Reviewing PAUL AINSWORTH'S CELEBRITY RESTAURANT!

I've been waiting for the '10' as I promised myself I would post a comment. Gary, your channel should not work. Some random middle-aged, middle-class English chap going to random restaurants and talking, with no fanfare, about dishes, service, ambience, price, all the while covered by an extremely illusive Cameraman. No crazy thumbnails, no obvious pattern of restaurant choice, no focus on the obvious targets. Your channel should not work. I have a sheet on my wall next to my desk, that counts your subscribers since January 1st this year (at that time fractionally over 40k and I had been hooked for some time). You've just doubled it in less than five months. That's unheard of. Honesty. No Frills. Simple. Concise. Believable. Trustworthy. Erudite. REAL. Gary, your channel should not work. But it's fast becoming the best channel on KZbin. Please please please don't ever change! And thank you.

I took part in The Mariners renovation, and the company I worked for did the electrical work. Paul came and personally thanked all of the workers for the renovation, and cooked for us as well. Food was top quality as you'd expect! He even stopped for 5/10 minutes to talk with me while I was out in the plant room working. He's one of the nicest guys I've met, also a very down to earth guy doing well for himself. I highly recommend a visit to his restaurants!

Whenever I’ve seen Paul Ainsworth on the TV he always comes across as a really humble and nice guy who treats his staff really well too. Not the attitude or ego of some other “celebrity” chefs. Food looks absolutely delicious 👍👍

As a Cornishman and an ex fisherman of a certain age, I can remember people freaking out when they had to start paying fifty pence for a fresh scallop! 'Ten Shillings!!!' the screamed.🤣 Shoulder of lamb is the best joint for me, absolutely love it. All looked good, and glad to see local mussels finally getting on the menu. They could've been way back, but there's a story behind that for another time. Good vlog mate and thanks.

My wife used to frequent Marriner's when it was a dive in the 90's, way before it was taken over & renovated. We went there for lunch last year to reminisce, it was just wow, so good. We're back at the end of this month & can't wait to return.

I work in a restaurant called four boys 3-4 minutes walk from here. Gordon Ramsey house is about half a mile on the side you are standing up from here. He is actually very warm to speak to nothing like on TV comes in our restaurant now and then. Know some of the staff Mariners in the Mariners well when from here everyone knows everyone 😂

I was so glad when you said forget about the bill! Food like this you will remember in 10 years' time, you may remember the time you remember the best of [said dish] you had at [x restaurant]. Or the fine dishes here. Perhaps also with the memory with your friends or family, of when you had such a fine meal together. The price, whilst of course it is up there, factors the pay for the quality of incredient, location, and the professional skills of those who have endured tough kitchens in their careers to be able to produce such excellence. Now i will cover the score first, as if it had not been a ten i would of been disappointed as the food looked sublime. The Scallop looked so good, i actually ate it with you in this clip. Re the Mussels i think your bang on them being Thai, as Thai-style mussels are a very common recipe, Jamie Oliver makes a nice version also. As for the shepherds pie, what can you say, amazing chunks of lamb and a very clever Basil and mint sauce (I to must try that) Excellent vlog my friend. Chris. Hi Gary. Just watched your superb review of The Mariners. All three courses you had looked mega. I made a comment about Paul Ainsworth after your review of Rick Steins chippy in Padstow. He is a shining example of a top chef focusing on quality and not getting carried away with making as much money as possible and trying to be all things to all people. Yes it’s not cheap but the vibe and the food is outstanding and is worth every penny as a special treat. His no6 restaurant in Padstow is fantastic too and he is regularly there most Summer evenings and takes time to greet and chat to the customers. He’s a great guy. All power to him.

Paul Ainsworth is a proper chef, glad to see his name isn't being spread too thin with multiple restaurants. When you were eating the scallop, I was reminded of the popcorn tofu at Nobu in Budapest that was so good I immediately ordered another portion, despite having other courses already ordered. Reckon you could have squeezed another scallop in too ;)

It is always perfection, and the sea food comes just over from Padstow or no more than 300M from the estuary for the scallops or muscles, can’t get better than that! Onda in Wadebridge is frequented by Gordon Ramsey

Probably as it was a hand dived scallop which is high quality,you have to factor in the costs of buying them from the diver who has to make a living. Costs of anything in the UK now is extortionate

First of all got to say everything about the place oozed class starting with that view wow then restaurant itself looked amazing that scallop looked delicious and the mussels looked great and then for me what was the star of the show that shepherds pie with the shoulder of lamb looked incredible all in all it looked brilliant and all of this was aided once again by your brilliant review for the shepherds pie alone I would give it 10 out of 10 brilliant well done Gary

I actually stayed in Padstow with my brother many years ago as my husband had bought me a weekend at the Rick Stein Cookery School, and as he hates fish he asked my brother if he’d like to go too. I thought it a bit odd he’d bought me a fish cookery course as I can’t cook fish at home, but he said that was the reason why, so I ate an overload of fish in 3 days ! 😂 Didn’t see Rick though, he was in Oz. Actually can’t remember if the fish and chip place was there then as it was about 18 years ago ! The cookery school was above where the chippy etc is with that huge window being where we sat at a huge table eating the lunch we’d cooked.

Pretty much Michelin star food at a pub that’s yet to earn the star. Paul treats his staff like family and their dedication to him and their craft is exemplary. Caffe Rojano is equally good. No 6 also, but another step up in price and down in portion size. Give it a go!

Found you a few months back and love the channel. whats good about the channel is you arent setting out looking to rubbish an establishment, just for views, theres no over the top click bait titles, you go into places with the best intentions, to let the food do the talking. a channel you can sit down and enjoy. please dont ever change the style of the videos, you have it spot on. as for here, yes pricey indeed, i dont normally fully believe that you should be paying way over the odds just for the location, but, when the location, the food and the service are as good as that its hard to argue. not much more expensive than that sorry fish n chips from rick stein though to be fair lol. keep up the good work gary, fast approaching the 100k subs.
