Are they that busy not to throw up some signs that would be effective for the time span they noted not to fish there due to hunting season? They really did not harass our dude to an extreme but it was all unnecessary. Lawfully anyone could fish there at any time, the wardens are not responsible for one's safety. I wish more fish and game officers were cool like those two. I've lived over half a century and I have only ran into a couple in my lifetime that were like those two guys. Most of the game wardens I have met have been just the opposite and I have quite a distain for them in general. I usually get checked for a license once or twice a year. One year I got checked a half a dozen times by he same jerk. I don't know what he was expecting to find that he needed to see my license 5 or 6 different times. Just not a fan of game wardens, but those two you met seemed real decent.

I've had a few interactions with Fish & game Wardens over the years and I have to say that they've been largely positive. DFG officers also tend to be hunters and fishers and usually appreciate having a good conversation about the fishing or hunting. That's my experience anyway.

@@mynameisnotcory the officer that checked me multiple times in one season is someone I knew well. I've lived in small towns the last 30 years everyone knows everyone. Hence the reason I found it so annoying to be checked so many times. I passed each time, never was in violation of anything. Just super annoying and unnecessary in my opinion. I've even had my license checked twice in the same day by another game warden. I was fishing on a small earthen dam on a small lake. The officer checked my license in the morning and then came back and checked me again in the afternoon about 5 hours later. I guess I just look guilty of something.

Those Wardens were cool about it but there are so many "Areas" when it comes to fishing there is no way to actually post them all. Most states should have an anglers guide with most areas listed and the regulations that cover them. It's the anglers responsibility to know the rules about where they will be fishing.

There’s a spill way up in Maryland that if you go to during the winter you get hit as soon as the lure hits the water. Either smaller striped bass(occasional bigger one) and white perch. I counted once but lost track at 170 something

I've set down a fishing rod with an empty hook hanging over the water and when I turned around it was gone and then later that night, just before leaving, I pulled up a catfish in a different spot and my pole came with it. Such a nice guy making sure I didn't leave without my things. (catching your lure with the bass reminded me of that)

I do haha. I find them trying to kill trout i have on a stringer sometimes. I scare them away, or pick them up n move them. Then i release the trout. One time doing that, a trout basically became my friend. Kept swimming back to me in the rushing water, then hanging out n if I put my hand in the water, it would brush up against me and even let me gently catch him by hand another 7 or so times. Then, i turned to grab my phone to record him being friendly, but he was gone 😔 Probably thought i was leaving first, but was a very cool experience. The crayfish, i have always safely let go, whether they were on my line or catching them by hand seeing them. 😺

I live in the 217 area here in Illinois. I fish that spill way all the time. Get you a decent size bobber. We cast in to the walls bouncing our bobbers off it making it bounce deeper into the damn. Years back guy cought 65 pound flat head out of there. I cought a 55 lb common snapper out of there. That year we seen at least a 20 pound large mouth bass. Probably 40 pound gar. Also remember that day some kids cought a black gar. I told them it was bad ju ju. Found them down the road a bit with flat tire.

Law Enforcement at its finest! This is the proper way to interact with L.E.O.s. The cops cool, didn't have to be, and you were respectful and cooperative. I have always had professional Game Warden interactions, and never ticketed, though twice I would have completely understood. Great video for many reasons. Hope some young people are watching and learning how to interact with Cops.

It's almost like the rules are designed to ensure anybody can be ticketed or have their boat searched in any situation. That's messed up. What does it cost to go to the movies with your partner? 24 bucks for less than two hours of a movie. You can fish 24/7 365 days a year for basically the same price. Looks like the spillway at Lake Sangchris. If it is follow the the spillway creek to where it meets the Sangamon river. Not too bad of a walk to there and some nice holes along the way. When I used to live up that way I fished that creek and where the creek and river meet A lot. Biggest fish I reeled out of there was about 20yards back from the river and a 31 pound flathead Cat. Never had much luck below the spillway itself it gets fished real heavy. Course that may not be Sangchris but sure looks like it is.

In Oregon you need a lawyer on speed dial , and a gps to fish or hunt . license fees keep going up and so do the restrictions. It's being turned in to a park where you can only look through the fence.

Glad they were cool about it. I’ve had one check me once that was very unpleasant but eventually cooled off. By that point it was just a downer. Had many be cool and courteous but that one experience is always the one that comes to mind first when getting checked.

That’s cool that’s how a warning is supposed to be. I’m in Alaska and we have poachers when the salmon runs come through you would be amazed on the amount of illegal salmon fishing. Example. Allowed 1 king salmon 3 per season. Some will catch 2-5 in one day. Red salmon on kenai Russian River allowed 3 per day some will catch 9-12 ,,,, we have state troopers that are the game wardens , there’s a lack of them here. But their cool, they’ve asked me for my license over the past 29 yrs.
