Listen the tech is there budget wise but no matter how good you are at doing everything yourself there's people better at certain things always. It's like folks get caught it in the I can do it myself ego and skip the fact you're trying to make amazing art. Even something simple as rendering this with an online render farm would save days of your life. Until you see the original again and realize, wow they made something so much better than what we thought was perfect enough. The realism is mindblowing.

I don't mean this in a condescending way, I just find that Op's post saying it "didn't look that bad" makes sense considering. All in all, the clip that FilmCore created genuinely looks like something you'd see in a videogame trailer which makes sense because of that UE5 look. Definitely not as good as Avatar's official vfx but still professional and impressive work.

That's what I'm currently learning. Cheating... isn't cheating. Like, making everything yourself is just a waste of time and makes the final product worse. I was making my own trees forever. A friend convinced me to just buy some trees. They look about the same quality... but I can get like ten variations that would have taken me... I don't even know how many hours to make.

Excellent result. I think with a little experimentation with lighting and skin shaders, it was possible to achieve an even more film-like result, but I know very well how difficult it is to achieve this. I wouldn’t be able to distinguish the first 10 seconds with the camera flying over the jungle from the original film.

What really intrigues me is that most of the money you spent is just on equipment - once you _have_ that equipment, you could keep on making stuff like this at a fraction of the initial cost! The prospect of a future where Hollywood-style filmmaking is accessible to nearly anyone seems to get closer and closer every day 😁
