Without Randy it wasn't the Eagles; it was the Frey-Henley Band. And I think deep down they knew that. There was no justifiable reason for getting rid of him.
@LJW55 Жыл бұрын
Well, he didn't have the "best" voice in the band, they all could sing at their own pitch but Randy could hit the high notes that the crowd loved... Frey was a control freak, Meisner was losing the high notes due to his health failing at the time and that's what caused the friction in the band. Randy did the best thing for his own personal wellfare and left..!@@SingleTax

He really stressed over performing this due to the vocal range it required. It is why they are smiling at him at the end and giving him thumbs up, to build his confidence. It is one thing to do it studio, a whole other live. He slays it though. BTW you two are downright beautiful.

I’ve seen them 3 times, but unfortunately never got to see Randy Meisner play with them. He was a gem of a musician and vocalist. I went to the kickoff of their “the long goodbye tour” with Steely Dan this past Friday at Madison Square garden and they dedicated this song to Randy. There was not a dry eye in the house. They also dedicated a song to Jimmy Buffet. I know they’ve said “this is our last tour” before, but this really seems to be it. They’re all in their 70’s. It feels like the end of an era 😔. I went with my dad who saw them multiple times in the 70’s, then 3 more times after I was born (the three shows I’ve gone to were with him), and he kept commenting “how are there so many old people in here, that means I’M old now! I may be next!!” 😭 thanks dad lmfao.

First concert EAGLES , HEART, LITTLE RIVER BAND.. WAS 8 YRS OLD, MY Mom's new boyfriend scored tickets and told me I could go and bring two friends, so I got a lady I babysit for to bring us and brought another friend. That same bf that became my step dad for life, was security after the air force for Motown and Arista records. He took me to all the "hotel bar tours" Motown and Arista artists did in the 70s and 80s.. Herb Reed sang 16 candles to me on my 14th birthday with Regina Coco. They had this little white girl come to the stage. He sent me to so many concerts at Hampton Club Casino. I can't even remember all of them. One time he came home with Tito Puentes/ Celia Cruz/ Johnny Ventura/Gran Combo. Donna Summer, Chilites, Stylistics, Commodors, Barry White,Smokey Robinson, some country artists, some Funk bands, Rick James/fire and ice/ But Eagles will always be my FIRST. haven't been to a concert in 15 years, but going to see Usher in Boston with my oldest Daughter, I took her to 50cent Rock the Mic Tour with 21 of her friends from Brunswick Maine to Foxboro Ma. Many of those artists will be there at Ushers. Superbowl halftime show was like My CHILDHOOD too, not just hers, I gave her Lime Wire, lol and told her to go back in time. I don't know where on the planet you are, beautiful young ladies. No matter what going on in 24. We have 70 years of the best music since Chopin, Tykovsky, and Beethoven .. LITTERALLY There has not been a straight run for 70 years since then. It's like telling someone you are not living close to, to go out and look at the same moon I am looking at, You are there, we are all over, but we could be listening to the same songs at the same time.. ❤

according to Randy Meisner, this song is meant to point to a larger, philosophical idea. Or as he explained it, the phrase “take it to the limit one more time” is an encouragement towards persistent effort. He’s basically saying that even if a person is content with his or her experiences and achievements, they should still push themselves to reach an even higher goal.

You two are so adorable and beautiful. Great reaction to this iconic song. I'm usually a firm believer that reactions are best done the first time with studio recordings most of the time... but this song is one of the exceptions. Vocalist Randy Meisner takes this song to another level in live recordings. It gives me goosebumps still, even though I've heard this song many times. I also love rock ballads in 3/4 time, which are rare (most are in 4/4). For another rock ballad in 3/4 time, the song "Wish You Were There" by REO Speedwagon is a great example.

I lived in Randy's hometown of Scottsbluff Nebraska and while working in a radio station there had the opportunity to see his gold record for Hotel California and his first wife Jenny who had a small gift shop there. It seems like a thousand years ago and he had so many tragedies in his life and he was such a quiet kind hearted soul that it makes me sad for him whenever I hear this song. And he was so quick to forgive Frey and Henley when they treated him so badly and unkind. Love to Randy. And he co-wrote this song by the way and nobody else will ever do justice to it with his God given voice.
