The 190is looking better and better, when you think of the of the prices of today's car, compare what it would cost to keep those classic Benzes on the road,vs, the new cars which would cost probably the double in repairs .

Amazing, amazing! I'm glad the beast can finally fly. Hey Vito, if that "plate" has NO PLAY at all, can it be fixed or you've to get another fuel distributor?
@VITOSGARAGE
@VITOSGARAGE 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can adjust the air fuel mixture using a long 3mm Allen key. The adjustment screw is next to that plate. Push down the Allen key and turn it one way or the other. This will adjust the plate

I read in a blog of W 124's enthusiasm that they recommend changing the old thermal paste located under the electronic ignition board. On these cards, which cannot be found today, overheating is one of the main causes of failure. I guess the W201 uses the same cards ? Bonjour de France.

EZL ignition modules on these cars are pretty reliable. I pulled mine out and the paste is still there. The main cause of a low power and poor running is 90% caused by ke-jetronic not adjusted properly, or worn out parts of ke jetronic itself. Hello from USA!🙂
@VITOSGARAGE
@VITOSGARAGE 3 жыл бұрын
But I agree, it’s a good idea to add or renew the paste on the bottom of ezl module. That way it transfers the heat a lot better! I might make a video on that in the future

It means fuel distributor wasn’t rebuilt properly. Take apart the fuel distributor and rebuild it

I just wanted to tell you that I have been using 89 fuel in my W124 400E for over 4 years...NOT a single issue...you don't really have to use 91 or 93...with all the stuff that the gas companies put in gasoline nowadays, 89 of today is like using 91/93 from the 90's..I mostly use Shell ( 8 times out of 10)...Just make sure that your fuel filter is clean...The only real issue that I had in 4 years with my 400E was a tiny fuel leak at a line ( which had to be fabricated as they are NLA) and a stucked purge valve ( which made the car almost stalled after a long drive in hot weather (usually, when I went to the Miami area..took me over 3 years to find out what was causing the issue...LOL)...other than that, no real issues!! However, I do a lot of preventive maintenance and "regular cars" maintenance ( brake pads, oil change every 5K )

Good to know. Thanks a lot for sharing. I’ll try that. I’ve tried using 89 instead of 91 on another Benz and I Felt a power loss with that octane. And the fuel level would drop a lot faster versus using 91

@@VITOSGARAGE i get around 26/27 mpg on highway at speed limit (70 mph) on long highway trips.. And definitely no loss on power with my M119 engine.. Engine is so smooth that sometimes i wonder if it is on or off when i am at a traffic light .. Lol

Do you have a clue weather it was the distributor itself or the EHA valve that's on it?
@VITOSGARAGE
@VITOSGARAGE 28 күн бұрын
Bad eha valve and improper fuel pressures. Distributor was good. Install new eha valve and check fuel pressures

I’m about to rebuild the fuel distributor on my 91 Mercedes’ Benz 190e 2.3 do you think if I rebuild the fuel distributor do you think it will improve the running of my car??
@VITOSGARAGE
@VITOSGARAGE 2 жыл бұрын
No idea. It depends what symptoms you have. Fuel distributor should be the last thing you touch. Gotta check for vacuum leaks and other worn parts first

@@VITOSGARAGE My just always takes a minute for it start up we did find one of the problem it was the intake gasket so what I’m going to is rebuild the distributor and put a new intake gasket on the car.
@VITOSGARAGE
@VITOSGARAGE 2 жыл бұрын
Use a smoke machine and test the vacuum leaks. Besides the intake manifold gasket, install new idle Control valve rubber hoses, new injector seals, clean the throttle body and replace the throttle body gasket. While you’re in there, remove, clean and lubricate the accelerator linkages. As far as the long starting, your fuel pump check valve could be bad causing a long crank. Another thing I recommend checking and replacing is the rubber fuel hoses. These cars are 30-40 years old and a lot of rubber fuel hoses are cracked up. This has nothing to do with your problem. But it’s important to replace them to prevent fuel leaking and causing fire… Very critical. Check the rubber fuel hoses in the engine compartment and around the fuel pump area
