This restaurant sounds like a very good example of what happens when you get the basics right. It's been there 30 years because of simple things like using quality ingredients such as fresh prawns. I'd much rather eat at a local family restaurant than a chain owned by a celebrity chef.

It makes a fantastic difference to any meal when the environment you sit in is as brilliant as this is. Kitchen aroma is always a good judge of the quality of food produced. Being so relaxed when dining is an absolute must. What a great advert for both Gary and Spanish cuisine. 👏👏👏👏

My jaw's just dropped. I live, about, 1 mile up the road from Tattenham Corner & passed that restaurant dozens of times, always ignoring it (well it IS Tattenham Corner...). I've a Spanish mate who's lived in Epsom for, about, ten years & he's never even heard of the place! Gary I owe you one, for pointing this out. Finally, my 60th is sorted. I think most would argue he doesn't move around the country nearly enough. He probably is the best reviewer but he needs to spread his wings a bit further afield. Obviously Gary will get there though as you only need to see the strides he has made in such a short space of time.

Spanish and Portuguese food is one my favourites. I love to go out for a good Tapas with friends. It's not just about the food, it's also about taking your time and chatting with mates. As a starter, I love deep fried whitebait. What I find exeptional with Spanish/Portuguese is the mix of flavours with each dish. Ranging from tomato to spicy.

Born in Epsom but left it when I left my nappies. Returned numerous times during the 60s and 70s to visit my grandparents who lived at Tattenham Corner. Regularly walked up to the shops with them so it was nice see the old neighbourhood, not having been there for over 10 years. Thanks Gary. Remember going to see the green grocer, butcher and the fishmonger.

Absolutely correct. Not in UK but this caught my attention!! In the smaller islands,there are variations of all. I was wondering where was your PAN??!! :-) Yes,All looked v good. Support small,family restaurant please. This is doing your country a service ,keeping farmers,fishermen, etc going. And what better way to eat than to share?!! TAPAS!!!!! All about the family, the love. Caters to your UK taste too I spotted bits on menu..oh n Sweet finish was GRANDE!!! LOL. Little always best.. Mornings is coffee,,Leche alamendra y frío para mí!!! And a little pastel, plain cake! & Juice sometimes. You are right about breakfast, lightened up a lot. But in mainland or tourist spots you will always see the dreaded jumbo breakfast. RUN!!!! FAST!!!! LOL ( Hope your not went well) I heard lemon water,tepid n made like a tea is excellent first thing. ..with mint! Keep tummy good n healthy! :-) Chain restaurants,so over them. And never buy into names! Just curious if that restaurant near Harrods still going? I can't remember name,it's department store also!! Had pheasant there!! Such a pleasure to go somewhere new with a fresh review from Gary (with technical support and secondary-eating duties from the Cameraman). I didn't expect to love Spanish food when I went there, but it was a revelation. So much of it is quite simple - few ingredients, seemingly basic preps - but with the care they take and the ingredient quality, it can be the most amazing cuisine. I'd have been happy to never leave. Just the bread that you get in Spain! People get all frothy about French bread, which can indeed be excellent, but Spanish bread can be just as good. I'd have needed a whole loaf for that shrimp sauce! You've gotten very bold with the chilies since your Indian torture-session! Good for you! Thanks for this wonderful reminder of some truly special times. It's always so good to hear from you two!

1st question: Why wasn't it a 10/10? I think it was deserving of full marks. It reminded me of a place here in the Cape called Capelands Italian Restaurant and Wine Farm. It is run by a German/Italian chef. Food is fantastic and they produce their own wine. Their method is to not water the vineyards but to rely on the climate. That place had a sense of conviviality about it. I'd imagine if you were in the evening and not filming ofc then ppl at different tables would end up chatting to each other and it wouldn't feel weird. It takes a lot of effort to make a place like that not just the high quality food. You can have a high end restaurant that just feels sterile no matter how good the food. I like these reviews of smaller places . Your channel seems to do very well on the views given how many subscribers you have 👍

I think it is his very honest and informative reviews. He gives so much detail about textures, tastes and ingredients. He would give some professional restaurant critics a run for their money. He obviously has a wide knowledge of most foods and cuisines but still willing to try ones he hasn't tried before. I've watched other food review videos and many of them are just simply watching someone shovelling food into their gob and saying things like 'beautiful' or 'lovely' but no detail whatsoever.

I watched your video the other day over looking the bay having scallops and mussels. I bought some myself and indulged. I tried the mussels in a Miso broth and that worked really well, and cooked the scallops in butter and garlic, really excellent. I wish there were recipes for these dishes but I can wing it.

We retired to Spain and all the restaurants we’ve been to they are very passionate about their food and care about their customers , 5 years now never had a bad meal , we are by the coast so all sea food is fresh it certainly makes a difference , really enjoying your channel 😎

Another great video Gary. We were in Spain some years ago and stopped in a little village for lunch. We sat down and it was clear the place was a favourite with the locals. The waitor could see we were struggling with the menu. He suddenly took me by the arm and marched me into the kitchen where the chef got me to try everything on offer. What a wonderful lunch we had for next to no money!
