to make it more white looking.

I’m really late commenting on this video but I’m curious if you have read Knock Knock Open Wide? I recently read it (really enjoyed it) and I haven’t really heard anyone talking about it. It’s such an interesting book and I wish I knew more about the lore behind the story.

New subscriber here. I love your channel and book choices. I will give some of the titles you have read a try! Update: I just finished "Thornhedge" by T. Kingfisher. Since I had never read anything written by them before, it was a nice read. Second update: I just finished "The Salt Grows Heavy" by Khaw. It was beautiful. Can't wait to see more of your wrap-ups! In regards to the prose, I mean what do people read? I am not a native speaker and to me, it looked fantastic.

Random rec here, and maybe you've read it as it's by a fellow Irish woman - Where I End by Sophie White. I found it quite dark and a bit uncomfortable at times but I haven't heard anyone talk much about it.... Having said that I'm not on social media anymore. Would like to hear your thoughts on it you ever do decide to pick it up.
@RGsDevilship7 ай бұрын
I've had that on my to read list for a while and I'm going to pick it up next time I'm at the library. I actually went to a book talk in February where Sophie White was the guest and she's so funny and down to earth!

Goodreads ratings is vulnerable to mobs giving low rating or high rating (for author with a huge fanbase online). In theses cases ratings are meaningless, this it is true for Sanderson

Yeah, I've heard about that type of thing but I guess this was my first real encounter of it 😅

I find sanderson's writing very lackluster, maybe thats why i was struggling so badly with the way of kings, it put me off so badly that i don't think i'll read anything from him anytime soon, especially with all the other fantasy serieses I have on my tbr.
@RGsDevilship7 ай бұрын
It's hard to know what to read from him because his fans really overhype everything he comes out with. Best to stick with what you know rather than get burned with him again
