I honestly feel like a type of a crocodile like armor knowing some of it's prey can put up a strong fight needing a stronger skin with visible armor like seen on a crocodile. And sadly a small patch of skin doesn't really tell the full story...

Movies show dinosaurs like raptiles but they were bird. Especially T-rex's are grandfather/grandmother of chicks. At last I think they should had been colorful like granddaughters/grandsons

If what I recall from the JP novel is correct the reason they gave for the Rex only being able to see movement was because they mucked up its genetics with amphibian DNA to fill in the genetic gaps, thus giving it worse vision than its real life counterpart.
