Buying a Tesla is a terrible idea right now. It’s still early. The technology is steadily improving and batteries will be getting cheaper and cheaper every year. It’s best just to wait a few more years for the technology to mature first and achieve economies of scale. That said, when they get to have a lot of miles on them… we just don’t know yet 🤷🏼♀️ Which ones will hold up? Mines in really good shape rn so I’m hopeful. The only thing I had was the little battery replaced (like the batteries in gas cars) which was a few hundred dollars. And there was a recall which can fix a slight screen glitch for free. The only annoyance is I’m getting the network upgraded bc mines older and is 3G and AT&T is demanding everything go to 5G bleh. That’s $200 this month. Kinda average car expenses. Tires rotated. Etc.

@@lesterparker1594 How or when does the battery "go out"? . Does it just stop charging one day? While its true that these batteries degrade over time, it is also true that they degrade slowly and gradually, reducing the maximum range gradually, and charging at a slightly slower rate. It is very likely that a 10 year old Tesla will still have at least 80% of its original battery capacity remaining.
@lesterparker15942 жыл бұрын
@@badjohn7048 just search for it in KZbin. Tyler Hoover had one less than 10 years old and the battery wouldn’t hold more than 24 miles of power. There’s a huge KZbin channel call rich rebuilds where the guy started his channel replacing no good batteries on teslas. I think the batteries degrade to a point and then they just won’t hold a charge anymore. You’re not going to drive a Tesla 20 years without a battery replacement
@lesterparker15942 жыл бұрын
@@unknownuknown436 the difference is that if an engine goes at 1k miles it’s under warranty and you get a free engine. And at the worst if it goes at say 100k miles, a new ICE engine is $5k or so.
