I was taught in machining class the figure eight motion keeps the sanding even and symetrical if you sand in one direction you will inevitably put more pressure on one side of the circle and remove more material as a consequence
@SmilingDevil3 жыл бұрын
Learned something here, will keep it in mind!
@theodorefalce81813 жыл бұрын
That is half, irregular direction of abrasion scratch patterns will remove more material at a faster rate. Back and forth scratch patterns create ruts with high and low spots, the figure 8 motion distorts the pattern.

This would be a question: If you only move the material one direction and back, is the sandpaper or whatever you use will leave micro scratch marks? Like this : ^^^^^^. But if you move the material every direction like you did , i guess it will remove it from all the other directions as well. So the surface won't be like ^^^^ this because you remove those pointy ends. I am not sure if my logic is right tough. Great work by the way :) looking at that laser, i think we are ready to build a deathstar

I love those things. On an exchange visit to France, I stayed in a cottage in a tiny village and their coffee grinder, made of oak, was inherited from their grandparents. Their kitchen smelled beautifully of fresh garlic, of ancient oak and a hundred years of ground coffee! Personally, I like a few rust pits to give old machines character - if I wanted a brand new one, I'd buy one. I might even be tempted to try infusing the 99% woodworm poop wooden bits with a polymer to fake keeping it real but, hey, you know far more about this stuff than I do and I think what you did was awesome. Very cool restauration video! - one thing I would have loved to see though.... - you really embracing the stainless steel, by leaving it that way - pure polished steel with a darker wood stain! Would have looked fantastic! I am not a big fand on the yellowish paint on the beautiful steel....
@DirceuCorsetti3 жыл бұрын
Not just that, but paint doesn't stick very well to stainless. It eventually will peel off. Should've definitely have embraced the stainless

Ok, so using a lazer that is hot enough to melt paint, but cold enough not to melt tin/brass/steel. That's pretty slick.

Hi Silvia. First of all, thank you very much. To answer at the question, I keep them in my little collection for the moment and when I hit 1 million subscribers I want to make auction to them and all the money to donate to the people in needs. That’s my goal

Curious if the manufacturer has seen / will see this, and their reaction. I'd beam with immense pride if one of my products was not only still out there decades later, but that someone with great care restored it, and that it still functioned accordingly/as designed.

Great work 🙂👍🏻 Would you see the possibility to sharpen the grinder part itself? (In your demo I felt it could use a slight improvement 🤷🏻♂️)
@CoolAgainRestoration2 жыл бұрын
Yeah,I was newbie in filming and was very difficult for me to think at the work and filming in the same time. It’s a lot of room for improvement there. If I could go in the past, I will make a jig for sharpening the grinder 😎😁

By nickle plating the grinding part you've made the coffee mill unusable. Never use toxic heavy metals for stuff that comes in contact with food.

That’s also for collection and I made it with N P for not rusting again 👍🏻😉

You could have epoxy impregnated the "wood" parts with a pressure pot, stabilizing the remaining matrix.
@johncamp76793 жыл бұрын
But why??
@eformance3 жыл бұрын
@@johncamp7679 For the same reason you don't rebuild a Spanish Galleon with new wood when it is put on display. One option is to stabilize the wood matrix with resin -- it looks like wood and performs similarly.

If you were desperate to save that wood you could have just soaked it in resin. It's no longer wood, just an art piece.

you have to use the right kind of laser. taking over world laser has a different wavelength than the cleaning up laser. also has to be waterproof for mounting on sharks
