anyone saying the dad should be embarrassed for staying at home and taking care of his family does not truly understand the value of having a family. he sacrificed so much for his son and that also for so long, I am very proud of that man and it would be great if men had even half of what he has. truly one in a million, go super dad! live you life and wish all your dreams will be fulfilled!

Being a stay at home dad is not shameful! Jue Ming's dad, you are a caregiver and you take care of your home so that your wife can work in peace. YOU are working too! Your sacrifice and your work is valuable, please don't think that what you do has no value; it does. Not everyone can do what you do.

I am impressed by the sincere eloquence of the 15 yo son expressing his appreciation for his dad - not many teens are able to do that. Be understanding of people's situation - the pain of this father was not being able to additionally help and provide much more than what he sincerely hoped for (which is to be the additional source of income next to his wife.) He really wants to be a contributor of his household. I genuinely respect that very much.

We have an Autistic son too but my wife and I decided to continue our careers so that we can provide financial security for our son after we pass away. We realized that our son will have employment limitations no matter how much he gets trained so having a sizeable nest egg would ensure that he lives a secure and comfortable life without needing to find employment. I also moved my work to our home when he was five so I was able to spend more time with him and attend most of his special school activities. Giving up one income was just too risky for our retirement and our son's future livelihood. Mentally I'm in the same boat as the guy in the video, I cut myself off from many things as I was too worried and preoccupied with our son. Realistically, I can only have some of my life back as having an Autistic child and adult is lifetime work.

His son has hemophilia, not just autism. If you watch an earlier CNA video where they showed his son's life with hemophilia, you can see that they used to have to do injections, multiple trips to the hospital due to injuries when he was younger, etc.
@robocop581
@robocop581 6 ай бұрын
@@jllouie I get that. We live in HK and we hired a domestic helper to aid us with our Son as he's prone to epileptic seizures. Hiring a domestic helper is also possible in Singapore. Surely they can train a Domestic Helper for injections and accompany the son to school. And the entire point of my comment is this: The biggest worry of Parents with children with Special Needs is not when the Parents are alive. The biggest worry is the Special Needs child outliving the Parents because of their limited earning capabilities. My wife and I not only took care of our son's current needs but also his financial needs after we pass away. Now I'm not saying the parent was wrong giving up his career but for me, I wanted to cover both ends as I know our Son won't earn enough to survive alone and so my wife and I can live comfortably in retirement. The other reason why I didn't give up my career is it would be totally unfair to leave the burden of our son's financial needs to our two daughters as they have their own families to take care of.

I'm so glad that this ended on such a positive note with the father realizing that he needs to take care of his own mental and physical health too. Tai Chi seems like a great way for him to do both, and to also build bonds of friendship he very much needs outside of his family. If it can also provide a source of income, even better! I hope he understands that he DOES work. He is working for his family, as well as being a healthcare provider to his son. He cooks, cleans, tutors, mentors, nurtures, etc. He is not unemployed. His son clearly appreciates and respects him as well. He's obviously done a great job.

I am a stay-at-home dad by choice. I have 3 young kids and I choose to spend my time bringing them up rather than pursue my career because I love spending time with them and watching them grow into young adults. It is also an important time for proper guidance especially in this fast paced age and to instill good values in them so they become good members of society. I do share the same discrimination that this father does from comments and remarks, sometimes made by people off hand and not properly thought out, that being "jobless" is a lazy lifestyle, or that without a career it is shameful. Actually this is the very kind of thinking I hope my children will never fall into, that they learn that unity in the family is one of the pillars of strong society. There is more to life than the pursuit of wealth, and we can never be satisfied by earning more and more money. A life of content with moderation is the key to internal happiness. Being a parent is a job... it doesn't pay with a salary, but it imparts dividends over and over until the end of our lives. It is the best job in the world.

The neighbors laugh because im always cleaning and mopping, i use it to keep active and we are house proud in my culture so they can laugh all they like. Tried explaining dignity and self pride to my wife so she understands men do things even crap jobs to give themselves self respect to be useful, for older men its to keep active. Good luck to you sir you have served your family well.

Wow this is great! The dad is so wonderful and the son is so cheery here too and it's wonderful that they have a very loving relationship. The son, perhaps as a result of his high functioning autism, is also able to express his feelings to his family so directly. Really wonderful to see and hope it all works out for the family, including for the dad and he can also continue his taiji instructor passion!

Good job to the parents. Look how well the boy grew up. Nothing to be shameful, yes it hurt his dignity but the result is so worth it.

Despite his conditions, I find Jue Ming to be a very sensible, brave and independent kid, more so than other "normal kids" I've come across tbh. This is testament of the parents' effort and upbringing. So keep your chin up Dad! 你的付出孩子都感受得到!

Theres a chinese drama showcase of this type of stay-home dad who took care of everything featuring actor Chen Hanwei. His character is what we called penguin father. Theres no shame for a father doing this kind of duty even though he might lost touch with work industry for between 10-30 years for some i came across with. Family always comes first and we must appreciate their sacrifice. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Just by looking at the dad, you can tell he's reached the apex of 'why me'. If anyone sees him on the street, buy him a coffee or some small treat. I have a feeling it would make his day.
