It is very important that the spark plugs recommended by the manufacturer be fitted, iridium plugs do not work well in these engines, they also have to have the specific electrode separation measure

I never had any issues with the spark plugs that I installed. Check out my update videos on 190E. Thanks for watching!

Exactly: plain old type spark plugs Bosch or NGK. WITHOUT resistors!!!

As always fantastic work Vito. When you change the valve stems take off all the paint from the inside of the valve cover. Mine was flaking all off and in the oil. I painted the outside only. When you do the valve stems make a video it will help out others.

I painted mine on the outside only too. No reason to paint the inside.

@@jeffwaterman4855 I'm not sure if the factory painted the inside but either way it was peeling off and on my oil rail.

Thank you. I'll probably take this engine apart sometime in the future. Everything will be done properly and without shortcuts!

I have a similar case on my 86 W126 300SE EU spec, when the car is in the heated dry garage the engine fires right up. When it is outside in humid conditions I have the problem, needs a 2nd time startup and runs rough for a second or two - gone when I hit throttle. I checked a video from Mercedessource and it could be the voltage regulator on the alternator. K-Jetronic and starter motor take quite some juice on startup. I measured the leads and distributor for resistance and they are fine. When the engine is warm, the engine runs sweet with mild oil consumption. I suggest using OEM Beru/Bosch parts only for MB.

Check and clean the distributor cap contacts. Or replace the distributor cap and rotor

@@VITOSGARAGE thanks for the tip, I tried to remove the distributor cap bolts but these are stuck pretty tight, so I think these have not been loose for quite some time, if ever, car has just 100K miles (160000km).

Took my advice lol. A lot of these 103s have bad caps and wires and thats mostly it unless they have valvetrain damage. The quench inside the cylinder is quite tight at .037 so overrevving any 103 will result in valve to piston contact on the intake side. The exh relief is quite deep.

@@VITOSGARAGE sure and I get that. I've built a 3L m103 for my 201. It's a hybrid early head late pistons with a dbilas camshaft. Anyway mercedes engines are the best. Got a few m120s myself. Keep the videos coming!

My M111 engine consumes a lot of oil ( after 1000km of oil change, low oil level warning light lights up!) (clock around 400000km), does the compression test help me decide whether the engine is worn or there is something else that consumes oil? 2 years ago I have the valve stem seals replaced .There is no oil Leak under engine.

@@VITOSGARAGE when am driving around.no smoke at startups.Also when I keep it idling for around 10 minutes,then press the accelerator pedal,alot of blue smoke comes out of tail pipe then disappear by time!

No need for that. The compression was pretty equal among all cylinders

Vito, I have a question, I always wanted to know, if the 190,or any of the.cars,like the 126,or any model have a computer which controls, the Power seats, Power Mirrors,and so forth, I know the A/C in the 123, was like computer controlled, I am not sure if that is the right term.

No. They have a relay and switches that control the operation of the power seats, power windows and so on. No modules. Watch my video about power seat diagnosis on 190E

I had some of the same problems. does your oil smell like gas? I had to put new stem seals. i also changed the injectors and had the distributor referbed. then the system was tuned. runs great now no raw gas smell. It does start hard when hot though.

@@VITOSGARAGE if it is working correctly there is a lock. should be the same up or down. i just kept ducking every time you came close to it.
