You need to be very careful with these types of games if you gonna play them for the first time. These types of games requires lots of patience and if you are someone who cannot control yourself DON’T PLAY THESE GAMES since you’ll find out at the end of a session you are down €$¥£1000 without even realising and once that dopamine fades away you are left with regret and useless digital items, literally. Fundamentally, gacha games are hard for players that can't restrain themselves or young peoples. Other that that, I find Wuthering Waves monetization way more healthy than Destiny 2. Once you understand you don't need to put 60 buck every banner and you actually don't need every character. But rather build a team which is largely accessible from the get go and with free characters. Everything else is just "be able to resist the immediate urge of putting money to gain virtual characters which you actually don't need". Children shouldn't be allowed here, that I agree. Needing multiple copies of characters that are already hard to get to fully experience what the character has to offer is, by far, what I detest most about gachas. @darkknight5942 Did you even play it? The only thing that was the same was the BR, everything else about the game was more fleshed out than Apex is right now. Not overly angry theatre about "going woke" but a well thought out dissection about its disneyfication. I will try it, and hopefully, it'll become a new game I play a decent amount of. Ive played gacha games before, and there are games out there that manage to balance the whole system in a way where everything is enjoyable as f2p and saving up to get what you want is doable without frustration. If Rising is like that, then I can see it becoming a pretty successful game outside of markets where scummy gacaha setups are accepted (ie. Japan, Korea, etc.)

It's mobile game basics. As soon as you mentioned that you haven't finished campaign I was out because that's where they all fall flat. We all know once you've done various activities a couple of times it becomes your daily chore. They get you invested early on and then it becomes work, not fun, for the tiniest of upgrades. Of course unless you swipe hard. Whether you do or don't decide to give them your money, you'll soon realise that what you're doing is so boring, and you haven't even gotten anywhere near the whales on the leader boards to show off with. There are no friends to play with and there is no end goal in sight. You feel like the time spent on the mobile game has left a hole in your life where you wish you'd have done ANYTHING else.
@ABIADAB2 ай бұрын
yeah he's 20 hour in without having finished the campaign and he's having fun. that's the same amount of playtime of most core single player game. if the endgame is shit then just uninstall, you already have fun for 20+ hours.

Who cares, game offers more than 20 hours of content for free and remember, it's competing against Destiny 2, "pay us 100 dollars" before you can enjoy the game and we might take away the things you bought because we're just such a indie company. I haven't spent a dime on Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail but I have experienced every piece of story content, built up all the characters I got and there's not a single character that I want and don't have. Multiple 5 stars just for free. Did I mention that GI is a mobile game but has a seamless map with almost no loading screens, new regions get added every year and tons of puzzles, side activities, a whole ass card game and more? Destiny 2 can't even handle onboarding new players. It's insane how Bungie is getting hard diffed by mobile game companies now
@lucasLSD2 ай бұрын
Why do you care about the leaderboard? A good game won't have any meaningful reward tied to it anyway. Also every live service is a job since to keep existing they can't give you everything early on, this is true since MMOs were the rage, I think you just don't like this genre.

The amount of copium that is required for Destiny fans. He is giving props to a mobile game because many of the things in this new mobile game are not found in a triple A studio's game. This is literally proof that the triple A studios hunt for our money is a farce that they are doing a good job. Look at Elden Scrolls, Baldur's Gate 3, Path of Exile 2, and so many more. What blows my mind more that Destiny 2 got nominated for VGA's and quite frankly makes no sense they have had more drop of this year and less sales, what says they deserve rewards when Destiny 2 is literally failing so much that a new MOBILE game is beating it in content ideas and other.

Western Game Developers really really need to learn from Gacha Games and how they onboard players. They are masterful in their ability to dole out the perfect amount of rewards and the perfect amount of information over time to allow players to get into the game at the correct pace. The quality of life features they HAVE to have in order to provide as little friction to engage with the business model would be overwhelmingly well received in other games, but it's never a priority in those other games because they're expensive to develop and core game players will easily forego some quality of life for 5% better core gameplay. I'm a senior game designer at a medium/small studio. The game we just released (to resounding mediocrity) was missing soooo many features that we all wanted to make but never had the time or the resources to make.
