8:00 Probably something like cauldron familiar or something like that. It dies about 10+ times in a single game. In sheer volume that probably beats llanowar elves. It is also one of the most iconic creatures of the digital era of magic and by sheer volume of games played there are probably far more games played per person on arena for each session than there are for MODO and paper .

Big Dick Mystic gets played first for me. Mystic was what was around when I started playing so it's more sentimental to me than Llanowar. Also my college roommate who started playing and convinced me to start playing came up with "Big Dick Mystic" and having that be your first play really sets the tone for the match.

Depending on how you wanna define the "Creature that has died the most times" question, it could be Scute Swarm. Given how exponential they can get and then all wiped out at once, you could easily kill like 40+ a game.

is genesis wave better than storm the festival in this kind of shell now? i could see it as a 1 or 2 of to finish the game esp despite storm being repeatable, casting gen wave with around 12-13 devotion like normal gets you more looks at permanents than just storm the festival

Storm sees more cards for 6 mana early in the game, can be cast again later, and isn't as weak to Thoughtseize/Duress, which is EVERYWHERE in Pioneer.

Given the popularity of commander and ramp in commander, I think Sakura-Tribe Elder is probably high up on the list of "most died". In games where it's cast, I have to assume Steve dies in 99%+ of them.

That's true of most creatures, they are pretty fragile, specially in commander. (Unless there is a specific resilience or finishing power) So the question is mostly about what creature gets played most.

With regards to the creature that has died the most times there are some things to keep in mind. I feel confident in asserting that more games have been played on arena than in person or on mtgo. The player base has been at its largest and instead of playing once a week people are playing daily. Commander is worth considering but it is a singleton format, the games are slow and often it is played once a week. If we set asside infinite combos, then I think logically the creature would be one that has been standard legal on arena. Creatures that can die multiple times and are intentionally killed by their controler should have an edge as do creatures in top meta decks so my vote is for cauldron familiar. If we exclude self sac then I would go with a red one mana creature thanks to the prevalence of red deck. Maybe swiftspear. I don't think llanowar elves is close unless you are counting "creatures jim has seen die" Then paper magic and mtgo start to factor in.

Respectfully, even considering the factors you identified, I think Llanowar is still a pretty serious contender. The cumulative advantage of 30-odd years of play across many formats should not be underestimated, and Llanowar has also been Arena-legal longer than either of the two cards you named (reprinted in M19 and Dominaria compared to Throne of Eldraine and Brothers' War), so it was getting killed in Arena's eternal formats as well the whole time that those creatures were racking up points. Self-sac is an interesting point though.

I always play Llanowar Elves first becasue I have a nicer art for Elvish Mystic and I assume the first one I put out is getting murdered but maybe the second will stick and I'll keep the nice art on board.
