I have experienced the loss of pets also, and agreed, it hurts. Take all the time you need before you decide to foster again and never forget that you are important to and loved by a lot of people, your family, friends, and millions of supporters. for anyone wondering, here is joey's animal list (in time order): - Wolf (male husky, rescued from craigslist (?) as puppy) - Storm (male husky, white, adopted from a rescue as puppy, lives w Daniel) - Lark (female husky/german shepherd mix, adopted from a rescue as puppy (?), lives w Daniel) - Lark had babies (accident at doggy daycare)! seven of them (Red, Teal, Lavender, Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue) - Moon (male husky, kept one of lark's babies-Teal) - Shadow (male husky, J&D tried to keep Lark's baby Red, but Moon & Shadow struggled with littermate syndrome so Shadow was rehomed like the others) - Sakura (black female pregnant rescue cat) (kept her) - Sakura's kittens, the zodiac litter (Gemini, Taurus, Aquarius, Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) - Azula (female foster cat, was pregnant but lost the litter) - Hen (foster mama from junkyard) - junkyard pups (Duck, Goose, Shark, Otter, Bear, Moose) - foster mama dog Roo - Roo's litter (Hare, Tiger, Bison, Panda, Raccoon, Monkey) - Daenerys (white foster mama kitty) - D's kitties, the Greek Goddess litter (Athena, Persephone, Aphrodite, Nemesis, Rhea) - took care (for a couple of days) of a mama duck and her 9 babies that wandered into his backyard and got stuck - May (foster mama husky) - May's babies, the Months litter (January, February, March, April, June, July, August, September, October, November, December) - Coco (husky foster mama pt2, false pregnancy, surrogate to Disney pups) - husky babies abandoned in box (Disney litter--Copper, Pluto, Bolt, Scar, Bruno, Darla) - Daisy (husky foster mama pt3) - Daisy's babies (flower/tree litter; Goldie, Lilly, and Daphne didn't make it; Ash, Cyprus, Oren) *the babies are usually adopted by other people (other than Moon) and then renamed!

Losing a pet, especially a young one is never easy. It always sucks, but the bright side is they were safe and warm and well fed with their mother rather than out in the cold hungry and alone. That's...that's the best way I can put it. The boys are so cute I want them all but I'd be lucky to take one. Whoever gets them is gonna be really lucky and happy.

Take comfort in knowing you are great as a foster dad if you don't believe me look at momma May's children, Loki (Dec), Jersey (Jan), Marshall (March), Kitana(Nov), Karen and October. I know losing the girls must have been so so hard. It was hard to watch. I lost my baby girl a couple years ago. She had been my baby for 11 years. She was the best dog. So, I know losing one really rips your heart out. But I felt led to say that even tho you feel sad & are taking a break from pups, just know & remind yourself how much good you’re doing for them & all the pups you’ve fostered. With you, they are loved & have a wonderful place to call home until they go to their forever homes. & that’s worth a hell of a whole lot. 🤍

Our beautiful husky passed last month, having spent fifteen memorable years with us. Yesterday, we opened our hearts to yet another rescue hound. I wouldnt love myself as purely as i do if you didnt show so much courage to be you in front of the whole world. I've been raising chickens/chicks for going on 3 years now. As usually happens with chickens, we have had some chicks that had issues either early on and some even weeks down the road. One even passed away in my hand. Right now we have another chick that might not make it. It's devastating every time. A life is a life. I'm so sorry that that happened with the puppies. I just wanted to say that when raising up lots of volume in baby animals, genetic issues are bound to happen and you are bound to witness it. It's a part of the job, unfortunately. The best we can do is educate ourselves about crisis care for the animals and be ready to accept what comes knowing you're prepared. You, at the end of the day, are doing an AMAZING thing and any amount of time they get to be cared for by someone who truly loves them is incredible and all anyone could ask for, really. I just wanted to say hang in there, I'm proud of you, keep up the good work and don't get discouraged. A break is also understandable! We love you, you're the best dog dad/foster parent ever 🥰
@sharikurzh7322 жыл бұрын
Awww - Joey, I'm so sorry for the pain that your heart is going through! It's probably even harder because from my observations of you with both animals and people, I get the feeling that you are a true empath taking on all of the emotions from others. I hope that you know deep down in your heart that you did above and beyond what was called for. I know that doesn't make the guilt inside of you go away, but sometimes life just happens and it's beyond shocking when the ending is not only something that you never thought of, but it just seems so wrong! I know that it will take awhile to recover from this, but what gives me Hope and Happiness is the thought that when it's Your time to leave this Earth (I am Not trying to be maudlin or morbid in any way and am talking about a long time from now)!! But, think of how many Beautiful neglected dogs, cats and any other animals you've taken care of have learned what it means to be Loved! That is the Greatest Gift anyone can ever give. So, when I think of you getting ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge my mind is just filled with So Much Love and Happiness (I am definitely talking Unicorns and Rainbows)!!! Of all of these Puppies, Kittens, Dogs, and Cats just running as fast as they can to YOU just to give a smidgen of Your Love back to You!!! They will All be Healthy and Trauma Free and then just maybe You will realize what a Huge Impact/Difference You have made here on Earth! Remember, it's always about the Ripples that are created which creates Change. Take however much time you need to Heal from the inside out, you have definitely earned it. But, remember the saying about riding Horses, if you fall, Don't quit or get discouraged - get back on that Horse and keep trying until you're riding off into the wind! You will know when the time is right for you to Foster again and I'm looking forward to hearing your infectious laughter and seeing that beautiful smile on your face!!! I'm allowed to say these things because I am an Old Cranky Grandma who has lived through a lot of S**t 💩💩💩 🐶 😻 💖 😇 💙 God Bless You❣❣
